Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night
Crazy night. Sorry you couldn't get in Ravenous. I don't know what kind of error you were getting. I figured out how to set up all the Clan games, but frizby and wizard had already jumped into another setup. Meanwhile I was trying to get my bluetooth to work... so I could tell everyone about the actual way to jump into a clan match, but that was a big fail. I could hear in the thing... and see my audio wave signal in the upper left but nobody could hear me.
Now I know all about the clan setup. So in the future, I'll set the clan game up under DVDTalk. No more confusion. Even if I can't get the damn bluetooth to connect correctly. Damn thing has worked dozens of times with NHL09.
So sorry for the clan fail. Hope those that jumped in had a good time in the game nonetheless.

I'm sorry dude. We could have easily jumped in on yours to do the clan thing.
Btw, chess or digiwok could y'all hear me at the end? I still can't figure out if my mic is working or not.

Good times!
I would've jumped in a clan game, but I've never set one up. Flip transferred leadership to me, and I kept it just long enough to get the trophy and transferred it to TL.
As it was, I was waiting for Flip to set it up and then got a request to start a game, so I just threw the first four maps that caught my eye together. I didn't have a ton of time to think about modes, and CTF stinks when you don't have enough people (which is why I went with more TDM). I also decided not to password protect the game, and most folks who got in weren't too bad. I banned 2 who were getting on my nerves a bit (and got a "noob" message from one of them
)
I especially enjoyed playing the new crater map...maybe my favorite map in the game. I also liked getting to play on ween's team a bit as it allowed me to mix up my strategy more. TL is getting pretty dangerous on defense, at least from a Warhawk point of view, and he killed me a bunch of times. One DM game he had 14 kills, and I think they were all me
TL, you sounded fine for a minute there, but that's the only time I heard you...didn't know if you stopped talking or had technical issues. If you want to test it Tuesday, I'll give you feedback.

I just turned security off and set the name of my router to not transmit. That way, the router name effectively becomes the password, and I don't have a bunch of WAP/WEP issues. Wish I'd thought of that sooner.
Still having some oddities though, like the PS3 seems much less reliable about logging into PSN automatically.

So instead I used the evening's festivities to try some new things and have some absurd fun. You know, like trying to take out ween and ofermod tanks with only my wits and grenades... and the wrench if I could ever climb up to get it before I spotted. For the record... Tanks 27. Flipperbaby 0.
Then I tried to practice some Warhawking... and chess repeatedly put me back in my place.
More often than not my evasive maneuvers resulted in fiery balls of suicide. But I had a good time. I'll be late to the game on Tuesday so it was good to get some extra time in with the clan... even if there was no clan match to be had.

I had to rebuild my network because of it, but I'm glad I did.

Just to be sure, turning off SSID broadcast is not a replacement for security if you care about a secure network. Certainly your neighbors will not break your system unless you have a teenager living near by with interests in downloading movies and music.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night
The Clan thing will work out next time. I thoroughly misunderstood the way clan game setup works. I assumed based on other the format of other games and how the screens were setup, that there'd be some kind of lobby or clan game invite. (I'm thinking specifically of the team lobbies in EA Sports games.) But it works just like the setup for any other Warhawk game, except you have to check the "Clan Game" box in the setup options. That's really the only difference. The way into a clan game is so clunky that I wonder how anyone gets a game that isn't prearranged. That's the main reason I didn't want to start pushing the clan match last night because I feared we'd pull out of some good gaming time just to sit in an open map waiting for something to happen.
So instead I used the evening's festivities to try some new things and have some absurd fun. You know, like trying to take out ween and ofermod tanks with only my wits and grenades... and the wrench if I could ever climb up to get it before I spotted. For the record... Tanks 27. Flipperbaby 0.

I agree with having a secure network - turn that back on. I just changed my SSID to non-broadcast as well, but make sure you have the right ports open for game playing.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night
After I couldnt get on last night I did some research and fixed the error. Apparently all I had to do was change my primary and secondary DNS. Dont know how that works but it did!
It was fun but too much DM. Than I got kicked for a level popping on that I didnt have
But I had dinner and relaxed than decided to try some Demos I D/led and you guys were still on! Why did you ban those 2 guys chess? I didnt see anything too bad they did. I wondered who they were though, I thought new board members.
I will say I despise that weak rocket that can be shot while hiding behind a rock and guiding with a camera. Cheeeeesssssseeeey.

And for the record, I was trying to go after digiwok as well, you just kept showing up more. And a man can only be so patient with a rocket launcher in his hands.
Also, the Crater map and jet packs was a lot of fun. Spent a lot of time trying to snipe people in their jetpacks and that never worked out. All it did was leave me open... a lot.

Those weren't forum members. It was an open game. And I booted them because they were too good for their current rank (game was rank limited). I know guys who are using their second or third usernames to "pwn noobs" when I see them. One of them even sent me a nasty "noob" message after I booted him. Those are the kind of people who ruin the game...at least for me.

Also bear in mind that while I'm flying the TOW, my Warhawk is 100% vulnerable.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night
I'll try it again Tuesday night. I kept saying "Can you hear me? Wait, can your really hear me?" And got maybe a response once, but then didn't get any. So I wasn't sure if y'all were annoyed that I kept asking or that I kept going after y'all with the rocket launcher or if you just couldn't hear me.
And for the record, I was trying to go after digiwok as well, you just kept showing up more. And a man can only be so patient with a rocket launcher in his hands.

I also think it's just natural instinct to "hunt" Warhawks. It was especially funny when I looked down to see the two of you 50 yards from each other and BOTH shooting at me.

Also, the Crater map and jet packs was a lot of fun. Spent a lot of time trying to snipe people in their jetpacks and that never worked out. All it did was leave me open... a lot.

Daaaaamn I want those expansion packs! But....must...wait...for....sale.
I saw one guy and his name was "{Hawk}SpongeBob" or something Was that his name or was it some sort of rank that the game gives, maybe a clan name? Ive seen that before with other people and always wondered.
Yea being left vulnerable is the only set back of the TOW. But when your the only guy in the sky against 6 others, youre pretty safe

Cant wait for the clan!

A lot of times, I fly it from so far away, I don't even know who I'm hitting. I just cruise it into the areas where folks congregate and look for movement.
...but usually, I'm looking for ween, and you should be thankful, because he'd be an absolute nightmare without me to keep him honest.

How does the TOW missile work? The few times I've been hit by it there haven't been any warhawks anywhere close to me on the map. I just hear it a'whistlin.
Do you zoom or something like with the sniper rifle?

It's like there's a camera attached to the missile. When you launch it, you switch to the first-person perspective of the rocket and fly it on home. Any Warhawk pilot with any sense flies as far away as possible to launch the things. Which is why I just tend to unleash them whenever I see an opportunity and just get shot down by the time I regain Warhawk control. I've got no sense.

All of us must download the Red Faction Guerrilla multiplayer demo this Thursday and try it! If you haven't tried the single player demo it is TOO much fun!

I like the destructible environments, but it's not nearly as fluid or responsive as...I dunno...Warhawk for instance.
