Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night
If the teams are balanced, it's awesome, but all it takes is one guy who's good with the rocket-launcher and flame thrower to end the game in 5-10 minutes. And if the teams are at all uneven, the short manned team has no time to recover since you can grab and capture a flag inside of 20 seconds.
But I've also been in a few CTF games on that map that have been a blast. I'll find a spot for it and hope I'm wrong.

Yea it was good fun. For some reason my damn mic didnt work, nor could I hear anyone. Sucked cause for the first time you and I were on the same team the whole time. There were these 2 dudes that were just 'too good' I dont understand how 3 people can go after one guy and and he can kill all 3 off! One was a mine spammer so once I found them I spammed there ass. In the whole game, I only 2 levels where to find mines.

That's because you've been playing with our group too long! I swear, if they removed mines from this game (or at least gave the option), it would be perfect. As it is, all it takes is one mine-spammer to ruin a game...which is why I don't allow it.
I've been guilty of it myself when I first started, but I ultimately decided that I wouldn't sacrifice fun for cheap kills.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night
I guess I dont quite understand the mine hate...it is annoying when you get caught by them, but all you need to do is be aware of them...either have a warhawk drop a cluster bomb or roll in with a tank and all is well. Would be nice if there were a more effective way to deal with them though on foot as even if you know they are there it is difficult to diffuse them which is annoying.
Who were the guys that were "too good" last night? For the most part our team handled them pretty well until some of our pilots switched teams and then they owned the air which made our job more difficult, but we still did alright.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night
Things people do with mines that drive me nuts:
1. Sneak into your base and mine your vehicles and turrets (people usually do this when they are already winning...insult to injury)
2. Mine exits of buildings with spawn points (just dirty)
3. Mine flags and zones (these are usually obvious and not too bad)
4. Air mines above parked Warhawks (can't see them from the ground)
5. My personal favorite that I used to always do...mine the mine pickup spots.
Agreed that they aren't too hard to clear, depending on how they are hidden, but they feel cheap to me. I also can't tell you how many times I think I'm far enough away to clear a mine and find out the hard way that I'm not. Their range is ridiculous.
Anyway, it's just my take, and I didn't want new players to have to deal with them while they learn the game.
If I'm the only one, I don't mind a Tuesday with mines...just need to see some consensus.

Yeah, some of those are dick things to do that I think we will generally not do just because of the nature of the game. I think mining a zone or your flag is not unreasonable, especially given the size of our games. I would vote to not worry about them and dont impose any restrictions on them.
I do agree that the range is ridiculous though. So many times I stop a few feet away from one and it still goes off. Would be better if they were more consistent, ie if they are going to go off in situations like that then I shouldn't have to make a precise grenade throw to get them to blow up.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night
Keeping the "no mines" rule at least for tonight...glad I'm not the only one.
I will have the server up at 7 assuming no issues with internet or PSN. Map rotation will look a lot like last week with a few tweaks.
I should be able to accommodate requests from ween and Chew for maps.
I was also thinking about a "Knives and 'Nades" death match in there somewhere as long as everybody will hold to it. They can be a lot of fun if you play with cool people.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night
I'll probably not be there tonight. A lot of personal stuff has happened over the last week, and I need to take a night and plan out the next couple of months. (I'm losing my job at the end of the month, and you know how the job market is.)

I feel for you - I was in that situation in 2001 and it took a while to bounce back. I hope things get better.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night
No worries fellas, and I'm really sorry to hear that DGib.
We had 6-8 most of the night, and it was a great time. Nxlr8 was positively OWNING me that last map, and I had to Warhawk for a minute or two to decompress. Seriously, it was indescribably ugly.
Hard to keep up, but it was Eroc, Chew, VJ, Ween, Nxlr8, a new guy called "fly", Ravenous, myself, and I'm sure I'm forgetting somebody.

ween, can we work on your headset settings for next week? Your mic sensitivity may need adjusting, because it's on constantly and there's a lot of garbled noise.
On another topic, I swear there has to be some secret to increased health in this game that doesn't involve the healing mist. I knifed a guy with 2 clean shots and a third close one: he didn't die. He knifed me once and I was a sack of potatoes.
A similiar thing happened last week when I had someone in a corner and pumping him full of bullets (again, no healing mist) and it wasn't until two teammates started doing the same that he finally went down.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night
A summary of my interaction with Nxlr8 last night:
Spawn...wrench to the head...spawn...wrench to the head...spawn...let's mix it up with a grenade...spawn...back to the wrench.
How did that feel?
Pretty good, could you spit on it next time?
