Pre-Horror Challenge 13: Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checklist)
After an experimental first year that proved to be a resounding success, and even more successful second year, this thread is back and earlier than ever! Its sole purpose is to hopefully get the optional lists done early and without distractions. Even when the main thread goes up later in the month this one continues ...until we're done.
We configure them in the following order - Theme Nights --> 31 Film Subset --> The Checklist. It's done in that particular order due to the first two syncing up with one another, and so you can have some time to plan ahead accordingly.

To make this thread as simple as possible...
Posts 2, 3, and 4 contain all the past entries for all three lists.
Posts 5 and 6 are for building Theme Nights.
Posts 7 and 8 are for building The 31 Film Subset.
Posts 9 and 10 are for building The Checklist.
Anything done outside of those posts will have hyperlinks directing you to where the action is in that list's respective second thread.

That said, if you have ideas for any of the lists throw them out there while they're still fresh in your mind. And feel free to contribute even if you don't plan on participating in any of the optional stuff.
Also, we're gonna need the usual 31 volunteers for the subset, so feel to volunteer now minus the later suggestions. As always, I'm hellbent on getting a separate person for each day.

THEME NIGHTS CONSTRUCTION
Here's the new theme suggestions compiled together. We need to whittle them down to an acceptable number and decide which of the old themes make a triumphant return. Once again, there's quite a few anniversary, location-based suggestions and the inevitable leftovers this time. Don't forget the ones with fewer titles (under 50) will need to be paired up with one or two other themes.
If you have any new theme suggestions let me know and I'll add them here. Include a link to go with it if you can.

Checklist Suggestions
Include a section based on characters (Frankenstein's Monster, Igor, The Wolf Man, etc.)
Watch a film from someone else's list that you've never seen before.
Watch a film with the word 'It' in the title.
Remove decades earlier than 1930s because no/few features.
Add 'watch a previous subset film' as an option to make up a theme night
Have the subset and theme nights of Criterion and Comedy count as wildcards

The reason there's more posts than usual is because we broke the forum ...exceeded the text limit. I had to break them up into pieces.
And as usual, I'll hold off on voting a few days to allow more theme suggestions.
Why are there 3 new themes already chosen?
1. Zombies + R.I.P. George A. Romero. As mentioned in the suggestions thread, I tacked Romero onto the permanent zombie theme because it's just fitting. It's zombies + Romero's qualifying filmography. Also clears up space.
2. Lucky Charms: A Celebration of Friday the 13th. It's our 13th challenge and we have a Friday the 13th this October. Do I need to say any more?
3. Nightmares & Dreamscapes. This is a returning theme we did a few years back minus the drug stuff. I need this because this year's banner theme is dream logic, which ties in with the giveaways. I have plans for it.
And as usual, I'll hold off on voting a few days to allow more theme suggestions.

Is there any way we can fit Stranger Things into the challenge? Season 2 is coming on October 27th. Maybe make a "Stranger Things" theme for that date, so that people can binge the show.

I had a feeling this thread would be going up soon. I'm happy to already be getting into this mindset. As usual, I'm good for a subset selection. I'll think about other themes that we could use.
