Re: The Simpsons: Tapped Out
Lisa is the most inflexible "free" character, for sure. You can see which tasks are greyed out for her, but of course you don't know when those are coming along (though you might be able to check which are for premium buildings by checking against what is already available for donut purchase--maybe, since I haven't actually researched this). I have freed up some longer task(s) for her, thankfully.
I said yesterday how I had blown four days' worth of ticket-gathering on Sunday. My quest finished then I didn't have enough tickets to build the next building. I had to do several hours' worth of 30-minute tasks and neighbor visits to build it up again.

What has been nice about the focus on KL, is that there haven't been any new buildings that need to be built in my Springfield. The only things I'm spending money on, currently, are Boardwalk tiles (currently at 10,000 and 2 days to build), Planting at the Cletus Farm, Broadcasting a Channel 6, scratch off ticket at Kwik-E-Mart, and race track. The remainder of characters that are in Springfield are just netting me money that I'll have to spend on new buildings, when they become available.

And I'm doing the same thing as you -- building up my war chest in Springfield, spending tickets in Krustyland (currently working on Wet & Smokey for the next 1d8h)

No.. I skipped on Calmwood as I didn't have enough when it first released. I have about 570k saved up now.. so that would wipe out most of what I have. Though, if it follows previous releases, the price should drop once they release the next new content. I'll keep an eye on it and when it (hopefully) drops in price, I'll pick it up.

Re: The Simpsons: Tapped Out
I've been having network problems last night and this morning. Right now I can't get on and all my Springfield characters are just wandering around because I didn't have time to assign them after I freed them all up.
[QUOTE=Canis Firebrand;11797137]For the last two buildings, I had to wait to build up some tickets. I check in a few times a day, especially with Lisa only having a 60 min task available to me. The best thing I've seen that I can do is to just keep sending characters that can visit KL on tasks. I try to match up with buildings, ie if I have a building that's going to take 24 hours, I'll put them on 3 8 hour tasks, or 2 12 hour tasks so that they are free when the building completes to progress to the next quest. For a simple game, there is a bit of planning that needs to be done to keep on top of things.
Before KL and after Squidport when there was nothing to build, my general routine was to send everyone on eight-hour tasks. The beginnings of KL with its 30-minute tasks were kind of a flashback to the early days of building Springfield, but now that I'm getting more options I'm somewhat timing my tasks to the buildings/quests, though as you say it's harder to get matches with the limited options available.
True, there's very little to do in Springfield other than those tasks. I try to time those tasks to KL as well, though, just in case a character frees up to go to KL. I'm still building Squidport tiles but not really planning on spending donuts to build that up. What I've missed is the lack of new characters since Rod and Todd so I've been eyeing what premium buildings/characters I might want to spend my not-quite-big-enough stack of donuts on, and Otto did catch my eye because I'd seen him in KL. Too bad he's so limited in his tasks, though I guess he does get his 50% premium bonus (e.g., my Kearney earns 18 tickets per half-hour instead of 12).
Sometimes I think I should just buy a bunch of good multipliers instead, though at this point I'd want the ones in KL.

Re: The Simpsons: Tapped Out
The premium buildings that give new characters are tempting, but I hate spending real money on a game. If it wouldn't be terribly much, I'd do it. But pricing it out, for what I want, is looking pricey. And I'm bummed that I missed out on some time limited premium stuff (characters and buildings).
These are what I'd get if I could:
Frink's Lab (150)
Volcano Lair (200)
Duff Brewery (190)
School Bus (120)
Krustylu Studios (140)
Lugash's Gym (175)
Community center (150)
Film Set (120)
Kamp Krusty (200)
Hans Moleman (60)
Kearney (60)
Bumblebee Man (60)
Dr. Nick (90)
The Rich Texan (85)
That's 1800 donuts= $100 USD. Even during the sales, I think donuts were at most 33% off? That'd still be roughly $66. I could probably skip the Film Set and Kamp Krusty, since they are just skins for an existing character, but that would drop it down to 1480 donuts which would still be over $50.

Re: The Simpsons: Tapped Out
Some of my characters only have 30-minute and eight-hour tasks, which is kind of annoying.
I would enjoy having all those premium items but like you have a psychological barrier against spending that much. Anything north of 150 doesn't seem like a good spend for me. Right now I'm at 98 and close to leveling up for three more. That and a fresh iTunes card can get me something, but I'm not sure what.
The only reason I have Kearney is that I bought him by accident.
The fact that he got into KL somewhat early does soften the blow.

If you want premium stuff: Wait for 20% off of iTunes cards, there's at least one a month. And if you are really patient wait for the donuts discount, in the game, for 33% off or so.
Just do the math and you can save some money.

Yeah, pairing those deals would be the way to go. The bulk of my points are left over from the one Gil deal I bought, some of which I used for multipliers.

Re: The Simpsons: Tapped Out
Just like with Xbox Points in the past, don't be greedy, if a deal looks too good to be true, there's a reason. So in ebay, or any unknown site, be careful if you see a $100 card for $50 or something like that.

There might be some more Gil discounts on buildings, too.

*sigh* Those beautiful iTunes card deals don't help we Android players, as far as I can tell.

My wife has an iTouch. Would it work that way? I would think the best way to do it is buy a discounted iTunes card and then wait for a sale from Gil, correct?

If you want to maximize your savings then yes.
BTW, yesterday I notice that I had 5, FIVE!!!, Laffy Meals in my Inventory. I wonder if they were because of the KL screw up. Didn't receive any message about them.
3 of them were tickets (1K+), one the whack-a-mole game, and one mascot. I would have preferred something bigger, but being free, it's all good.

Re: The Simpsons: Tapped Out
I read in another forum that some people were receiving donuts. 500 is a lot! I would have preferred 500 donuts than 5 Laffy Meals, specially after the prizes I received.
