I don't complain, I go find the TOW. Or when that's lost its charm, the air mines. Completely ineffective but they make this really awesome pooping sound when deployed.

I had a lot of fun early...lots of funny stuff...but that little stretch between Badlands (with Chew bailing) and King of the Hill (repeatedly raped by tanks) was a bit of a bummer. I was probably a bit more cranky than usual as well with my fiance trying to pick a fight right before the game.

There really weren't that many new people...just mrs beefy as far as I know. We just had a really good showing from the semi-regulars, yourself included.

I also think we need to try a match where we allow air mines, because depending on how good we get with them, they could even out the air superiority, Friz or Flip are chasing me, I lay a mine down, maybe they blows up, maybe next time they arent as aggressive, who knows? i think they are different than landmines, they are cheap kills (pronounced cheap thrills)...
The problem with air mines is the same as land mines. They are fun little weapons when used in not-douchey ways (especially defensively), but they always end up above Warhawk spawn points (cheap instant death), littered all over the other team's base (so they can't get in the air) and tucked away near health pickups.

In the short term, I'd probably be most effective with them anyway since I know how to use them reasonably well from past experience...and I know tons of semi-douchey places to leave them (frequent flight paths).

I suppose if you have been getting raped for 10 minutes then it is obvious the other team is never going to recover and the game is lost, however a few minutes of assault seems like fair play and no reason to immediately call shenanigans.
I think generally that folks want to live for at least a few seconds when they spawn...maybe long enough to grab a weapon or formulate a plan.

For me, it's all just part of the "play friendly" rule. If I feel like the other team is being overwhelmed, especially if it's pointless (like when the flag is already gone), I'll always tell my team to back off. I'm just looking for that to happen from others as a simple matter of etiquette.

Also, maybe it is something that only happens when I am playing with you guys, in which case I will take that as a hint, but it seems like just about every game last night is just people getting their feelings hurt, throwing around accusations and just general complaining instead of playing the game.
No, your play style isn't cheap or douchey...just absurdly competent. My only real problem with you is that it's exceedingly hard to figure out how much to stack the other team to compensate for you.

You may not have picked up on it, but your team almost always wins, it's just a question of by how much. You always do your best to moderate that, and I appreciate it.

I know one way not to compensate. Having you on the same team as digi.

Yeah, I can't help but laugh when Chess gets happy that he's on Digi's team, because it's just the type of imbalance he always tries to counteract.

It's all good though, I always hope I'm on Digi's team, too.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

Well kids I learned alot about our bunch in the past few posts, To sum it all up:

- Digi is the God among ants when it comes to Warhawk
- Flip gets even with Tows and mines
- frizby/chess is potentially the biggest douche among us but holds back out of pity
- nic is nic
- slider is ...um... well....you know already
- and I suck and am a cheap bastard and I am too lazy to go and look at posts further back than the current page.

Did I miss anything?

Yeah, I understand this, however it never fails that the times that I give someone a chance or I fall back I end up getting shot in the back by the person I just let live. I would rather be tried by 12 then carried by 6 I dont expect any less from anyone else

Lets not forget too that on CTF you generally spawn right next to your own flag and it never fails that as I roll up and shoot someone by the flag who have just spawned they immediately take it as base raping or spawn killing. This is another case where I dont think it is the responsibility of the attacking team to let off the gas, it is the responsibility of the defending team to defend. I do think that the 5 second spawn is a bit long too which only makes this case worse...0 second may be too fast, but 2 or 3 would probably be ok.

Call it a moment of weakness.

The game almost always puts us on opposite teams, so imagine ALWAYS having to play against Digi. I always either switch or ask for "horde" when the game pairs us up. Last night I switched on King of the Hill and tried to play horde on Archipelago and Badlands.

I know this is a joke, but seeing you on the other team does very much affect the way I play...and my level of hope in general.

Mostly...three corrections:

1. I hold back because I futilely want everybody to have fun
2. Nic is an excellent driver
3. You are a cheap bastard except for CoD, where $90+ sounds just about right...and you secretly can't wait for Black Ops so you can whore yourself out again this year.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

Holy shit...Hunter just walked in and reminded me of the funniest damn thing!

I see Cruz walking...I don't know...somewhere on Island Outpost, and I slam my Warhawk down and say

"Want a lift?".

He answers by shooting me with a flame thrower.

"What the hell???? Get in!"

He runs over to my Warhawk and humps it for a minute.

"Push square"

He says "I didn't know I could do that"

I deliver him to the enemy flag and there's a jeep there lighting me up with the 50 cal.

"Hop out."

3 seconds or so go by and I'm almost dead

"No seriously, GET THE FUCK OUT!!!"

He finally gets out, but dies a few seconds later because I can't give him air support...because I'm almost dead from the clusterfuck of a drop-off.
Well played nugget!

You've gotta finish the story about how I made you kill yourself. That was epic!

"I'm not going to kill you...you're going to kill yourself."

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

Another funny one hit me a bit ago:

I'm reminding somebody on my team in a warhawk (maybe R2) that it's a no-warhawk map, and I'm standing on his wing shooting at the canopy with a pistol while he hovers straight up. He lifted me so high, it took at least 3-4 seconds to splat.

As friz was saying I fly over in a Warhawk and he says no Warhawks. I get out proceed to get the flag and jump into a heavily damaged jeep. I start to drive away and friz then uses his Warhawk to block my way. He starts to toy with me like a cat who's playing with a ball with a bell inside of it. Our conversation continues something like this :

frizby - "Hey cruz, Watch this."
cruz - "What are ya doing?"
frizby - Watch.....this'll be really funny........and you're gonna kill yourelf."
cruz - "WHAT!?!?!?!?"

He starts - pushing his warhawk into the jeep more aggressively and I did the worst thing possible.....I got out of the jeep. He then uses the warhawk to push me out of bounds. I then die as he predicted and we both bust a gut laughing about it. Good Times.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

Crazy funny at the time, because I pushed his dude wayyyy into the garden with the wing of my warhawk....even farther than I meant to.

For what it's worth, Cruz, staying in the jeep probably wouldn't have helped.

In hindsight, it was less funny because his team got pummeled....and I was on it after changing teams. I think it was Digi, Slider and Steve against Cruz, Diecast, nic or R2, and me...and my ass still hurts.

It was rediculously far and I tried to move but it just didn't matter.

It helped you.

It was still funny. I still had fun on that match and tried to get creative in the ways I was killing : jump shots from higher up, rocket launchers. I think I ran somebody over also.

Follow-up: I have a dinner that I have to go to on Tuesday. It's at 6PM, but I could see it going to 8 or later.

Chew? Flip? Can either of you you host?

I can host if necessary. I can't guarantee there won't be some shenanigans as I don't reeaalllly remember my "regular" maps. We all know what happens when I try to wing it.
