Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

Yeah...I was a bit off tonight. Sorry. Crappy day.

I had a lot of fun early winning and losing...particularly on Island Outpost (which I lost) and Tau Crater (which I won), and all of the early jetpack maps were a blast.

I did get aggravated late when I couldn't get the teams sorted out...just too many people with varying skill levels. The hardest thing is sorting out the new guys. Even if it's me and digi on the same team, if we have all new guys otherwise, we (and they) are going to get overrun every time. I used to always focus on divvying up digi and me, but so many of you have gotten good, I have to work from the other end of the spectrum now and make sure one team doesn't get overloaded with people who don't know what they are doing.

The bigger maps felt better than I expected with the number of people we had on. I may keep going that way if we have that kind of showing.

Agreed about the dropships...though I've gotta say that we were hardly effective in it. But fill that thing with 4-5 dudes and look out. It's a shame, because I like that map otherwise.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

The only map I can think of that got out of hand early was the TDM...and honestly, I was toying around with the jetpack more than watching the score.

Still, point taken.

Was it you in that last map who kept trying to kill me and I decided to just go bat shit crazy with a Warhawk? It seemed like it went on for 60-90 seconds of me just swirling like crazy trying to dodge bullets and then the person finally caught me.

Close. Although more arched eyebrow, less of a smirk, and less sideways.

Yep. Between you and Z in the air and Chew in a missile turret, we were getting tore up pretty bad, so I just chased you around for a bit.

The funny thing is that I eventually just stopped and hovered and watched you for while. I'm not sure why I decided to use the gun instead of missiles...just seemed like the thing to do.

sorry to have missed that.

If I could toss in a vote, I'd love to do a knives and 'nades lobby again sometime. I don't know if while I was away for the holidays if that fell out of fashion or was simply forgotten, but I always had a blast with that.

Thank god. I hate the lobby, but with knives and nades it gives me a chance to just run the fuck away.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

Also, I doubt anyone noticed but I was working tonight on improving my dog fighting skills. During the first few rounds I was pretty much annihilated, but towards the end I think I was improving. Going to keep at it next week; I tried learning on the public servers but there's no room for newbs on there anymore.

Anyone have any funny moments? Sniping R2 off the back of a 4x4 was pretty funny, and someone saying they wanted to stick the rocket launcher "up my ass" during the lobby had me rolling. Nic sniping people was pretty hilarious as well, I kept trying to find him, but I had never played on the map and had no clue how to get on top of the buildings.

i don't know who it was on the island outpost map, but they came after me in a tank, I hid behind a rock and kept running around the rock until they lost sight of me. It had me cracking up.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

Couple of funny moments for me...

I actually thought a ton of funny stuff happened in the lobby
Jetpacking over to Steve's binocular spot and knifing him.
Tossing a biofield generator on Chew's tank (note that I didn't kill him though...just had a good laugh and bailed).
Somebody ran over me with a warhawk while I was jetpacking (trophy)
Messing around with Digi in the Dropship (and getting our asses kicked in the process)
K-Town flying around aimlessly in a jetpack on Archipelago and everybody ignoring him
R2 and Nic in general! Welcome back fellas!

"I think lousy driving runs in the family"

And finallly:

"I sucked in that map more than I've ever sucked before"
"That's not what I heard"

Also, kudos to digi for backing off on the Eucadia map when you guys went up 3-0. That turned out to be a great game...and ended in a tie, I think.

That's just the sort of thing I like to see the better players do.

"Bastard!"

It occurs to me I'm best on maps without any vertical aspect. I finished 2nd on Grinder by only playing defense.....I didn't capture a single flag.

i also had some of the worst flying last night, i tried to follow r2 and some others to save the flag. I think i hit a few buildings on the way before getting blown out of the sky.

haha, I had a similar moment on the same map. I was in a Warhawk and someone was tailing me so I started to fly around a mountain, but they kept following me, so we went around and around this mountain for what had to have been a dozen or more times until they finally flew off. I have no idea who that was, but it was hilarious.

Bigger kudos to my team though who was down two players against the other team and still went up 3-0 as I didnt play that entire map(although somehow got 1 kill...cant remember that one). I was impressed anyway

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

I thought the map rotation was pretty good last night (god I love jetpacks). My concerns about the bigger maps were completely unfounded, as they turned out to be some of the best ones given the number of people on. Next week, you may see full versions of Eucadia and Badlands along with Island Outpost and Tau Crater.

Any suggestions, input or criticism on the maps is appreciated. I respect that not everyone will enjoy the same things I do.

GREAT numbers last night. I think we had 15 on at one point!!!

To be fair, they were up 2-0 before we had the teams sorted out. Fuckin' Steve.

Ironically, I think he was the one who switched sides when I asked you or Z to....dude probably had 5 flag captures that round!

It was still 0-0 as both teams had the flag when steve switched.

I'll take your word for it. You had the better view from the air. I was in a menu screen the whole time trying to figure out the teams.

Nice...Chew is off the hook.

Here's a cool thing:

The OP is from 3-13-09, which means that tomorrow is our one-year anniversary for the thread and next Tuesday is our 1 year anniversary for the game!!!

It's my understanding the host will be providing cake and ice cream for our anniversary?
