Sorry, I don't feel like looking back through this thread. I stopped caring about "winning" arguments on the internet at least 10 years ago.

I just think the idea that this thread has an extreme pro-MS bias is -screwy- beyond belief. There's been plenty of crapping from both ends of the spectrum.

my guess is, it will be a lot better. it's got a better camera and a wide field of view. i know my 3 year old son has issues occasionally playing kinect sports bowling due to his size.

I would have to assume they have improved that, however would be hesitant to come out and say "The Kinect now tracks your small children more realistically than ever before!" because, well you know why.

It's not an argument. You just made an assertion, and I hoped you could support it with some kind of evidence.

This is an assertion that no one has made.

See this is one thing MS could clarify. I also assume it will be better, but it's just one more thing MS is letting the internet decide instead of just getting out there and laying down the details.

There'll have to be a Kinect event at some point. Maybe at Gamescom? I mean, they didn't even mention the thing at E3.

Granted, he makes the mistake of doing the same thing back to Music, but I find it amusing that you posted a link that shows the opposite of what I think you intended. :)

I wasn't attacking him, I was expressing my frustration with his constant negative posts on the One and MS.

To paraphrase Atrium (whoever the fuck that is), there are a few of "you" that seem out to prove how much MS and the One sucks, vs Sony.

Which causes a few of the others to appear to be defending it, because of all the threadcrapping that is going on.

Stop stirring the pot and move along... :p

My posts are negative cause the general tone towards Xbox One has been negative, they fall in line pretty accurately with the general public's.

And quit fucking bringing up how my name lacks recognition to you like it's supposed to cut deep. it doesn't, your opinion of me as a poster matters little to me, and my lack of familiarity mostly has to do with having about 20x less posts than you. This is why this forum doesn't get new members.

on that note, I'm done defending any position or opinion in the past, and will only be discussing future MS & Sony news :)

Both discussions are well served by a healthy discussion of pros and cons. Posting pros doesn't make you a cheerleader and posting cons doesn't make you a troll, provided both are factual.

I won't "move along", but I'm happy to "move on". :p

I'm not demanding respect, would rather just not be disrespected every time I'm addressed. ok? :)

Interesting Q&A about Dead Rising 3: http://herocomplex.latimes.com/games...ne-new-poster/

Thought this in particular was notable..

JB: We have a feature in the game that essentially interweaves through the story and tells its own story with its own character. It’s as though the game kind of comes out of the screen and you’re literally holding it in your hand. You’ll get calls from this character, text messages and just additional game play from this device, which is kind of cool. We geeked out on it because it was cool just to have our phones be part of the game. It’s something we were surprised by, how many folks were really excited by that. It’s new for us as developers to have this opportunity that we haven’t had before, and now going onto Xbox One we had this. We tried to really run with it and tried to give it its own character, essentially.

It sounds like a slightly more interactive and randomized version of the recordings in Bioshock or Arkham Asylum. I can dig it.

Only a couple of games made interesting use of the speaker on the Wii remote, but one of them, Silent Hill: Shattered Memories was memorable for doing something kind of like this.

I hope the part where they say "on your smartphone that you can hook up to the console" doesn't mean you have to have a specific phone to make it work.

I said long ago, maybe with the first game that it would have been awesome to actually get those calls on your actual cell. It's cool to see them finally implement it, but I'm still not sold on the shit brown generic FPS/TPS look the game has.

pre-orders aren't so bad, it seems:
http://news.cnet.com/8301-10805_3-57...-of-preorders/

The Xbox One is proving a hit even before it officially launches, according to its maker.
Preorders for the Xbox One have surpassed the number seen by the Xbox 360 during its prelaunch months, Microsoft has reported. The upcoming console has been sold out at most of its major retailers in the U.S.
But the Xbox 360 continues to heat up sales.
For the 30th month in a row, the 360 was the top-selling console in the United States last month as consumers bought more than 140,000 units. Total spending on the Xbox 360 (including hardware, software, and accessories) hit $197 million in June, research firm NPD said on Thursday, the highest number for any console in the U.S.

Not really unexpected. The "market" is bigger this time around. But at least it shows that it's not all doom and gloom over in Redmond. ;)

I actually expect the XBone to do just fine.

Even if they screw everything up, they still have brand loyalty, achievements, existing friends lists and CoD on their side. A lot of people also prefer the controller layout.

I actually think they'd have dominated North America if they'd put some energy into backwards compatibility. Sony had no chance at backwards compatibility with the cell, but I would think 360-XBone would have been relatively easy.

There were pre-orders offered on the Xbox 360? I seem to just remember chaotic lines of idiots at Walmart, Circuit City, Best Buy and Target.

Michael Corvin 07-19-13 09:07 AM

re: Xbox One: We said WHAT at E3??

a few points of interest:

- pre-orders weren't what they are now when the 360 came out. Did amazon even do pre-orders then? Target? WM? BB? i.e. if you wanted one you had to pre-order at GS(IIRC who were constrained to 3-4 per store) or camp out
- MS was coming off a 20m fan base, not a 75m fan base
- likewise, thanks to Nintendo the entire market has grown
- 360 was supply constrained at launch
- article specifically states 'over the same period of time' so essentially 6 weeks in early summer 5 months from launch
- no actual numbers given
- X1 on Amazon has fallen out of the top 50 bestsellers

Pre-orders should be much higher than the 360 pre-orders, even with all the hoopla surrounding the console.

It's all MS spin to paint things in a positive light. Show some actual figures MS. I'm sure some will take offense to this comment(OMG a positive article, how dare he point out facts!), but sometimes you gotta call a spade a spade. It's PR spin and damage control.

Groucho 07-19-13 09:09 AM

re: Xbox One: We said WHAT at E3??

As I recall, there were Amazon pre-orders available for the 360 but they only had a handful and were sold out almost immediately. Ditto other online retailers.
