Presumed Innocent - A paint-by-the-numbers courtroom drama that is elevated by Raul Julia's wonderful perfomance. Doesn't look much better than an up-converted DVD but I'm sure its the best the film will ever look.

The Hurt Locker
First time watching the film. Intense
A/V quality was solid.

We Own the Night. Enjoyed it, though I felt Joaquin Phoenix's character was a little too emotional. Seems like he was collapsing into a tear-streaked heap in every other scene, but he managed to make it work. Good story.

Gomorrah - I wasn't sure what to expect going into this one. It was similar in style to City of God, but I think that they tried to juggle too many characters here. I'm sure it's a film that requires repeat viewings, but I wasn't intially blown away by it like I anticipated. PQ was solid, AQ was unremarkable but good.
Unrivaled - Sweet Jesus, was this bad! I'm a mild fan of MMA, but this was just pathetic on every conceivable level. There's a reason these guys fight, not act, for a living. PQ was surprisingly solid, though, and the AQ was good.

Getting close to finishing Dexter: Season 1... it's been such an awesome show so far. I can't believe I missed it all these years. It's been fun watching it now though.

Anyway, we rented The Wrestler from Netflix and watched it last night. Mickey Rourke was great, and I thought Marisa Tomei was pretty good, too, but it struck me as Sin City Lite. Their performances just weren't enough to offset what I found an underwhelming and predictable plot. I dug the Springsteen video, but I'd dock the Blu-ray at least half a star for the video not being anamorphic!

Did You Hear About The Morgans? Nice PQ with some wonderful scenery. It was predictable but enjoyable enough for a good rental. Probably wouldn't own it but it's worth a spin.

Layer Cake. Fun film... reminded me a bit of another Vaughn (produced) picture, Snatch. It was amusing to see 007's Daniel Craig, so suave and self-confident in the Bond films, play an unsteady, impulsive drug-dealing middle-man who thinks he has it all together, but doesn't.
