These "October Horror Movie Challenge" threads are for the discussion of the films in the 31 FILM SUBSET.
MAIN THREAD | LIST THREAD
The plan is for everyone to watch this film on the October day in the thread title, and to start discussing it the morning of the following day.
You may start discussion early if you want, but the preferred plan is for this to be as much of a group exercise as possible, with all of us viewing it "together" and discussing after.
Of course, you are totally encouraged to participate in these threads even if you haven't watched the movie on the designated day.
Even if you haven't watched it in years, or are not participating in the Horror Challenge, please feel free to chime in.
Spoiler tags are unnecessary in here, so if you have yet to see the film BEWARE OF SPOILERS.

I'm sure I've passed this up a few times but it delivers. Some of the haunting is over the top but it's unsettling. Great plot idea of a haunted friend spending the night. Quality film here.

The cover makes me think it's one of the Paranormal Activity rip-offs and there's not even a wikipedia page for the film. The only reason I don't think it'll be total crap is because someone picked this for a subset.

I sort of liked it. Great acting from the lead especially, nice soundtrack, great tension. The creatures were very nicely done, but it might have worked better without them, just staying a psychological horror. Way too dark at times, a few silly moments, and maybe more could have been done to show them being convinced to believe him, as they seemed a bit too accepting.

Just finished it and this is the absolute low point of the challenge for me. People I don't care about doing nothing for the first half of the film. Then, at exactly the second half, things pick up but I had long ago lost interest. It's also one of those films where 15 minutes in, you know that that's exactly how it's going to play out.
Just another DTV film trying to get in on the ghost craze.

I think that, in all fairness to this film, I should hold off any sort of critical judgement until after I've seen it again. It's taken me approximately four hours to get through this film, as my ISP has apparently decided to take a weekend break; ergo, my Netflix streaming doesn't. It will trickle a bit here and there, but I never get more than about six minutes of uninterrupted video, and then it has to "refresh" for about ten. I called said ISP and asked them to check on it; they said that there did seem to be something wrong with the line, but no one would be available to look at it until tomorrow. At least this was the last of the streaming subset films for me. I have a feeling, though, than an uninterrupted watch won't help tremendously--I was getting the same vibe while watching The Possession of David O'Reilly that I got when I watched Session Nine, and I really don't like that movie. I'm not a fan of movies that try to get inside the mind of a mentally unhinged person and show us what's it's like in there, and that's what this one seemed to be doing (except, of course, for the last shot, which makes me think that the directors couldn't make up their minds). I WILL say that I thought that the music was great.
