OK, I'm about to launch our weekly Xur Report, now the Xur 2.0 report.

Xur is located in the main tower, by the Crucible Quartermaster.

His offerings this week rage from the new, to the old, to the painfully obvious. I will start with the items you can buy.

For the Titan, you can pick up the Ruin Wings gauntlets. These are new gauntlets that actually look pretty sweet.
For the Hunter, it's the symbiote helmet.
For the Warlock, you guessed it: VOIDFANG VESTMENTS. A-FUCKING-GAIN
The engram is back! This week it's a helmet.
The weapon you can buy is The Truth Rocket Launcher. Such a tease that Xur.

OK, and here we go with the rest:



I'll start with the Curios. In the lower right corner you can see an urn. That's the urn for the Eris quest. It costs 1 strange coin. After that you take it back to Eris to get the next part of the quest.

Now the upgrades.

The Hunter has the Mask Of The Third Man and Young Ahamkara's Spine available.
The Titan has the Armamentarium and No Backup Plans.
The Warlock has Light Beyond Nemesis and Sunbreakers.

I upgraded the Third Man mask on my Hunter, and it's a simple process. Wear what you want to upgrade and it will show as available. The cost of the upgrades vary. They can cost anywhere from 7000-8000 glimmer. You also have to use an Exotic Shard.

I will be upgrading the Ice Breaker, and I would suggest if you can upgrade only one thing here, I'd pick that. Might do the Armamentarium as well. I will be farming an assload of glimmer this week.

Damn! Good haul there. Guess I should have done that before upgrading the third man.

And a word of advice: If you can buy the new item, it's probably the best way to go. you can then break down the old one for the shard and use it on the new version.

If you don't want to be rushed through it, I highly recommend finding 5 other people that have never done it, because once you know how to do each section, it's pretty easy. Granted, I haven't beat Crota yet, but I know how after experimenting a bit with it. It's really just a matter of leveling up, because if everyone is only level 30, you're at a real disadvantage.

My first raid attempt (on Tuesday), we spent about 3 hrs learning the ropes before everyone quit. We decided we would continue again when everyone leveled up.

My second and third attempts with my alternate characters was yesterday. Do you want to know how long it took to get to Crota with a knowledgable group? A whopping 10 minutes. And that was with 3 randoms from LFG.

My Titan and Warlock so far have gotten nothing but Energy and Shards as rewards. My Hunter got gloves and boots. Figures, since that seemed to be the luckiest character during VoG runs too.

OK, I bought an engram, and got the Obsidian Mind for my Warlock. It's all black, so pretty sweet looking. It also reduces your Nova Bomb cooldown when you get kills...with the nova bomb.

The good news is, when you trade in an old exotic, the new one is immediately better than the one you traded in.

Maxed out Ice Breaker was 300 damage. When you trade it in, it starts out at 302 damage.

Same with gear. They start at light level 30, so you won't lose your light level if you equip it while grinding out the XP to upgrade it. They also start at 444 base defense, as opposed to only 439 from the maxed out prior version.

So the only thing you miss out on is the perks for a short time. No biggie.

I bought all the new stuff that could be bought with coins since I had 100 of them. Like I said, the new Voidfang Vestments are already technically better than my maxed out old version, so why not?

Bought 4 helmet engrams which got me Skull of Dire Ahamkara, Apotheosis Veil, Knucklehead Radar, and Insurmountable Skullfort.

As far as trade-ins, Ice Breaker was the only thing I could manage because I'm having a glimmer shortage at the moment. I can't believe I have to spend a weekend farming glimmer of all things. Thunderlord is the only one I don't have from the 12 that are available so I guess I have a LOT of farming to do.

That urn you get from Xur launches a lengthy series of bounties, and the reward is a +33 gauntlet with no interesting perks. Was hoping it'd be some amazing weapon, but...

Did you get another quest?

I just finished the part on earth in Skywatch, and going to turn it in now. This was supposed to be the way you got the gun to turn into the Nechrochasm.

Hmmmm maybe they changed that as well.

EDIT: Yep, they changed it. I got gauntlets too. And just to point out, to complete the quest, you have to return the urn to Xur. So if you want to get these gauntlets, or just want to get that quest out of your bounty pool, get the quests done today or tomorrow, or it'll be stuck with you for another week.

Really? Screw that quest. I already have 33 (or better) gauntlets on all 3 characters. What a colossal waste of time for such a mediocre reward. Hmm, that statement pretty much just summed up this entire game.

Edit: I just abandoned the Urn quest, and it re-appeared as an available quest for Eris. It also looks like it keeps all your progress, because my next step is the same as where I abandoned it at. Weird. Maybe it's required for something later.

So if you need to free up a bounty slot, just abandon it. Apparently you you can just resume it later if you want.

The good thing is now I know I can do that Xúr quest for my alts without having to buy gauntlets.

Buying the IB upgrade is a no-brainer. I got a new Universal Remote drop recently, so I may shard my old one.

Definitely have a shortage of Strange Coins, though.

I was going to do some Xur stuff this morning before work but decided to give it some thought before I started pulling triggers. I think my plan in order is (all prices are assumptions):

1. Ice Breaker x 2: 2 shards and 16K G, so I start earning glimmer again
2. Titan Nightfall just to see if it turns into an armor drop; got Sunbreakers last night
3. Engrams: Really torn; had been stockpiling for Praxic Fire, but need new helmet options for all classes
4. Voidfang Vest: 13 coins (break existing for shard); actually happy to see this
5. Symbiote Helm: 13 coins (break existing for shard); also happy to see this
6. Ruin Wings: 13 coins
7. Armamentarium: 1 shard and 8K G

Things I may do depending on how the above and a few raids works out:

1. Ahamkara's Spine: 1 shard and 8K glimmer
2. Suros times as many of my 3 as I can earn glimmer for over the weekend
3. Thinking about breaking down some minimally used exotics for shards and space (truth (2), monte carlo, hard light, last word (2))

From an armor options standpoint, that should leave me with:

Warlock: Chest/Voidfang; Helm/?; Gaunt/Sunbreakers
Titan: Chest/Armament; Helm/?; Gaunt/Ruin Wing
Hunter: Chest/?; Helm/Symbiote; Gaunt/Spine

And now that I look at that list, I'll probably go ahead and burn some motes on helmets. See if I can get something for my Warlock and Titan. I think I have something like 130 motes.

So if I want to upgrade my SUROS and my Sunbreakers tonight, I just have to equip them and then buy one of those upgrade crystals, correct? And even thought both are fully upgraded right now, the new min is still above the previous max?

So bottom line you want to do this with Xur....

1st....Upgrade your Icebreaker no matter what
2nd...If you have a Warlock with Voidfang Vest, grab the new one and break down the old one
3rd....If you can upgrade The Last Word...(I have two)
4th....If you already have the Hunter mask of The Third Man, break it down and buy the new one
5th....If you have the resources buy some engrams...what is it we use again to buy the engram?

Note - I've got over 90 Strange Coins & 24000 glimmer

On a side note we did the Nightfall (thanks Chess and Sith) and I landed the Dragons Breath Rocket Launcher

Are new upgraded exotics the same as new raid gear? Highest light level? Like it was pre TDB?

I am going to buy the Icebreaker upgrade for sure. As for the rest, I would rather do the Nightfall with two of my characters and see what kind of drops I get (engrams for armor, etc.)

Tios for farming glimmer?

Exclusion Zone on Mars. Do it on the lowest heroic setting. Load up supply codes (or whatever it is that gives you the glimmer boost against the Cabal) and tear through the two waves of enemies. Either leave one bad guy left to kill you, or blow yourself up with a rocket. (Once you can summon your sparrow, you're done with that round.) You'll respawn as the doors open and the whole thing restarts. Keep grinding until you're happy. I'm not as fast as some people, but I've read about some folks getting 25,000 glimmer in a couple of hours.

do it with others and it goes much faster

it is resupply codes you will want to equip for the glimmer boost

killing the yellow bar Cabal will get you the glimmer .... concentrate on them, not so much the reds but as mentioned always leave 1 red behind and kill yourself so you don't advance to the next stage before wiping

make sure you sweep up the area when all done before you leave .... there will be plenty of network keys laying around (and shi**y green engrams I'm sure) ... vault those network keys for later redemption if you hit your 25k cap

so it looks like my Xur plan is this

Break down existing Symbiote and Light Beyond Nemesis since I got both from Xur engrams last night
buy Voidfang and break down existing
mull over buying another helm engram in hopes of getting Obsidian Mind

upgrade existing Ice Breaker (for PvE) and Suros (for PvP) to new versions

possible but doubtful: upgrade Sunbreakers and/or Armamentarium, Thunderlord

Interesting tidbit about the Obsidian Mind (might be all new exotics). It has Strength and Intellect, where the old Exotics all centered on one area.

I just did 3 hard raids (VOG of course). Got the Titan chest to complete the set (other than class armor). Got my 5th Mythoclast, which became a shard. Got my second Praetorian Foil. Got a good amount of Shards and Energy.

Bought a second engram and got the Skullfort for my Titan, so my old one was scrapped for the shard. All my characters are on the way to 31.
