Re: Bungie - Destiny
I think I am getting pretty close to being done with this game, in the sense of spending hours farming for shit that quickly becomes irrelevant or outdated.
Not ready to quit cold turkey, because I do enjoy hanging out with you guys doing raids and some of the daily, weekly, nightfall strikes. But doubt I am going to be on everyday running the daily with all three characters, the public event with all three characters or spending hours doing bounties.

Been meaning to ask you, why do you have two chars who are both warlocks? So you can be more efficient in leveling gear (only leveling one class's set of gear vs two)? Then, you pass gear to the other warlock and double dip on the NFs and raids.

I noticed one of the perks on that machin gun is "shoots through Hive Knight's wall of darkness"... does that mean it shoots through that shield they constantly hide behind? If so, that might be the most badass machine gun in the game. Definitely a game changer on high level Hive missions (ie the summoning pits nightfall)

Went to Xur and did....
1st....upgraded my one Ice breaker
2nd...Upgraded my Last Word Hand Cannon....I really like this one
3rd....Bought the Voidfang Vest for the Warlock and broke down the existing one
4th....Bought the Achlyophage Symbiote for the Hunter and broke down existing
5th....rolled the Engram Helmet Dice and got Knucklehead Radar for Hunter and Helm of Saint for Titan
Since I had both Helmets already I broke those down also saving me Coins. I think I'll hold off doing anymore Helmet Engrams right now though I like to get one for the Warlock. But I got a Commendation for both the Hunter and Warlock and used one to buy the Warlock a Helmet. I'm just trying to get the least of amount of new gear on all three characters without being overwhelmed. Like everyone else it's bounties, glimmer, materials and farming now. Heck...just doing the Nightfall and Weekly back-to-back takes time.

Re: Bungie - Destiny
Need a plan for Xur. I have these exotics:
Warlock = Light Beyond Nemesis, Voidfang Vest
Titan = Armamentarium
Weapons = Suros (I upgraded this), Thunderlord
I spent my notes on an engram and got the Skull of D-something for my warlock. I bought a shard and upgraded Suros. I don't have enough Motes to buy another engram and I have around 65 coins left.
What else should I do?
Buy Voidfang Vest and/or Armamentarium and break down my old one for a shard? (how is that better than just buying a shard for 7 vs the 13 to buy a new vest other than saving on the glimmer?).
Which is the better warlock helm, Skull or Light Beyond? I don't need two exotic helms right now, correct? Better to have another piece so I can mix/match?
Thanks gang

Gooter...since you got an Exotic Helm....Skull for the Warlock...I wouldn't bother with breaking down the Voidfng Vest and buying another or at least not now. I didn't ever get the 'Skull" but it's actually pretty good and feel it's the best one of the three. I can't comment on the Titan Gauntlets since I've always steered toward Exotic Helms and Vests. You might want to compare the new Vangaurd Gauntlets and the exotic ones but it depends on how you plan out which armor pc gets an Exotic and which gets Legendary. By the way the "Skull" attributes are...
•Grenade launch increased Increases grenade throw distance
•Armor absorbs more damage with increased defensive power
•Super Recharged when enemy is killed with a grenade
•Reduced damage when using Nova Bomb, Siphon skills also improved.
good luck....

Holy shopping spree with Xur.
I farmed for some Glimmer and ended up upgrading The Last Word, The Armamentarium and Light Beyond Nemesis to the new version of each exotic; Bought the New Titan Gauntlets (cuz they are pretty); Picked up an exotic engram and ended up with a creepy bug looking exotic helmet for the Hunter (when I finally level up my level 6 hunter he is gonna be badass); Bought the part I needed for the Bad Juju Exotic weapon bounty; bought the piece needed for Eris's next quest.
Now I need to run the weekly for both characters. Thought about doing it last night but I was beat and went to bed

This game hates me (yeah I know it hates everyone)
So I mentioned that I bought 4 helm engrams night 1 with Xur and got 2 Titan and 1 Hunter helm before my first Warlock one (Light Beyond Nemesis)
I still wanted Obsidian Mind so I tried another engram before turning in last night and of course got Mask Of The Third Man (Hunter)

It's a mix/balance of perks, attributes,and look
also one may be more fitting for PvE and another for PvP
It's always good to have options so "need" may not be the best word ... just need to priortize

OK, I just finished my third and final urn quest, and I feel ripped off.
I got the gloves for my Warlock, and they look identical to the Crota's End Raid gloves, except they're missing one of the shoulder pads. Wow. I'm guessing the other two are like that as well, but I only have the Warlock ones to compare.

Well like others here I'm beginning to feel like I'm "working" and not enjoying the game. I spent all day yesterday getting all three characters up to Level 30 with their new gear doing about every bounty I could grab and extra missions. Only the Warlock needs one more....the Eris Gloves from the last part of the Urn Mission. I will NOT do the Urn with the other two characters.
Got a message from Scott last night wanting to do Glimmer farming at the Conclusion Zone? Scott..why there and just what it is about there and do you need to look and do anything particular? I'm guessing actually do the mission and no free roam right?
Also me and my friend are not only needing Glimmer but Shards. Any suggestions on there...Vault of glass on normal?
Also I'm correct in saying you can no longer sell or break down materials anymore right? I've got over 700 Spinmetal and not that it's taking up space but there's not a lot out there that needs it.

Exclusion Zone on Mars. Do it on the lowest heroic setting. Load up supply codes (or whatever it is that gives you the glimmer boost against the Cabal) and tear through the two waves of enemies. Either leave one bad guy left to kill you, or blow yourself up with a rocket. (Once you can summon your sparrow, you're done with that round.) You'll respawn as the doors open and the whole thing restarts. Keep grinding until you're happy. I'm not as fast as some people, but I've read about some folks getting 25,000 glimmer in a couple of hours.
I'm kind of kidding, but also kind of not.The funny thing is right as I hit my "ugh, get me off this treadmill" moment with Destiny, my wife has gotten really into it. It's kind of exciting to see how much her heretofore-non-existent FPS skills have improved just in her time in the Cosmodrome, and it's also funny seeing her figure out strategies that work a million times better than what I was doing my first few times through.

Adam Tyner quoted it, but yeah, that's the best place to farm glimmer. Pop a resupply code, kill enemies, let one live to kill you or grenade yourself when your health is lowered. You get ~500 glimmer each run. Musick and Chase ended up joining me and we did it pretty much until Xur was about to leave. I went from 0 to 25,000, then spent it all (plus another 6,000 in network keys dropped). Then went back and got another 7,000. It was fun with a group, even if it was repetitive. Some of the ways you die with the Phlanx is just hilarious.
Normal Vault Of Glass is the best shard farm. Well, you can get more from hard, but normal is obviously easier.

Re: Bungie - Destiny
So while I was experimenting with all the combinations of gear to achieve light level 31 on all my characters, I realized it's probably going to be a long time before anyone reaches level 32. Even if someone was lucky enough to get 3 pieces of raid gear, it's pretty much impossible to fully upgrade it at the moment.
I lucked out with my Hunter and scored the raid legs and gauntlets from the first two checkpoints. However, after spending the day farming glimmer and materials to upgrade them, I noticed the light level stays at 27 until you unlock the last row of perks (which require the new raid material radiant shards). Each perk needs 7 shards to unlock. So that's 21 radiant shards needed to max out just one piece of new raid gear. Assuming you're going to use 3 raid pieces plus an exotic, you're going to need a minimum of 63 radiant shards to max out all 3 pieces. The only places I know how to acquire these new shards is from doing the raid. You can also eventually get them from Eris via a trade for Radiant Energy + other items, but that doesn't seem to be very cost effective route. I put in a lot of time this week and only managed to gather 16 shards combined across all 3 of my characters, which was barely enough to unlock only 2 out of the 3 perks on just one piece of raid gear. Unless there's another way to earn them, acquiring 63 of them is going to be a long process.

Re: Bungie - Destiny
Finished the Crota raid with all 3 characters. Didn't get much. Two sniper rifles and a shotgun. A third Ice Breaker. Warlock boots and Titan chest. Got more energy than shards by quite a stretch.
I actually really like the raid for the most part. The lampposts in the dark was crazy, the bridge was clever, and the final boss fight isn't as good as Atheon, but it's not bad either.
And yeah, 32 is a long way off, but I should get my third 31 on Tuesday.

The route is the same, however leveling up the new raid gear is going to take much longer. The new upgrade material (radiant shards) can only be obtained in the new raid (or bought from Eris once you reach rank 3 with her). At least with the VoG gear, there were multiple way to earn Ascendant shards (raid, public events, nightfall, breaking down legendary gear, etc).

Re: Bungie - Destiny
Got my first taste of the new Raid last night getting an invite in a group Chess and others were putting together....interesting, fun, frustration, overwhelmed, underpowered(?), hectic, faster pace, more action (first part)....
I probably died more times just in that first part than the entire Vault of Glass. And I had a Level 30 Titan using a fully maxed out Vision of Confluence along with the new Fusion rifle and seemed to take double the shots against the Thrawl. The Last Stand at The bridge we all died except one who made it across...barely. The next section we just couldn't get four people over the bridge without us being smacked around on the other side between The Sword Carrier and what seemed to be 4-5 Knights and gang of relentless Thrawl. I actually felt pretty hopeless and helpless much of the time; far more so than in The Vault of Glass.
I didn't land anything except a new batch of those Radiant Shards & Energy. But as Meatpants has pointed out this opens up a whole new can of worms of frustration, grinding, and basically forces you to play the new Raid....which you better have something decent to use or you're toast...several times over to get the new shards and energy which you need lots, and lots of. Unlike the other Shards and Energy which can drop normally in most of the game, these are only thru The New Raid and leveling up Eris to (3) which is a grind in itself.
I'd like to run it again but I feel I need to get my characters to Level 31 and beef up my weapons a bit especially anything good against the Hive...but it seems I've got to worry about Glimmer, more Helium, doing the normal bounties to level up the new gear, find more Shards to level the new gear so I can do the New Raid all the while continuing with the extra PITA Eris bounties and still find time for a Nightfall, Weekly and Daily....and this is fun?
Note...just saw this article at Pushsquare.com that pretty much nails this....
