Wrath of Man (2021, D: Guy Ritchie) - S: Jason Statham
EXCLUSIVE: Jason Statham, who broke out playing the fast-talking protagonists in Guy Ritchie’s Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch, is reuniting with the filmmaker again. The new as-yet-untitled project is a revenge-based action thriller from Miramax, which has acquired remake rights to the original 2004 French film Le Convoyeur from StudioCanal to make it happen.
The plot follows H, a cold and mysterious character working at a cash truck company responsible for moving hundreds of millions of dollars around Los Angeles each week. Weaving through a suspenseful and carefully constructed narrative, the film shifts across timelines and between various characters’ perspectives for a thrilling and mind-bending experience.
Miramax CEO Bill Block and Ivan Atkinson will produce.
Said Ritchie: “I’m looking forward to bringing this story to life and working with Jason while he still has the use of his knees.”
This will mark Ritchie’s latest pic that returns him to his frenetic Cockney action-comedy roots: After his big success directing the Disney tentpole Aladdin he is next up with The Gentlemen, starring Matthew McConaughey as an expat marijuana kingpin in London who wants out of the biz, and the bad guys scheming to take over his empire.
Statham, now a star in the action genre, is coming off with Dwayne Johnson the Fast and Furious spinoff Hobbs & Shaw, which has grossed $758 million globally since its August bow.
“Working again with Guy Ritchie on our second collaboration together, alongside renowned actor Jason Statham, is a privilege, and we anticipate that the tone and flavor of these two longtime friends will resurrect nothing less than a true, genre classic,” Block said.
The deal for the new pic was negotiated via Patrick Knapp at Goodman, Schenkman & Brecheen.

I think it would be awesome if Ritchie/Statham collaborated on the the sequel to Layer Cake - Viva La Madness. Statham owns the rights to the film and I believe they shot a pilot for it to continue on as a tv series but there were no takers.

The armored truck heist movie from Miramax is an English-language remake of the 2004 French thriller Le Convoyeur, which featured Jean Dujardin (The Artist).

EXCLUSIVE: MGM and Miramax’s Guy Ritchie-directed action thriller Wrath of Man is moving to the May 7-9 weekend, which was recently given up by Disney/Marvel’s Black Widow. Wrath of Man was previously dated for April 23.
United Artists Releasing will be distributing the feature, which reps the filmmaker’s fourth film with leading man Jason Statham, a canon that began with 1998’s Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. The duo are teaming again on a fifth Miramax movie with STX which is currently untitled (though formerly known as Five Eyes).
Wrath of Man, written by Ritchie and Ivan Atkinson and Marn Davies, follows a mysterious and wild-eyed new cash truck security guard (Statham) who surprises his co-workers during a heist in which he unexpectedly unleashes precision skills. The crew is left wondering who he is and where he came from. Soon, the marksman’s ultimate motive becomes clear as he takes dramatic and irrevocable steps to settle a score. Producers are Ritchie, Atkinson and Miramax’s Bill Block. EPs are Louise Killin, Joshua Throne, Steven Chasman and Andrew Golov.

Guy Ritchie hasn’t thrilled me over the years with his movies like he has with others on this forum but I thought The Gentlemen was wonderful, and without a doubt, my favorite movie of his so far so I’m holding out hope that he’ll continue that momentum here.

Actually, he was slated to direct at one point, so that's not 100% true.

I have to agree. "The Gentlemen" is also my favorite Ritchie film. Post "Snatch", his career has been interesting to say the least. I also liked "RocknRolla" a great deal. And "The Man from U.N.C.L.E." was fun. But everything else has been "meh" or terrible. I'm still reeling that he did "Aladdin". I didn't last 15 minutes watching that film. Dreadful.

i'll see this in a heartbeat. love Statham and that looked great. nothing at all like a Guy Ritchie film (who i enjoy, most of his older stuff, liked the first Sherlock Holmes, never saw second), so it could have been directed by any decent action director in Hollywood now, but except for Statham (who Ritchie loves and uses a lot), this has no markings of a Ritchie film whatsoever. but, that won't stop me from seeing what i think looks like a smart, kick ass action thriller. kinda like Spike Lee's Inside Man, which again is an oddity in Lee's collection as it also has no markings of a Spike Lee joint, except for using Denzel yet again.

Yeah, that doesn’t look like a typical Ritchie film. I’m not sure if I’m more excited about that or not.
I’ll still see it anyway.

I’ll check it out, but if it ain’t a British gangster film, then Ritchie misses pretty much every time. This looks like a miss to me.

Looks more like Ritchie doing a more typical Jason Statham movie. Or less stylized.
Looks solid for an action thriller. A genre I’m losing interest in as I get older.

The trailer pretty much showed the whole movie - so I don't need to watch the movie now.
