Make sure you have some scratch. It is like 35k to build the boardwalk .

I'm already thinking ahead and trying to decide if I will forgo some of the next few building constructions in the main game in favor of Squidport purchases. The land and water purchases will cost quite a lot. While it hasn't come up yet, I know the next building up for construction in the regular quests will be the post office. I suppose I can wait for a little while to build that.
But then I think of it like this and wonder how much I really should deviate from the regular game.

Just a heads up. There's some kind of glitch so don't tap the tiles on your neighbors squidport. It resets their build time. I've already spent 900 and wasted four hours because of it.

I'm not even necessarily talking about an entire waterfront full of boardwalk either, just that it seems like it will take a really long time to be able to get very far at all with it.

I'm glad to see that most of the new buildings aren't only obtained via donuts.
I'm working my way through the quests now. I think I'm in part 4 of the Squidport quests.

Well, I just made it to my 6th or 7th piece of boardwalk....24 hours and 5k to build it. This is already ridiculous. I can barely fit two buildings on my current boardwalk, so this is definitely going to take weeks/months to finish up. I guess it's cool we have something to do.

There HAS to be another way to get Boardwalk pieces. Maybe buildings on Boardwalk generate boardwalk pieces instead of money?

Re: The Simpsons: Tapped Out
Just started the update last night and agree that the boardwalk pieces are annoying. Not only are they slow, but they have to be actively started (not to mention paid for), which makes it even slower. No doubt most people are going to have boardwalks that are crammed full of buildings with no room to actually walk on them.

Re: The Simpsons: Tapped Out
Just popping in to say 'hi' quick. I've been putting my characters on 12- and 24-hour tasks this and next week as I'm away from my phone pretty much this whole time and built quite a bit of bank. For some reason I thought I'd have to get some more of the land closest to the shoreline opened up for Squidport and obviously that's not the case so now I have this big strip of land just sitting dormant and my bank is depleted, just in time for Squidport. Depressing. Anyway, hope to be able to get back into the swing of things sometimes at the end of next week. I updated the OP with the Squidport landing screen, as if anyone needs to see it more often.
I admit, I think I will miss the social aspect of Whacking Day since Squidport doesn't have that built into it so hopefully we can share and listen about what we're doing with the game here to ask for tips and keep each other updated / connected.

Re: The Simpsons: Tapped Out
I am wondering if the cost and time to build each of the single boardwalk pieces is just going to keep going up. At some point, its going to cost too much for a single boardwalk piece, especially when you need to purchase land along the water and water based areas and that each building will likely take at a min 2-4 boardwalk pieces to build on.
I'm not sure how many I'm into it, maybe 4-5 pieces. But my current build for a single boardwalk piece is 16 hours, cost of 3350.

Re: The Simpsons: Tapped Out
As people have said you can easily make $100K a day once you start getting close to level 30. So $3k isn't much, but of course it will go up and up and longer and longer to build. As soon as it is available, I buy another piece of the pier and will just stockpile as I can definitely see this as more time consuming than money depleting, but until I have extra cash to buy more of the ocean I will not be building, I only have one ocean plot so far. But it does look like it was a huge update with lots of stuff to add. I was beginning to worry I was going to run out of new stuff to do, but this update pushed that possibility back about 12 months. I do wish there was something more to do when visiting friends though. I just do the first 3 clicks I see and move to the next one in 5 seconds.

Re: The Simpsons: Tapped Out
Yeah, I try to be a good neighbor and tap people's bigger items, but there's often not a lot of incentive when, e.g., Mordred has already announced he's not playing any more so I know there's really no point in helping his orange houses instead of his brown houses.
Working on the 12-hour boardwalk piece right now and was cursing myself for letting an hour lapse between the last piece finishing and remembering to start a new one.
I notice they finally upgraded Other Springfield from level 20 to level 30.

I'm level 30 and if I'm lucky I make 70,000 a day. I refuse to house farm so I'm just plodding along. I'm not in a huge hurry though. I read that the last tile takes 3.5 days to build.

I also don't house-farm but I'm not really sure how much I make per day. Right now I'm at 94,110 XP and $3,190,571, having already set my characters to eight-hour tasks for the day. I think I'll check tomorrow and see where I am.
