That was mine too - but it took a while to decide - all 3 of them had interesting factors (except for the old man's idea). What was the perk for being bad?

I burned Harold's ass down. His screams still haunt me. I got the Achievement but nothing else. I went back to an earlier save so I could actually complete the mission the right way.

Spoiler:

Being bad means setting Harold on fire, I don't think you get anything for that, besides negative karma. And you get no experience.

If you destroy the heart by shooting him (what Harold wants), his blood splatters on you and you get the barkskin perk, which gives you +5% damage resistance. (the guide says you also get an endurance gain, but this is false)

If you help Harold grow (do what Laurel wants), you get a special hood (+10 sneak, +1 AG) and special outcast power armor (+5 big guns)

If you stop Harold's growth (do what Birch wants), you get a missile launcher and a special suit which gives +1 Perception and +1 AG

Also, having not played any other Fallout games before, I totally missed the connection between this quest and the other games...

Spoiler:
Yeah Harold plays a pretty big role across all three major fall out games, and is the only other character besides dogmeat that appears in all 3 games. Although in fallout canon, Dogmeat dies in the first game

I finished the game today... sort of. Didn't realize I was at the end, although I guess I should have known
Spoiler:
following Liberty Prime. That was a pretty bad ass sequence although you don't do much. I didn't know the code at the end so it just blew up.
. I was only level 17, so going back to find some other quests and get some more achievements since it looks like there's a bunch of quest achievements that I didn't do.

It's the number on the passage in your room at the beginning...the one left by your mother, I believe.

Re: The Fallout 3 Thread Of Exploding Teddy Bears

Well, I finished the game yesterday as a good character.

After that I went back to a previous save and completed the "Strictly Business" and "You Gotta Shoot 'Em In the Head" quests for achievements. Those just seemed too evil to do in my "real" game.

I ended up mainly using the Chinese Assault Rifle and Combat Shotgun primarily. Never used a mininuke until I was doing the two quick saves above. Those were cool, should have tried them earlier.

I also cleared the cache everytime I loaded the game (L/R Shoulder + X while loading and never had a problem with freeze-ups after that.

Really glad I grabbed this game. After getting bored and never finishing Morrwind or Oblivion I didn't think this game would be for me. Guess I just prefer guns over swords as this game never got boring.

As for the rest of the achievements:
Spoiler:
Does anyone know a any areas that I can get a bunch of speech challenges? I am at 41 and I think I need 50. I guess I simply never found enough.

I also only hacked 13 terminals but don't think there is any way I'll want to get 50.

I also only found 5 bobbleheads. Did most need a guide for this? I searched most every place I went and maybe I just overlooked a bunch. Are they normally just on a desk?

You can do Gotta Shoot 'Em in the Head without killing anyone. You've got to have high speech points. And I guess that helps with your other question. After you agree to do Gotta Shoot 'Em in the Head you can talk to the other important Underworld people and ask them about Crowley. You can get about 5 or 6 speech successes that way.

As for the bobbleheads, yes you probably need a guide. The majority of bobbleheads aren't in places associated with main quests or side quests.

That's pretty cool. Although I guess that means there's only 1 main quest and not any side quests? Oh well.

I'm down to the last bobblehead in Raven Rock. I think I'll get it, do the DLC, and then put this on the shelf until the next two packs come out. Then I'll probably start a new melee only character that is evil as hell.

Don't remember the quest, but you can get a lot of speech challenges at the hotel - telling folks to move out.

For the final code -
Spoiler:
Scroll through your messages. If you picked up all your father's logs from the project when you explored the Jefferson memorial the first time, it should be in there. Of course it helps if you remember that there are 66 books in the Bible.

Ok so im having a bit of trouble. I escorted Dr. Li into the tunnel but somehow I got out without her coming along. Am I stuck? It doesn't seem like I can get into the manhole at the Jefferson Museum without Dr. Li's key. Is there another entrance?

Did you check to make sure she is not dead?

So I printed off a list of Bobblehead locations and decided to devote a few hours to collecting them all from a previous save in my game to get the achievement. Then I notice that there is one in Ravens Rock. Then I notice all my saves are from after Ravens Rock. Fuck.

yea, no fucking way you could find all those bobbleheads on your own. Luckily I looked thru the guide about halfway thru so i got the raven rock one before it blew up.

Re: The Fallout 3 Thread Of Exploding Teddy Bears

I decided shortly after I started I was going to use a guide to get most of the bobbleheads, then do the main quest...well, I ended up getting side-tracked so damn often that I was level 18 and about 70 hours in before I started the main quests.

I'm pretty sure she's alive because I still have the quest to escort her. I can't get to her though cause she's in that tunnel with the only key.

Re: The Fallout 3 Thread Of Exploding Teddy Bears

I'm just glad there's no achievement for getting all of those books. there are just so many useless books around that you kinda give up looking if you don't need the money or experience...
