The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

I'm actually surprised the Grip-Its are still in stock at Amazon. Only 10 left though. Those suckers were sold out for weeks at a time.

Looks like these "Grip-Its" are convex - that kills it for me - I need grips that are concave, just like how the controller already comes.

The Grip-Its are actually kind of flat with a tactile, slightly elevated rubberized surface. Really feel pretty comfortable. For $5, try them out. I think they're pretty great and very comfortable

They aren't convex at all. At worst, they are flat and a little bit "soft" in the middle.
They really feel quite good, and they even make the stick surface a little bit bigger, which is welcome.

Have them on both controllers and probably the best $5.00 spent on any gaming gear period

I can't believe how easy it was to replace the actual HDD of the PS4. Thanks to chase and Buzz for the HDD recommendation as I went with that Seagate Hybrid HDD. Installing the OS was pain free and since there wasn't anything, it was extremely quick. Even with roughly 932GB of memory, the OS takes approximately 90GB and I'm left with 832GB before installing any games. I think I made the right decision in replacing the HDD right away.
Looking at the XMB of the PS4 will take some time getting used to. I know I don't hate it but I'm not sure if I love it too. I know you guys spent the last 3 pages talking about the controller, so all I'm going to say is that I think that they are much better than the PS3.
Unfortunately, I'm going to be at my parents until Sunday so I won't be able to play any games until Monday at the earliest. I have Watchdogs, Infamous SS, TLOU and the free PS+ games waiting for me. With Diablo coming, I think I made the right decision in getting the system now.

Congrats on the HD swap...and yea pretty much painless and getting that extra space gives you more room to breath. For me it was a Double Bonus...replaced the PS4 HD with a better and bigger one and I'm using that 500 Gb drive in our Pc when I'll update Vista to Windows 7 using it for programs.
Coming from the 360 I was a bit worried about the controller but honestly I actually like it over the 360 one. The grips feel more natural and the overall size is not that much different. I added the GripIts and it feels great.
You've got a good list of games....and I enjoyed Infamous and now playing The Last of Us with some Warframe in between. With Diablo III in less than two weeks and Destiny a month away it'll be even busier and better. The only game I'm playing right now on the 360 is Diablo and after the 19th the 360 might not get used for awhile. The more I play on the PS4 the harder it is to go backwards. I made the choice to switch...from 360 to PS4...and have never looked back. Don't think you will either...

Once you get acclimated, you'll be sending screenshots and popping in and out of party chats in seconds, and it will be really really hard to go back to PS3 for anything.

Word to the wise : be sure to keep that 500 GB drive that it came with. If you ever had a warranty issue or if it should fail sometime in the future, they will want you to return the system with the original hard drive put back in. When my launch PS3 failed like a year ago, I was damn lucky to find that old 60 GB drive in a desk drawer. Once that was put back in, they were able to upgrade me to a Slim refurbished unit for $100.

Thanks guys! I'm part of the club now
We both think alike Decker. I'm doing just that. I was tempted to put it in my PS3 but in case anything happens to my PS4, I'm going to store it away for safe keeping.
In regards to screenshots and party chats, you need to educate me on that. I know you can link to your FB account but I have no desire on doing that.

I like the UI too. The one thing I want is the ability to put games in folders, so I don't have so much to scroll through.
And I really want the suspend/resume feature.

^ basically, you turn your console on, and you can start your last-played game immediately. No loading screens. It's just paused and waiting for you.

...including exactly where you left off, so it's like having a saved game without waiting for a save point.

I think I'd rather they didn't do suspend/resume at all and just released whatever RAM that's set aside for it to devs for better graphics and AI. The PS4 boots in seconds, and games load pretty quickly too.
I don't even use standby mode, because the time difference from a cold boot is marginal, and I'd rather not waste the power.
Agree with XavierMike about folders, or an even simpler solution would be to limit that bar to the last 10 apps used and push everything else to the library. But otherwise, the UI is kind of amazing.

When I grabbed a bunch of freebies from that Playstation Now Beta, that bar stretched for miles!
I was more than happy to delete all those after the rental period expired.

So basically it is a Pause button but instead of leaving the console on, you can turn it off?
Does the console have to be left in StandBy mode or can you power it down completely?

Stand By is also so you can control it remotely, have it download demos/games/updates/patches.
Yes, you can power it down completely.

Well...I just added another game to the 2015 list. I loved the Left 4 Dead games playing on the 360 with 4ply coop...just a blast to play. Now This Looks Like Fun....

Sony seemed to promote this as a big feature for PS4, yet it's still MIA. The time is NOW!

Not sure if this is the same thing you guys are talking about; 1.Sync your Smartphone with PS4. 2.Turn on system and boot up game via Phone before coming home. 3.Get home, turn TV on and game is ready to go. How cool would that be?!
