Re: The Fallout 3 Thread Of Exploding Teddy Bears
I tried and tried, but I just could NOT get into this game.
The concept and storyline seem very cool, but it was just too much of a time-commitment. The first few times I sat down hours went by and I didn't really enjoy it later on. I guess I prefer games like Gears of War, GTA, COD, etc., where I can just jump in, play a few missions, and jump out instead of games that require this level of total immersion. I just didn't care about carrying junk and selling it, "talking" to people, and all that. Personal preference...

This does not raise the level cap, the 3rd DLC (which seems to be the biggest and expands on the story) will raise it to 30.

As far as the simulator goes, it's cool that it's all new terrain. It's cold, snowy cliffs you travel on. It's very diffferent almost like a Call of Duty game. It seemed pretty easy at least the first part that I did. You get this pretty awesomely badass enery rifle that kills all the guys in one shot. I don't think there's anything like it in the game.
And that's all. I got 2 achievements so far.

So last night I was exploring the Old Olney sewers..and so far at this point, have pretty much quashed everything. My followers charon and star paladin cross decked out in power armor and plasma rifle/shotgun. Those Deathclaws are QUICK. the deathclaw quickly dispatched my 2 followers in less than 7 seconds.

The first part, getting there, is a bit of a trip. You gotta fight through a lot of super mutants to get to a brotherhood base. I had Fawkes with me and one of the Brotherhood turned on him and I, didn't seem to effect anything other than negative karma when I killed him. Fawkes couldn't go into the base with the simulator. You're on your own.

I saw a review from Euro Gamer that basically said it was half baked, and too easy. Said it took him 2 hours to finish and he didn't rush. I'm still getting it, though. I am a huge fan of the game and series, and more Fallout is always a good thing.

How do you get 2 followers? FWIW, I just finished Waters of Life or whatever it's called. I have Charon and Dogmeat, and Dogmeat just stays at my house in Megaton. Do I have to tell Dogmeat to get lost to have another human follower?

You have to kill dogmeat I think, if you have to have your follower 1st, then grab dogmeat. Then when you kill dogmeat..you get another companion slot.
and I know you can get multiple followers.

Re: The Fallout 3 Thread Of Exploding Teddy Bears
You can always have Dogmeat plus one.
Star Paladin Cross will join you when you first meet her if you have good karma, even if you already have another companion. However, I've seen some sources that say she won't join you if you have Charon or Fawkes as your companion.
Butch will join you no matter how many companions you have.
Assuming all that is true, it looks like it's possible to have 3 companions plus Dogmeat.

They will definitely be addressing it but I don't know how they will do it. Right now I'm playing from a save right before I visit the Citadel for the final part of the final mission. It'll be interesting to see how they handle it.

I traded F3 for Metal Gear Solid 4 and really miss Fallout3
Not a smart idea.

Re: The Fallout 3 Thread Of Exploding Teddy Bears
According to the info page - currently d/ling content - the gauss rifle is included here. Wondering how well it's incorporated here vs fallout 2. Is the zoom better/further than the sniper rifle in order to take advantage of super accuracy (95% chance of hit at 50 hexes in F2) - or what.
I guess I could load the quick save from Jefferson Memorial that was from immediately before I stepped into the rad chamber and use it - presumably with no issues?

Just finished DLC...Took about 3 hours, and I was in no hurry.
LOVED IT. Unlike the Fable 2 DLC, which was about as long, this did not feel like a waste of money. It plays a lot faster and more like a shooter then the original game. There were a couple of great moments, including an interesting Boss fight that took me by surprise and was actually better then any "boss" in Fallout 3. (though you could say there never was really a boss fight in Fallout 3 outside the Super Mutant Behemoths) It may be on the short side, but it makes up for it in the quality of the game. Does a good job of making you feel that you are in a simulator.
Once you download it, you need to load up any old save, and a radio signal with a distress call will come through. Follow that and you are in. for 10 bucks, a solid 8 out of 10.

Good to know. I have it all purchased and ready for download. I haven't downloaded the Fable II content yet, but that's only because I haven't played Fable II since November, and am not even 25% through the game
I think I'd buy the GTA IV DLC before the Fable II, but it will be bought eventually.

That's what I was thinking from the description. I prefer the "slower" pace of the base game to most regular "shooters", so I'm on the fence on this one.
