All I know is that every time I saw the list over the past week, the X1 was the number 1 item...saw it maybe 2-3 times on separate days. Doesn't really matter, just that the article makes it seem like it JUST happened ;)
I find it odd that the only two next gen games in the top 20 are both X1, and neither are Watch Dogs! Better? Also note that it has been sold out for a while now. |

Pretty sure the Xbox One was the number 1 pre-order item on the Amazon chart the entire time.
http://bgr.com/2013/06/21/xbox-one-p...ation-4-amazon [After] Microsoft and Sony each made their E3 announcements, preorders of both the standard edition PlayStation 4 and the launch bundle... topped Microsoft’s Xbox One on Amazon.com, as ranked by the site’s best-sellers list in the video games category. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=593486 Note that the PS4 Launch Day Edition (no games) has been sold out since June 12, although there are still Launch Day Edition bundles available. The fragmenting of the PS4 SKUs is likely what's enabling Xbox One to regain the top spot. Amazon has four PS4 bundles in addition to the Standard Edition, while the Launch Edition is dropping in rank due to no new sales. Interestingly, the PS4 controller is selling better than the Xbone controller. Assuming the same percentage of buyers for each console are buying a 2nd controller, this would seem to indicate that the PS4 is selling better overall. |

http://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-Wa...dp/B00DE2W5M2/ In fact, the PS4 bundles are likely keeping the sales ranks of the individual games lower than they would otherwise be. It's thus not surprising that the Xbone games are higher, since there's no way to get those games bundled with the console (at least on Amazon). |

re: Xbox One: We said WHAT at E3??
In Canada, the PS4 was OOS on amazon.ca (everywhere in fact) long before it became OOS on amazon.com, and the XB1 was/is still available.

re: Xbox One: We said WHAT at E3??
Yeah, I am not buying any additional controllers at launch.
|
re: Xbox One: We said WHAT at E3??
Yeah, I bought a second PS3 controller at launch. It never got used (heck, it never even got opened), and then they came out with a better controller anyway.
Crap, I just realized how much money I've spent on arcade sticks last gen... guess it'll be a while before I buy any fighting games on the new system. |

For the most part I consider this forum to have very few real trolls or blind loyalists to one side or another. I think people commented before that the majority of this site seemed to be 360 gamers over PS3 gamers anyway. So I can't imagine the kinds of flame wars erupting on other sites.
I will say that I'm surprised there are so many people who thought that the Microsoft vision was this revolutionary thing that we're now going to completely miss out on. I don't think anyone has true animosity towards Microsoft, at least in the gaming world, it's just over their decision this generation. The same posters probably ridiculed the giant crab of last gen, or the wii motion controls and dual screen when those were announced. And I'm sure if Sony wins this gen, they'll come right back with some insanely stupid, prideful decision next gen to open the door to their competition that we'll all ridicule. |

I've personally owned some variation of every console worth owning going back to the 2600, and could have gone either way this generation. I was seriously disappointed with Sony early this generation, but I think they got it together within the first couple of years. I'm confident MS can do the same. I think this will all blow over before the actual launch and the One will do just fine, especially if it has a couple of killer exclusives. |
re: Xbox One: We said WHAT at E3??
According to Amazon it's already blown over. ;)

Now I'm really confused....
First Gamestop is no longer accepting pre-orders fro the Xbox One... http://www.designntrend.com/articles...pre-orders.htm GameStop has stopped taking pre-orders for Xbox One, as many GameStop locations have reached their launch cap. Polygon reported that senior managers send out a nationwide email to GameStop store managers earlier this week telling them to stop accepting pre-orders. Supposedly, many had already stopped taking launch-date orders, since they had "run out of individual store-level allocations." ...and now this....GameStop accepting "unlimited preorders" for PS4 - Report http://www.gamespot.com/news/gamesto...report-6410562 A leaked GameStop memo obtained by GameTrailers states that the retailer will, beginning this weekend, allow "unlimited preorders" for the PlayStation 4. "Starting now, through this weekend and until further notice, Sony has allowed us to take unlimited preorders beyond your current allotments," reads a line from the memo. "In other words, the floodgates are open for PS4 system reserves, we will let you know when to stop preordering based on limited quantities." |

Agree that it's been quite civil here...mostly just 360 folks being disappointed with Microsoft and expressing it in sensible terms.
Hell look back in the 360 threads, I've been wanting MS to jump start next gen for at least two years. I'm not down with the 8 year cycle. A year ago, or even a few months ago, I was down for whatever MS put out without a care or thought to Sony at all. Hell just glancing at my GT would give you some idea which company I typically support(despite owning all 3). So think I'm some troll is giving me a good laugh over here. Are some things exaggerated for emphasis or a laugh? Sure, but it comes from a genuine place. |

Barring any natural disasters (an earthquake in Taiwan (921 earthquake in 1999 and I believe another one later on) caused memory prices to skyrocket, the floods in Thailand in 2011 that drove up hdd prices) this should be a smooth launch, especially for Sony. |

GameStop allowed one too many pre-orders on the Wii U and it was not nearly enough to meet demand. For weeks after launch, if you called in, the automated greeting specifically stated that consoles were first come, first serve for those who had already pre-ordered one. You were not allowed to simply walk into a GameStop and just purchase one if they had them available. I would be genuinely surprised if GameStop locations had more than 20 units on launch, especially with all the retailers carrying the console. Best Buy, Fry's, K-Mart, Sears, Target, Wal-Mart, and more are just some of the retailers with hundreds of locations in North America that'll have the console on launch. The better question is, how many consoles with Microsoft and Sony launch on day one? 2M? 3M? 5M? More? |
re: Xbox One: We said WHAT at E3??
If I don't get a PS4 on launch day from my preorder, I won't be losing any sleep over it. Hell, I probably won't even own any games.
I'd have to just stare at it and hum Also sprach Zarathustra. |

The PS3 sold 86,000 units on launch day in Japan, the US was supposed to have 400,000 but they couldn't meet that and only shipped out about 240,000. The 360 doesn't have launch day numbers but it sold 326,000 units in November (launched on 22nd) in the US. The winner at that time was the Gameboy Advance which sold 690,000 units that month, the PS2 sold 531,000 units. |

If all the retails locations (i.e. Best Buy, GameStop, Target, Wal-Mart, etc.) I mentioned in my last post get at least 10 consoles per store, that would be at least 175K units out in the wild on launch. I know Best Buy, GameStop, and the Microsoft stores were allowing pre-orders for consoles. Anywhere else? |
