I suggest attempt hard mode again later tonight to try out all theories

I had mentioned earlier in the hard raid last night that the harpies did seem to be glitching a bit .... don't know if that was still happening during the templar area

I think there's going to be more "work" involved than some realize. Before we had to just concentrate on four materials...Iron, Spinmetal, Helium and Bloom along with Shards & Energy with most not worrying about Glimmer.

But now along with the list above we have to add....

Black Wax Idol, Embalming Orb, Runed Core, Radiant Energy, Radiant Shard, a need for more Glimmer, more engrams to break down and materials along with added bounties from Eris so to gain access to materials she has. So you need the Normal bounties, Eris bounties, Eris Quests and then still do the Daily, Weekly and Nightfall and maybe a Raid....and if like me with three characters that's a lot, lot playing

I may be able to do that around 1030 CT.

getting to 31 for a newbie to the game isn't as easy as it may seem
I was able to get my main to 31 yesterday with all new leveled up Crota gear but I also held a wealth of mats previously acumulated over 3 characters

Runed Core and Embalming Orbs are only used on one weapon each. so you only need to buy them once per character. And yeah, you use black wax idols to buy them. Eris's quests are basically a one time only thing I believe. Once you do them, that's it.

We know that the materials and currency types are overblown here. But as odd as this may sound, it's streamlined a bit now.

New Raid gear needs the radiant material from the new raid. They go hand in hand.
Exotic gear needs the exotic shard from Xur or breaking down exotics.
The rest used Ascendant materials.

I'd prefer a simpler system for materials and money of course.

Yeah, I can't imagine sorting through this shit as a new player.

also not sure if it is known or not but you may get a random Exotic bounty from Eris ... I did last night

same Exotic bounties as previously offered by Xander 99-40 (yes I had to look that up)

not sure if the exotic weapon you get with the Eris bounty is the higher leveled one or if you still need to turn this one in to Xur for the upgrade version ... that would be stupid so it is probably the later

Should be. I completed the Super Good Advice bounty last week but held onto it until after the DLC dropped, and I did get the higher leveled version when I redeemed it on Tuesday.

Agreed. They could do a Level 32 VoG that dropped (I) weapons and armor. There should also be some way to upgrade that Raid armor similar to how Exotics get upgraded.

Been holding on to two bounties for this exact reason.

Here's a brief tutorial.

1. Press R2 when you see Harpies, once for every Harpie
2. Avoid getting shot by Templar
3. Jump/R2 to break containment
4. Occasionally punch back left Oracle
5. Take down Templar's shield
6. Try not to fall asleep from how easy this is

Does Bungie have some kind of help or FAQ sheet online? Because even a strategy guide wouldn't help at this point with all the damn updated materials.

weekly update from Bungie is chock full o nothing in case you were wondering

New Strike boss cheese confirmed: When you first go into the room with the Boss Wizard, run under the platform where she is floating (heading left as you enter the room). There's a small cubbyhole on the “second floor” of that room. There's only one area for cover: a group of black crystals off to the side. If you position yourself just right, you can revive the other person without moving. You're safe from damage there. Take turns shooting/reviving, and you can take her down pretty quickly.

Did this on the regular Weekly Heroic. I tried the Nightfall and basically ruined it for everyone so I will need to try it again.

I'm avoiding all Raid stuff. Would like to go into it blind at least once.
