After looking at my Pipboy, coming back from the pause screen, jumping, holstering, etc., my weapon fires. I can't play this way.

So I load up my saved game. The glitch is still there. Do it again. Still there. And of course, I only have the one save. I've put about 12 hours into the game already. I don't want to start a new one, but it looks like I might have to. Blurgh.

EDIT: Whew! I quit the game and went back to the Xbox dashboard and then restarted it. That cleared the glitch. Man, I'm so glad I don't have to start over.
You're lucky, so consider it a lesson learned. Never go longer without a new save file than you're willing to replay. And don't delete the old ones.

Noted. After that scare I've been saving like mad (after almost every time I get XP) over several files.

It's funny that, for whatever reason, I rarely ever used VATS in New Vegas. Here, I've been using it constantly. The mercenaries are a pain, but when they spawn right next to me, it's really satisfying to take a breather, aim my combat shotgun at one of their heads, and see it get blown away in slow motion.

Last night I picked up Dogmeat. Cute little guy. I'm a ways from level 22 and the Puppies perk. If he should die before I get that far, will that perk even be offered to me?

Yes, you'll still be able to take the perk and get a new dog.

I think VATS were more "powerful" in FO3. I still used them a lot in FO:NV though.

If I remember correctly, in FO3 you only take 10% damage while in VATS. You can launch a nuclear bomb at your own feet and survive. I think in FO:NV damage is normal, as it should be.

Yep, played all the way through twice, and a platinum trophy on PS3.

I tried to get into New Vegas, but both times, I just lost interest.

You're one of the lucky ones. I downloaded and started it up last night. 20 minutes in and the game freezes on me. Activated compatibility mode and started up again. This time it only took five minutes to freeze again Run as administrator... Freeze again This time i went all out editing the .ini file and started up *crossed fingers* and it works! Played an hour without any problems.

I wish steam had guides on fixing problems with these games during the downloading process. Would be a lot easier than having to hunt around google looking for a fix...

Re: The Fallout 3 Thread Of Exploding Teddy Bears

With Fallout 4 around the corner I'm making it my goal to finish this game by the end of October. This'll be my fourth time starting. First bought it when it came out. Bought the GOTY for my second try and after failing to get my saves to work on Windows 10 I'm going back to the 360 GOTY.

Don't do it. You'll get burned out.

Trying to play FO3 and FO4 back to back is just too much.

... sees Fallout 3 looking infinitely sharper compared to the game running on Xbox One S.

bump
I've got a Fallout 3 code (for Xbox 360, but it's backwards compatible on Xbox One) I don't need. I figure everyone here has it, but if you don't...

(quote to see the code embedded in tags below my post)
edit: (gone?)

I've confirmed that it's still valid, so just post here after you've redeemed it.

I will take it. I copied the code for my son but won't be able to redeem it until later. Hope it is still valid.

Thanks!!

Re: The Fallout 3 Thread Of Exploding Teddy Bears

Just a heads up, you could always redeem it with the phone app if you need to. Should be easy enough to just copy and paste.
