Re: The Horror Film Club
I took the liberty of making the first selection to get the ball rolling...
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/gKRp1FXQSgc&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/gKRp1FXQSgc&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
EDIT: I chose this primarily because it was recently released, which means very few of us watched it (two, on VHS) for the horror challenge. That, and I consider it to be an underrated semi-classic.

YES!!!!!
Thanks chad.
I nominate Maniac, such a classic, and everyone should see it.

A suggestion I made in the other thread, and I don't know if you saw, but why not make the first 2 or 3 suggestions yourself and then wait to see who responds to the reviews and discussions before choosing the next few selections. That way people who particpate are the ones who choose movies.

Maybe only let people make choices if they actively participate in at least three previous threads.
In the Criterion Club, we have people choosing films and not even participating in the thread for that film, let alone others.
When you choose a film, you are encouraging ~100 others to buy or rent that film. You owe it to them to make that effort worthwhile by making your film's thread full of useful conversation, and by returning the favor and watching their film choices.

Bad Moon
A underrated werewolf flick. It's not perfect, but aside from one bad shot of CG it's got some of the coolest werewolf FX work in a long time. Great book, too.

I wouldn't even let people choose movies at this point. When it's a person's time to choose, send them a PM or let them know in the thread and give them a couple days to pick. If they don't, go to the next person.
But if we are choosing, I pick Puppet Master

Yep. The current snapper-case release can be had from Amazon for just $5.79. Or, as dcrw6 said, you can get it in a 4-film collection with some other good titles.

^ and ^^, thanks.
I was mainly asking because in my brief search Netflix was showing it as 'save', which usually means that it is OOP or not released yet.
Have the other three titles, but I'll pick up the single release if I don't own it already. Love Mariel Hemingway.

Re: The Horror Film Club
Well apparently I misremembered the name. I thought I had a VHS of a creepy evil children movie called that but I can't seem to find it now. Sorry about that. Just disregard my suggestion.

Haven't been to the DVD Talk forum much since the challenge, but I'm thrilled to see some forward movement with the Horror Film Club!
I'll suggest The Living Dead at Manchester Morgue. I did a blind buy of the Blu-ray and have yet to see it. This would be a good excuse!

Yep, I think you should take steps to ensure participation.

And Darth Maher brought up a good point before deleting his thread (I see everything) - just because some of us don't participate in one thread doesn't necessarily mean we won't in others or something to that effect. I would have been more specific but he deleted his thread.
