I have had the headset for a while now. The ear thing works but the mic part doesn't. That's why the thing on COD said I had a headset even though I couldn't talk.

Looks like a possibly quiet start tonight. It's spring break here, so I'll be short a couple from the office...just me and Sean, I think.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

Tough time balancing tonight fellas...and a couple of the maps I loaded were just too big for our slightly smaller numbers (10-12 was the most we had).

Still, fun times.

Funniest thing for me was sniping this little spec named nic right as he was about to call down an air strike.

It's also good to have R2 back in the game...love listening to him grief nic and brian.

"That's where I like it, right in my missile turret!"
"This game gets dirtier every week"

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

I say we just go ahead an implement the new rule: No team can get more than two flags ahead of their opposing team. Once one team gets two flags ahead, they have to strictly play defense. There's a lot of frustration and aggravation, and with everybody improving their skill level this had to have been expected. It just isn't possible to expect Chess to be able to perfectly balance the team, though for what he has to work with he does a damn good job. I can't think of one map where one team was at a stiff disadvantage, although one team will always have some kind of leg up depending on who is on what team.

Tonight I really tried to play with purpose, especially when my team was down and out, instead of my usual care free, do whatever the fuck I want attitude. Though, I did try to team kill Brian within the closing moments of each match, which I succeeded in doing three times.

Edit: Did you guys just get done playing? I would have hopped back on but I figured everyone had logged off after 11.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

I am doing my best, and it is tricky. It doesn't help that I tend to err on the side of putting myself on the weaker team and then try to do too much. The "defense rule" actually isn't a bad idea, except that a superior team focused strictly on defense will succeed at it. I like the solution that we're starting to get to a bit better where the best player on the team that's dominating drops out and watches. I do it all the time (unless your name is flip ) and I've noticed that Z and digi are doing it more lately.

I don't know if Z reads the thread, but I really appreciated him backing off a couple of times tonight.

IMO, teamkills = . I don't think 100% team damage is the right answer, but 30% feels pretty good...might even go to 40% some time, unless there's serious objection.

Jetpacks are also full of win, but jetpack knives and nades was kind of a mess.

How about a small CTF map and make it knife and nades?

i only had one intentional team kill tonight, when Nic wouldn't wait for me and drove off to capture the flag, i waited for him to grab it and then binoculared the base...overall very satisfying

Phew. That was a long thirty minutes! I ended up putting my controller down for a bit to get some work done, but was thoroughly entertained watching everyone fly around swinging their knives and tossing grenades.

Happy one year warhawkers!

Here's a question. What are we going to do when Starhawk comes out? Switch over or revel in nostalgia?

asshole.

I tried to teamkill you later in the map, but frizby had to ruin the fun with his sniper rifle.

It took until that map last night for me to finally discover turbo-boost, so it wasn't a total loss.

Does it actually have a release date?

My big laugh of the night was playing defense with eroc. I was a little ways off on top of a building, he was on the walkway (near the flag) and we were facing each other. He decides to rocketlaunch at me and I responded with binoculars. Three guesses as to who got the teamkill.

Almost impossible to chase down your flag.

Is it possible to do CTF on last night's lobby map (without the jetpacks)?

Chew predicted that it would end badly...good call on his part.

Happy one year warhawkers!
50 weeks (assuming you missed a couple) x 3 hours = I'm guessing we got our $30 worth!!!

If/when it comes out, we'll just have to wait and see...but Incog has to be working on something.

I hope it's not too "spacey", since I like the retro vehicles, and I hope any new retail release keeps the current maps integrated somehow. I'd really hate to lose multiplayer gems like Eucadia, Badlands or Archipelago.

It is possible both with and without jetpacks.

With jetpacks, you can capture a flag on that map inside of 2-3 seconds.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

I really think the only reason some of the games were as close as they were was because of the full scale maps. I liked it better that way, but I might be in the minority. It may also suck more for those who aren't comfortable flying a Warhawk, but that also opens the game up for competitive base-taking so those people can spawn closer to the competitor's flag.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

I went a little too big with some of the maps...took for granted that we'd have a couple more people. Eucadia, in particular, is HUGE...but overall, it's still my favorite map.

Big maps do favor flyers without question...which isn't the balance I'm looking for.

Will reassess for next week.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

I do read the threads, its just that I lurk more than I post.

Frustration of the night: Fucking Slider!!! With his TOW's all night long!

The first map with the jetpacks was really a mess and was giving me a headache. All that moving around.
I recently did an upgrade to my 60gb HD on my PS3 and was only able to back up my saves because I didn't have an external HD. Went up to 320gb now, so no worries. It was a pain in the butt downloading Burnout Paradise's update (1 hour or 1hour 30 mins approx!)

Slider is an evil dude for sure. He's clever, and his instinct is to exploit the imbalances in the game.

I'm really making an effort to limit my TOW usage these days. Heck, I think a good third of my deaths are me just hovering and debating whether to nuke somebody. I probably had less than 5-6 TOWS all night.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

I used quite a few TOWs and even killed a few people with them, although most missed completely.

Kamikaze balls. I think it was you Flip, but during the Badlands map someone was carrying a flag and I suicide bombed them, and they had no idea what had happened. I'm going to start doing it more.

I did it to somebody last night too...two guys in a jeep carrying the flag. Rather than trying to be precise, I just plopped the Warhawk down in front of them and took a big dump.

frizby SUICIDE

Flip would have been proud.
