Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

It's not too tough, and most of the options are self-explanatory, but I haven't done a clan mode either. I have seen the options for it in the setup menus though...just wasn't sure how it worked.

One thing I'm compelled to add: If we get a clan map started, we can't just jump on every player that wanders in. We have to give them some time to get organized and acclimated or they will get discouraged and leave. Once we get to 4 on 4, and/or once the other team appears competent, then we can open up a bit.

Sunday has been pretty shaky thus far, but folks are showing up...yeah, I think it's worth a shot.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

I doubt I'd be able to log in tonight.

Sunday I'll be on after the Stanley Cup game. If NBC would frickin' decide when the hell it's actually going to start, I could let you know. But they still haven't set a time... which is ridiculous.

A real sport would have sorted that out by now.

Ask me when the NBA Finals are starting...

Oooouuch.

The NHL's just fine. They're putting out the best product probably in the history of the sport. It's just too bad that Gary Bettman is leading the parade.

I want Bettman to get punched in the face for his various television contracts. Not only did he choose the Versus contract over ESPN's, he consistently whores the sport out to NBC to do with as it pleases... which includes back-to-back games and jerking the teams around with start times.

I'm irate. Almost as irate as when you get sniped with my rocket launcher while dodging volleys from digi.

Alright, Sunday it is...I will set it up and have it up by 8pm, although I may not be in playing until 8:30pm CST. I agree with chess that we need to let people come in and we should play nice until we get up to the full amount at which point we can attempt some level of organization and teamwork.

No worries. Plan to jump on at about 7:25 Central (first map is expansion per Chew's request), and you should be good to go until 10 or so, as I generally save the DLC maps for last.

Hopefully we'll get you hooked and you'll pick them up!

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

Just a reminder that I will setup the clan server tonight at 8pm CST. There will not be any expansion maps since Ofermod expressed interest in playing. Just look for whatever game I am in(digawok) and jump in. Hopefully we can get some others to jump in and play.

I'm in...looks like ween is setting up.

It occurs to me that I might be the common link on most folk's friends lists...or maybe you can link to people through the clan menu...not sure how that works.

...and I'm out.

The game was set up, but ween was nowhere to be found...ended up playing with some mine-spamming douchbag for about ten minutes...wasn't having any fun...back to bioshock.

Will check later.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

got sucked into bioshock for a bit...but was checking to see if any of you guys were on. All I saw was ween and Ravenous.

No worries...we'll sort it out.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

I don't mean to discourage...that dude just really irritated me. The kind of guy who bolts for the mines the second the map boots up and then talks trash. I was just cruising around looking for ween, thinking of the game as sort of like our usual lobby, and this dude was being super aggressive and then talking trash to boot. "You're gonna have to try harder than that".

On the upside, I'm loving my second run through Bioshock.

See you guys on Tuesday for some mine-free, douche-free Warhawking!

Start giving me map/mode requests now...if any.

I just want to be able to get better at the tank (maybe take out a few more Warhawks), so anything with plenty of vehicles.

Side note: I have Bioshock, but 1st person gives me motion sickness so I haven't been able to see what the fuss is all about yet.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

Sorry about not showing up last night. After the Stanley Cup disappointment, I had a cat crisis. I popped up online between the 2nd and 3rd periods to release some hockey aggression with some Rock Band drumming. Sorry I didn't respond to your message digawok, but I was venting frustration at the time.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

Yeah, last night didnt go too well, although Ravenous and I jumped into some guys private server and it ended up being a real good set of games as they were all regulars for the most part and adults.

Check.

I really liked the rotation last week. I think I'll probably keep it with a few tweaks in modes, a few changes in the order and a couple of maps replaced. I really liked some of the maps that were new to me (bigger CTF on badlands and medium size Zones on Eucadia), and I think Zones might be my new favorite mode. I also liked changing up the modes on some of our usual maps (especially liked Northern Bridge as a TDM). I think Standoff might have to go this time. I don't think it's balanced enough, and any map with Warhawks needs tanks to keep them honest.

Those who want some jetpack action need to show up at 7 this week for the first map!

Glad you guys managed to have some fun.

I think I was the first one in, and it only took 10-15 minutes to remember why I like Warhawking with you guys so much more than playing teenagers online.

Promise not to turn this into a Bioshock discussion, but I think Bioshock mostly lives up to the hype. It does have a basic design flaw in that the vita-chambers make dying preferable tu using a health pack, but the atmosphere and the story make it worth fighting through the motion sickness.

Portal, Orange Box (Half-Life and Portal), and Metroid Prime are the only FPS games I'd fight through the discomfort for, and the first two have a quicksave option, which allows you to play in small chunks.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

How about a CTF on Close Corridors(I think) on Archiepalegos? There are no vehicles at all and generally just fast fun...never played on that one with just 8 though so I dont know if that would go quick or not.
