Well it would save you like 30 seconds, I suppose. Though once you park your car in the garage, you can do that anyway using your Playstation App on your phone. You can remotely turn the unit on and off, but you have to be on the same wifi network.
(This is assuming you can power the unit on from standby mode remotely using the Playstation app -- I've never actually tried that).

You can already download a new digital game remotely from standby position. The new PS Plus games are always ready to go by the time I get home on Tuesday afternoon.

Well, i tried it out and sure enough you can turn on the PS4 from a standby position using your Playstation app in your garage (though it just tells you to press the PS button on your controller). Still, that's close enough -- mhg83, your wish has been granted! Hope you're as happy as I was when they finally enabled Auto-Sign in on the Xbox One.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

From standby to functional UI is about 5 seconds, and a cold boot is under 30. For me, that's hardly enough time to get myself situated and headphoned up, so it's kind of hard to see the point of any of it.

Really, suspend/resume would only be useful for single player games, which don't take up nearly as much of my gaming time as they used to, and I also have a feeling it would be a nuisance if you didn't happen to want to play the game you were last playing. I would think you'd have to close that app before starting another.

Suspend/resume sounds cool on paper, but I'm not sure it fits the way I game anymore. I boot up, sort out my headphones, glasses and drink (or whatever) while it's booting, look to see who's online, look to see who's in party chat, and only then do I decide what I'm going to play.

its great on the Vita, but I think thats a system more likely to be picked up and put down and interrupted playing. with the ps4 you're usually sitting down to a long session and dont mind waiting out until you get a save-point. but with the Vita I could be in the middle of a Persona 4 dungeon, and want to put it down, and not pick up again for 3 days, and boom, right where I left off.

Even with faster hard drives loading times in games are absurd. 1+ minute most of the time.

It's not something critic, that's why it's not there yet, but it's a big plus.

The X1 has something like that. It saves your last game state, so if you want to play a 10 minutes round of COD or something like that, you don't waste 2-3 minutes turning on your console, and then loading your game. But yeah, it can only save one game, the last you played.

Again, it's not a critic feature, but it's the future, I think.

Absolutely. There's no reason to sit through startup screens I've seen two dozen times. I don't care what engine was used, I barely care what company made the game, I don't need to see them every time. I want to say Crysis 3 had 5 or 6 company screens before getting to the menu. It's absurd. Then loading a save game takes even more time. Do you sit through commercials when you record something on your DVR? It's a perfect time to go get a snack, hit the restroom or text your buddies. That's only 1-2 minutes at a time. It's all just a colossal waste of time when the technology is there to allow me to skip it.

It's like sitting through the FBI warning on movies I bought. I, uh, bought the movie therefore I'm not pirating it. Game companies already got my money I don't care that it's on BabyEngine 3.5 or FishBoneX 6. or It's a waste of time. A small amount of time, yes, but still a waste.

It's funny that Sony touted this feature long before MS and they were beaten to the punch. It was one of the features I was most looking forward to on PS4.

I want the loading times improved and the virtual control feature as well. A friend came over and I wanted to show him The Show on the PS4 and he damn near fell asleep standing up while waiting for it to load. I told him it would be just a minute for the game to start at least 3 times. Made me a damn liar.

The article that was linked was updated long ago, after chess posts, saying that it was fake. But again, conspiracy theorists say that maybe Sony doesn't want you to believe.

Yeah, having Killzone in a "favorite games" folder was a dead giveaway.

The funny thing is that whoever put this together made a video of how invites would work. Seems like a lot of trouble for a few hits, but I guess people have too much time on their hands.

does the wireless transmitter for the Gold Headset have a mini-headphone jack? So it can be used for other audio sources.

It doesn't. The Pulse Elite does though.

balls. my pulse elite just broke the other night. i held it by the earphone putting it away, and the whole plastic just snapped, including one wire. pretty pissed. Was going to get the Gold, but I use it alot with my TV also, and need the ability to input another device (wirelessly).

Yeah, that's something I use on occasions as well. Don't think there's any way around that. I like both headsets and love how the Gold folds up, its longer battery life and I like how it has a smaller, less noticeable dongle, but the smaller dongle doesn't have that input. Guess you should pick up another Elite instead.

BTW : Hotline Miami comes to the PS4 on 8/19 and includes special DS4 controlls : "use DualShock 4′s touch pad to look around and lock on enemies, and actually shake the controller itself to perform execution moves when you have an enemy pinned on the ground. And to take the violence to the next level, the sounds of those same execution moves are amplified through the speaker on the DualShock 4 itself".
It's Cross-Buy , so if you bought it on the Vita or PS3 (or picked it up as a PS Plus Freebie when it was offered), you get another free game this month.

Hotline Miami was a fun game, love the vibe and soundtrack. Like an 16-bit Drive knock off.

Well I think I'm done with Fez. It's like Shadow of the Colossus for me....critically lauded and I know tons of people who love it....but I was bored out of my mind.

Hell yes. I started playing this again once I got my Vita and I forgot how great it is (and the soundtrack with the Gold headset is awesome).
