Re: Bungie - Destiny

Played a great deal last night with Chess and one more. It plays a lot like the Alpha but with two small differences....enemies are a slight tougher and drops & loot are a tad less. I probably opened up 7-8 chests and got all credits. After Chess left another friend came on and we decided to try the "hard" setting...big difference. We were following the early parts of the story and getting enemies double our level...it was brutal. I did like the way they more or less introduce you to the game at the beginning. Save hat for the XO crowd. Still looks amazing...

Downloaded and installed the beta last night. I'm looking forward to diving into it tonight. I've purposefully avoided watching videos or reading too much about it.

Yeah, 4 hrs or so sounds about right. I'm going to play a little bit tonight with a couple friends and that's it. The game is out in another 6 weeks or so, so I don't mind waiting for the final product.

Re: Bungie - Destiny

So there seems to be very little difference between the Alpha and the Beta.

They did some work on the voiceover, making it sound more like an AI, and they added some story bits, but there's not really much new in the way of playable content.

I'll be back on tonight...FWIW Chess I started the Hunter after you left but ready to do some free roam with whatever. I'll comment more after playing more and hitting all the places and even running all three characters.

I think I might roll another hunter too. There's something about the combo of fragile and sluggish on the Warlock just puts me off.

Beta is amazing for someone who has not played Alpha...but coming from the alpha it is just more of the same..

Loved how much the auto tune added to the voice quality of Dinklage..you can even hear how they pulled emotion out of the same lines.

Teasing us with the moon..I hope that opens up before the beta is over.

My connection is pretty snappy (just did a speed test to verify!), but the in-game download is friggin' glacial. 50 megs in the past 15 minutes. I don't know if it'll be done before the beta's over! I download stuff from PSN all the time, and it's never been like this.

Edit - derp, it's fine now. Just needed to restart my router.

My PSN download went really fast last night but the install from in-game was pretty slow.

I did like the music/score that was playing though
didn't stop me from having to have it run overnight to complete the download

will get my first go at the beta after work later today

Re: Bungie - Destiny

I was expecting it to be a slow download when I got home from work yesterday, but I was up and running in a little less than an hour.

Re: Bungie - Destiny

Took me about an hour at 11:30 PM last night to download it. I made my way to the tower, and liked that little bit a lot. However, once I was at the tower I was presented with all of these symbols and items and other things and I had no clue what the hell anything was. What does your emblem do? Where do you find out about this stuff? I hope the full game does a better job of explaining it. And I hope I don't have to read the entire grimoire to glean that information.

I'm playing as an Awoke (or Awakened? can't remember) Hunter and I'm loving it.

The emblem is just something that goes on your little title card when you're playing online. Like when you see who else you're playing with. Those symbols there are the emblems.

I'm a little disappointed that the Beta doesn't offer much more than the Alpha did. The Venus map in the crucible and the cutscenes is about all that's new here. I was hoping to rank past 8 this time to try out some of the other powers. Hell, they gave me a Level 10 gun I can't even use.

Re: Bungie - Destiny

I saw something tonight that I never saw in the Alpha...a large battle between the Fallen and Hive. I'm talking close to 40 AI at once. I'm talking a couple of "Eyeballs", a few Wizards, Heavy Troopers the works. It was in the area where the Green Hive Ship crashed. It was something to watch....

Started the Hunter and got him to Level 8. Still need one more on the Warlock and finish out the Earth missions. I did all three in the Alpha and probably do it again here. I like all three and in a group it's wise to make sure to vary....right Chess. Like don't have three Warlocks doing the Devils Lair. Need to spend time with all the vendors and soak in what they offer and how it plays into your character

Re: Bungie - Destiny

I played this a little bit tonight and enjoyed it quite a bit. Played with a hunter and leveled him up a few times. The thing that I really liked was most first person games give me a headache after about 20 minutes, this was smooth enough where it didn't bother me at all, I'll most likely pick this up.

Re: Bungie - Destiny

Played for about 4 hrs tonight with some friends and got up to level 7. Yeah, not much different than the alpha, but doesn't really matter since it's still a lot of fun. I'm done until the game comes out. Can't wait.

The only downside of the evening was some connection hiccups. We got separated 4 or 5 times for people getting randomly booted. I guess it's something to look forward to on launch

Re: Bungie - Destiny

finally got to play the beta tonight

maxed out at level 8

very little different from the alpha but that isn't bad

have only played as Warlock class in both the alpha and now beta ... I guess maybe I should try another class

got to play online for the first time since I wasn't Plus active when the alpha was out .... it ran butterly smooth even with my crappy internet connection which is something I can't say for other online games (Blacklight)

Re: Bungie - Destiny

Where do I go to get to level 8? I finished the story missions. Tried pvp. I'm at 6 almost 7. Do I have to join a group and do the strike? Or grind it out in that explore mission on Earth?
Thanks
