So Microsoft is either evil or incompetent.
Evil = Draconian DRM with no benefit to the customer. Incompetent: DRM opens you up to unlimited sharing of games. Amazing! Revolutionary! Not communicated! |
re: Xbox One: We said WHAT at E3??
It'll be brilliant if they introduce a sharing feature for digital downloads, it would promote transition from disc to digital very quickly up to about 50% of owners.

The dude saying "it was as we described" is kind of a snotty response since they barely described it.

Well I'm sure it was a tremendously promising extremely vague service that worked differently from day-to-day, depending on Microsoft's mood.

Didn't the other guy say they were still negotiating with publishers over the feature? You'd think that publishers would want some level of control over the sharing. If the used market is killing the industry, and if they only wanted users who were forward looking, didn't mind being online, and didn't mind a lot of digital stuff, well, that userbase probably overlaps a ton with people willing to share games digitally.
|
re: Xbox One: We said WHAT at E3??
The deals with developers were probably "You can do this sharing thing if you block used games."

I think you will need to open up a chat window with CS and have them apply it.

It's probably like Redbox, "You can't share in the first 90 days."

re: Xbox One: We said WHAT at E3??
After seeing the list of exclusives for both consoles that was posted a few pages back, I doubt if I'll ever buy an XO. The PS3 list was far more varied and interesting. I don't play Forza, I'm sick of Halo, don't need anymore GoW And Titanfall is coming out on the 360, right?
Also, in regards to Watch Dogs sales, I'm not buying it on release day because it's Ubisoft. It'll be $40 or less within a month. |

Does anyone know if you can retroactively apply gift cards to an order? Basically, I will soon have quite a bit of Amazon credit and wanted to put it toward my current order of the Xbox One. I see the change payment method, but I don't see anything about adding credit.

There are four of them.
Ryse Dead Rising 3 Forza 5 Kinect Sports Rivals They all say "includes exclusive in-game content that will unlock unique items and experiences and collectible box art". Most likely these will end up being like the "Limited Editions" of games that say "Exclusive content in this run only!" and then never get a second pressing. I put the first 3 in my cart. Sports Rivals should come with the system! ;) |

I've been moving it from one deluxe pre-order (Bioshock Infinite Songbird Edition) to another (Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Blacklist Paladin Multi-Mission Aircraft Edition) with the eventual plan of putting it towards a next-gen console. I just now cancelled that Splinter Cell pre-order and went into my PS4 pre-order and there was a highlighted message at the top of the screen telling me I had a $150 gift card balance and would I like to apply it towards this order. I clicked Yes. Now I just owe $250 for the system (and I have another birthday between now and then. Come on, In-laws!!!

I've added Amazon gift cards to pre-orders numerous times in the past. |

They need a Gaikai (currently non-existent) style service. |
re: Xbox One: We said WHAT at E3??
Did we already know that "Spark" is free on Xbox One? Well, at least partially F2P with some DLC add-ons etc? Seems cool and now I will actually try it out. I just read about this today, but I guess they announced it a few days ago.

I just want a Sega Channel-esque service. Flat monthly fee, no additional costs, unlimited games. Whoever does it first, Microsoft or Sony, will get all my money. |
