Will there be a TV on DVD Challenge this year? seems like there was usually a thread by now.

edit: If no one objects, i'll make a Discussion and List thread. I'll wait till tomorrow like at 12 pm CT to see if anyone else is going to do it.

Just now saw your edit. That works for me. I was just coming to the thread to offer myself. With everything going on in my life right now though, I'm happy to let someone else do it.

The Oscar nomination are going to be announced on January 23. I will run the Challenge unless someone else is interested in taking up the mantle.

I thought about watching a potential nominee last night then wondered when the noms were going to be announced.

It's going to be a long challenge this year since the Ceremony isn't until March 10. Plenty of time to watch a LOT of stuff.

The Oscar Challenge discussion thread and list thread are available.

The February Music/Romance challenge is back! I know some people don't like overlapping challenges at certain times of the year, but anyone should feel free to skip the ones they don't want to participate in. :)

Crap, almost forgot about the Quadrennial Leap Day Challenge. And forgot to take vacation in advance. Only work 3 days a week (12 hour shifts) and of course am working all three days of the Challenge.

I'm willing to babysit/herd/host this year's Action/Adventure/Crime/Mystery challenge again, this year.

Re: "Official" DVDTalk Challenges Compendium

Decided to get the Action/Adventure/Crime/Mystery Challenge discussion thread up early because of the three! overlapping Challenges this year. I'll get the list thread up sometime next week, next weekend at the latest.

It's May 1! Are we not having the Make-Your-Own Challenge?

I just PM'd Dimension X, who ran it last year but hasn't posted on the forum in a month and made a list for the B-movie challenge but didn't record anything. If he doesn't respond, I can make a list thread.

I was going to step up for the SF/F and Animation Challenges if they ended up orphaned this year.

We’ll see, but LJG usually likes to do the pair of them.

Re: "Official" DVDTalk Challenges Compendium

Yeah, LJG did a lot of work on the SF/F Challenge last year getting it set up for this year so I would be surprised if they didn't do it but it sure is nice to have someone willing to do it if that doesn't work out. Thanks for being here if we need you coyoteblue!

In the past, I’ve run it when it was orphaned, but someone else would have to this year. I’m in grad school now and between school and work, there is no way I would have time to run it. It is a challenge that I’ve always enjoyed however, so if someone else wants to step up, I would take part in watching.

I've been bad at participating in challenges lately but I created the historical challenge threads. They'll need some cleanup later.

Thanks for the offer! I still plan on doing both July and August's challenges this year. I'll get the Sci-fi/Fantasy one started in the next couple days. If something comes up, I'll definitely reach out!

Animation Challenge list thread is now listed. I have officially expanded the challenge to cover the weekend, so it now ends on Sept. 3rd at dawn. This will be a change for this year only.

ICYMI, I started a discussion thread for next month's challenge. The first order of business is deciding whether to revert back to a Criterion-specific challenge. If you're a potentially interested participant, I invite you to chime in over there.

Due to the wildfires, the Oscar voting deadline has been extended and now the nominations will be announced on the 19th. I'll post the discussion thread on Monday to give the TV Challenge a bit more time to itself.

Damn, y'all. We'll have Academy Awards overlapping with the end of TV on DVD* and much of Romusical, which is typical. But I'm also doing the Criterion and History of Horror challenges on Letterboxd this year. I feel like I'm getting into Trevor -level ambition!
