Well, this was the catalyst for me pre-ordering the PS4. I ordered the PS4/Destiny bundle.

comparing the ps3 vs the ps4 version.

The Ps3 version actually loads faster. WAY faster.

The ps3 version looks horrible. Washed out, blurry, and seems like some textures are missing. It does not look as good as other open worlds games of recent years like GTA5. This is a beta, but I think the game was obviously designed for next gen, and pushed onto the ps3/xbox.

Other than that is plays and runs about the same. I was actually shocked when I started playing because I had seen some pictures and even a video of the ps3 version, and they made the game look ok. On my screen it was not ok.

This is not a surprise considering this is Bungie's first foray into PS3 gaming and most likely their last. For a company who has primarily built games for the PC/x86 architecture (Halo & Halo 2) and the 360 (Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, and Halo Reach), I am not surprised in any bit the PS3 version sucks.

The PS4 and Xbox One versions will run the best, followed by the 360, followed by PS3.

I'm pretty sure the 360 version will suck just as much. It's not a matter of coding, it's a matter of power.

However, Bungie is well versed in utilizing the 360 for every inch of its power (Halo: Reach) whereas they didn't start hiring PS3 developers until a few years ago.

As it was proven with Titanfall, you can make a solid next-gen to last-gen port as long as you have the right resources and tools. It'd be great if Bungie wouldn't even develop for 360 and PS3, but well, Activision.

Weird how Assassin's Creed: Unity, The Crew, and Evolve are the only three AAA multi-platform games to come out in the fall that are next-gen only. Even weirder is how I played The Crew on a 360 a year ago.

Thanks for jumping in last night Chess and seeing "Zee Reaper!!" back....haven't played with him since almost Warframe? Leveled up quite a bit of stuff and got the better bike thanks to you. I've got to get one for my Hunter and I remember the chest on the coast but cannot remember the one where we went up and it was on some desk on the back wall? By the way 2 minutes after you and "Zee Reaper!!" left a Spiderbot dropped. I was in my menu ready to log out and then the sky got dark....

I wouldn't mind starting the Titan out and if you haven't started another and want to do the story part let me know...or if anyone lese does send an invite or jump in.

I remembered that I had a PS3 yesterday, and decided to try the Beta.

Yep, the game is really great. Yes, it feels so much like Halo, with a good mix of Borderlands. One of my two favorite games last generation, so yeah. After getting severely disappointed with Titanfall's beta, and skipping the full game, I didn't have high hopes. I know that every body here loves Destiny, but it was almost the same with TF.

Man I love Bungie, if it wasn't because I barely have time to play anymore, I would get the PS4 bundle. But I would be a disservice for that console. I may change my mind of course

So, are there any major changes from the alpha to the beta?

no..the basics are there..the only difference is there are 3 or 4 more story missions that take place on the same map as the open world.

Looks prettier to me but maybe that's just my mind playing tricks. Also Guilty Ghost Spark has had a pretty big overhaul on the voice. Robot Tyrion sounds a lot cooler now and less, um in your face? Leveling, the tower, etc. all seems pretty much the same.

Last night they had a special event in The Crucible. It was still Capture, but they debuted a new map for it: Mars. In fact, the event went through all four MP maps: Moon, Earth, Venus and Mars. I like the Earth and Venus maps the most, Moon is OK.

well after saying how silky smooth the online connection was last night I tried to play 4 games tonight and 3 were disconnected (error message centipede and bee for 2 of them)

played a lot yesterday and for the most part went smooth except for two cases being kicked out of the Fire Team. Pretty much taken both the Warlock and Hunter as far as they can go. Starting to get Level 9-12 Rare Items I cannot even use but I am Leveling up lots of parts of the character themselves. There's a bit more thinking and planning out than most really look at in terms of the parts of your outfit and weapon related...if you want to be faster, more tanky, quicker cool downs with abilities or grenades, carry more ammo for certain guns, faster reloads. With the Beta we've really only scratched a small portion of the game.

I'm looking at Weapons I'm using with 40-65 Damage and then you go over to a Weapons Master Vendor and see stuff with 348 or so Damage Level 20...you start asking for what? And what about all the stuff in between Level 8 and 20?

Well, as you rank up, so will the enemies. In the Borderlands games, you have to constantly upgrade your guns as soon as you can. There's a few exceptions where lower level guns are worth keeping there (I had a kickass gun that killed pretty much 10-15 levels above its rated level). You get more hit points, and so do all the enemies.

In the alpha, you could go into an area with level 20 enemies, haven't tried going there in the beta yet. But basically as a level 8, you stand no chance against a 20. It's a way to keep you out of areas you shouldn't be exploring yet.

Nope, as you go past the hive, there is a huge area where the enemys are immune to your weapons. And there are a couple of caves where some Hallowed Knights that are immune as well

there's a couple of these guys around with ??? hit points. killed me with one swipe.
