That sucks. My aunt is going to be pissed as she gets disability. Strange as I know some government workers like my friend are working today and they are delivering mail as well.

Citadel was probably the most depressing movie I could have picked for the first movie after waking up, for personal reasons. But even with that, I thought it was really good and had a lot of high tension moments.
I'm trying to burn through the 2012 movies I was saving for this challenge. I've got a list of every movie I had an interest in for that year on Letterboxd and I'm down to only 32 films or so, half of those being horror.

I'm slightly confused by today's theme. Do we have to watch a film from the specific years of both 1963 and 1988 to satisfy the theme?
If it's the one I'm thinking of, I was pleasantly surprised by it too. But wait, I think the one I'm thinking of was a subset choice one year.
I love trying to find a diamond in the rough (i.e. super low budget but really good horror film) and I watched one last night. I highly recommend Murder Party (2007). It was obviously made on a shoe-string budget but the acting, gore, story and humor are all above par.

Murder Party is great.
Also, would like to give another shout out for Stalled which will be available on VOD in the US on 4th October. Have gotten a couple of people to watch it so far and they both really enjoyed it, so I'm hoping it'll catch on.

Human Centipede II: Full Sequence is pretty dump. I admired some of the creativity in expanding on such a limited premise but maybe it should be no surprise it seems to forgo tension in favor of flaunting whatever extremes come to mind without sufficient build-up lacking rationale. My wife suggested we watch it because she seemed to appreciate how grotesque it is, maybe I just don't get it.

For any Dish customers that have the Blockbuster @Home premium ($10 a month, and some sort of free trial I believe) Black Sabbath is available as VOD for free (free as in no additional cost). In fact there's a butt-load of free horror movies as VOD.

Just got done watching The Birds and now off to They Live. Wish I had the blu-ray of the film, though. Always love watching Piper on my TV.

Critics watching the first film and the hype surrounding it were expecting some more along the lines of the second. Seems like Tom Six wanted to give them what they wanted, even if the film is just a string of 'gross-out' moments all connected together.
