Shazam! Fury of the Gods (2023, D: Sandberg) -- S: Levi -- The Spoiler Reviews Thread

I liked it well enough. I listened to a non-spoiler review that pointed out some of the repetitiveness of the jokes, as if the filmmakers/studio either weren't confident enough in the jokes or did...

Re: Wrath of Man (2021, D: Guy Ritchie) - S: Jason Statham

Same here. I'll definitely see this in theaters.

Re: Nobody (2021, D: Naishuller) S: Bob Odenkirk

Very well said. The reviewer on RogerEbert.Com said it could stand to be a little bit longer, and I agree. I would have liked to see the set piece at the "Bank" played out in real time. The final...

Re: Prop Culture (Disney+) -- premieres 5/1/20

TomOpus buried the lead..to get Rick Moranis for this! Kathleen Turner to a lesser extent.

Re: Will Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019) be #1 domestic box office of all-time?

Agreed that it won't be the number #1 of 2019, much less of all time. I'm expecting a box office better than Solo, less than Last Jedi.

Re: Sinead O'Connor attempts suicide

IDK, her voice sounds sort of fried, but I do appreciate the passion behind it. That smile and acknowledgement at the end though...

Re: Westworld (S2E08) -- "Kiksuya" -- 6/10/18

I thought this was one of the best episodes of the run.

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (Howard, 2018) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

Eh...I really was indifferent towards it. I didn’t hate it as I did The Last Jedi.

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi (R. Johnson, 2017) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

I hated this movie. I hated, hated, hated it. As a member of the Original Trilogy generation I'm guessing this movie and the ones following it aren't for me. And that's fine. But I never though...

Re: Baby Driver (Wright, 2017) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

Just got back. Loved it, but Wright definitely didn't land the ending.

Re: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (Gunn, 2017) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

I don't know, I think there was way too many uses of "shit". Funny how that kind of stuff jumps out at you when you have a five-year old and a two-year old.

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Abrams, 2015) — The Reviews Thread

Just got out. I'll do you all a favor: there is no reason to see this in 3D.

Re: It Follows (2014, D: David Robert Mitchell) S: Maika Monroe

Can't remember if there was no sound, but worth noting that they were all movies in the public domain, for budget constraints. Charade being the most telling example.

Re: Zero Dark Thirty -- D: Bigelow S: Chastain, Strong, Edgerton, Adkins -- 12/19/12

Is there any shaky-cam in this? Or at least to the extent it was used in The Hurt Locker? Want to see this today but not in the mood for two-plus hours of handheld cinematography.

Re: Counting Cars discussion thread

Exactly. They set the tone for me with the preview episode with the "Bullitt" restore for Rick. I want to see the work, not the contrived hijinks of the workers. This shift in focus completely...

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan, 2012) — The Reviews Thread

I did see Batman and Robin twice in the theater because I couldn't believe it was that unbelievably bad after the first time.

Re: IFC No Longer Commercial Free

What is stubborn about this? I equate it to commercials at the movies. Why pay a premium for programming to have it interrupted by commercials? I would cancel as well.

Re: What is the first movie you saw with your spouse/partner?

I had a similar experience.

Our first movie was to be Three Kings, but when we arrived at the theater, the a/c unit atop the building had leaked through that screening room and they weren't...
