I feel like I need to watch Lake Mungo again to get the most out of it. Although the actors were often monotone, the photo/video "ghost" gag never got old. This was an interesting and tense film. I love how the Alice figure just stands to the side in photos/video and there's a good sense of disconnectedness/loneliness. There seems to be a lot of vague aspects open to interpretation. Thanks for the subset pick, Darth Maher.

Thanks to darth maher, I gave this film a watch on netflix streaming and found myself very enthralled with this story. I tend to be fascinated with things that are based on true stories such as dateline and that's the tone this had. I feel like it was almost not even a horror movie even though there are elements that point towards horrific concepts, but regardless I don't regret watching a single moment of this. It was quite unsettling at times and the empath in me felt for this family's grief.

I agree. It felt more like a drama than a horror movie, like something you'd see on Nightline.
My only disappointment was that I expected it to be "scarier". There were a couple of decent, "oh that's clever" scenes but I never really felt the suspense.

I agree that it was more of a drama for me. I felt so bad for this family. I liked the movie a lot, but I wish people hadn't told me how scary it was, because I was let down when it didn't live up to those expectations. Still a good movie though.

At the end did the family just start to ignore the ghost because they had found closure (thereby ignoring the real connection with the deceased via haunting)?
