from the maker's of 'Coraline' - so now the lead character is a boy - this looks fun and really really twisted - can't wait!

Surprised this didn't get a bump with the movie's release this weekend. Saw this yesterday and really enjoyed it. The spooky horror feel is spot on, a loving ode to horror films fit into a family film that somehow works. It's sort of a midpoint between Coraline and Monster House in tone, and I liked both of those films. Note: I saw the 2d version so I can't comment on the 3d.

Didn't know it was coming out so soon. I'll have to check it out, probably 3D. Will check it out Thursday.

Interesting style, and some great moments for horror-movie fans, but it seemed a little messy in the middle. Still, I give it a strong B. It has a great ending, very powerful.

For a film shot in 3D and currently playing in 3,429 across the country, Focus is not really advertising the 3D aspect of the film ...
... or even playing the 3D version of the film. There's only three theaters in Vegas that have a dedicated screen to the 3D version. The other theaters playing it have two-to-three screenings max of the 3D version. Weird. Step Up Revolution, which had a smaller theater count, actually played in two screens (1 2D, 1 3D) in most theaters here in Vegas.

Just got back from seeing this. Good stuff. It got a bit slow in the middle, but not slow enough to hinder my enjoyment of it. I was just very surprised that my theater had it playing in one of their smallest rooms. Place was pretty packed.

This was pretty good. Funny, sweet, and a lead who's into monster/ horror movies. This movie was right up my alley. Took my son who is still learning to stay fully quiet but he was still during the ending when the "witch" tries to stop Norman. Surprisingly poignant at times also. It's just a joy to watch the craft at work in a movie like this also. One of the best movies for me this year.

Thought this was a great movie. Just as good as Pixar's best.
Started off strong with the faux grindhouse zombie opening.
They were able to make it a bit creepy and adult, but still made it light and goofy.
The ending was devistating. I thought I was going to explode from holding back the waterworks.

I enjoyed ParaNorman, an overall sweet movie that was fairly entertaining and clever. I enjoyed a lot of the horror references and characters. Oddly enough Norman himself could have been fleshed out more, along with his parents, but the good definitely outweighed the bad. Was funnier than I expected it to be too.

It was funny for adult audiences and kids who get the humor, but this isn't for kids under 6 - several families up and left with their kids because the intensity was a tad much.

My three year old was fine. He never got uncomfortable, hasn't had any nightmares for a few days now. Again, it depends on the kid.

The good intentions of the zombies and witch made it less frightening.

parents tend to shelter their kids too much if you ask me. Read them the original Grimm fairytales and they'll become less jaded.
I guess I had forgotten from seeing the trailers ad nauseum, but the film is displayed in scope (2.35) which is infrequent for stop motion features.

So this doesn't seem to be hitting too big. I think that people are writing it off as another average CGI kids movie.

I watched it a second time over the weekend. Noticed some things...
1. It was scored by Jon Brion. I mostly know him from PT Anderson's movies.
2. In the first scene, the Grandma says something about sitting down and having a talk with the gouls.
3. Post credits scene shows Norman being built on a workbench.
