They help alot in battles, some followers basically throw themselves at you at certain points of the main quest line.

Re: The Fallout 3 Thread Of Exploding Teddy Bears

Ok I need some help with the main quest..

Spoiler:

I am trying to lead the scientists out of the tunnel, everything is fine until we reach a door where DR li wants to open and keep on running in. Problem is, there is a doorway with enclave soldiers that I have to kill, when I killed them all, all the scientists were gone. What happened? They went on without me WTF, and decided to get killed by ghouls. UGH

Here's what I did:

Spoiler:
I just told them to wait while I scouted ahead, then I took care of most of the Enclave soldiers. I think a few more appeared once Dr. Li and Co. was there, but they were easy to take care of. That way you don't have to take out seven or eight Enclave guys while trying to protect the whole group.

I didn't get them until late. I didn't really need them, and just got Charon and Dogmeat for fun.

Does it matter where you told them to wait? I told them to wait at right at the last door before the enclave encounter. I told them to wait..but once we got past that door, Dr Li, even though I told her to wait..she ran to open the door. So flippin annoying

Okay, well I picked up star cross paladin and now have 2 followers. They are basically terrorizing the enemies and we are destroying large groups of raiders and enclave folks with ease lol

:P

Yes, the game gets a little bit easier when you have followers. But it's a lot of fun.

After I complete a quest, I wish I could kill the 'essential' NPCs.

I usually tell them to wait way before any new doors, so I can clear the area first, and they don't wander off. I think once someone starts shooting at them, they start running...

Wiping out Paradise Falls was where I really fell in love with this game. One of the only times in any video game where I really felt like a bad ass.

Not sure why my follower's killed a running away slave (carter?).

It seems they will kill unarmed green npcs as well.

Re: The Fallout 3 Thread Of Exploding Teddy Bears

I was playing again, my second full-play through. I now have 48 of 50 achievements. Just need the last bobblehead (the one near the end) and to kill the other 3 Behemoths.

Something funny happened. I was about to hit level 14, and needed neutral karma to get an achievement. I had freed the kids from Paradise Falls, but hadn't talked to them again to complete the quest, so they followed me everywhere. The highlight was them being chased halfway across the map by a couple of Yao Gaui's. All I could think of was Rick Moranis running from the dog in Ghostbusters.

Re: The Fallout 3 Thread Of Exploding Teddy Bears

I beat this game recently and I was a little disappointed...

Spoiler:
My father died very unceremoniously. I thought he would've talked to my character right before he passed but he didn't. The last thing he said to me was how disappointed he was that I blew up Megaton. Oh well.

Onto the last part, I liked following the Iron Giant and all that. But then at the end having to sacrifice myself or not and then the ending... Blah. I played through it to see the different endings. They weren't all that different but I just thought there could've been more. Perhaps something showing actual screenshots of past missions would've been nice.

But there's a whole lot of good in the side missions. I'm playing as a girl in the game and I start the Nuka Cola Quest. Ronald, the Cola Girl's neighbor, offers me more caps for the Quantums, well my character told him "how about you get me some Nuka Cola Quantum and we'll have a threesome." Ronald says "Holy Shit! Are you serious?" and then he runs off to his doom. It was soo great.

Re: The Fallout 3 Thread Of Exploding Teddy Bears

I recently finished the game as a goody two-shoes, and went back to go evil and get the level mark achievements - I'm surprised how easy it is to go from very good to very evil. Murder a single town like Megaton and steal their loot and you're there.

I felt dirty killing unarmed innocents that were crouched in the corner. Good to know I'm not a sociopath.

And it's sooo much easier to get caps as a bad guy. shop owners are rich!

Yeah, that is why I feel this game is TOTALLY unrealistic.

How many hours have most put into this game? I am on my first playthrough and at 68 or so hours. I only have one side quest left that I can do as a good guy (I think) and am at what I think is the last main story quest before the end of the game.

And there are still unexplored locations on my map.

Is the expansion being released this month? My unplayed pile HATES this game.

Yeah one expansion this month (next week), which is the Anchorage Invasion DLC. In February we'll have the Pitt DLC, and I think March it's the Brotherhood of Steel DLC. That also includes a patch to raise the level cap to 30 and removes the ending in the game, meaning you can continue on after beating it instead of being sent to the title screen.

So I have a moral dilemma, for those of you that have gone to the oasis know what I am talking about.

Spoiler:
Do I end Harold's suffering and kill him? Or let him spread his green over the world. The sacrifice of one, for the good of many? Bleh. I hate moral dilemma's like this heh..but very cool question though

Which DLC removes the level cap and ending? This first one? Hopefully.

The last one, unfortunately.
