they are telling a "story" that doesn't require the introduction of new planets or major character changes

we may not think it is the best story but I don't see why they need to vear off course .... they are charging money because people will buy/have bought it

How do you think they are going to make up that cost? They are going to have to find something to sell you. I'm not saying it's right, I'm just wondering why you would expect anything different at this point based on how the game has been received so far.

I'm just curious how much this game, being the first in a series that is supposed to last 10 years, hurt them in the long run. There are going to be TONS of people skeptical about Destiny 2, so they are going to have to break out some really big guys for that game.

Either way, this DLC is $20, that's a third of the price of the initial game, but it sure as shit is not even close to having a thrid of the content - that's how I gauge that it's a gyp, and if you don't see that, you've been suckered, as have I, but at least I see that.

One guy actually ranked himself up to 31, while the rest of the players did the Raid, then joined in the later part to do the last part. Doing this raid at 30 is almost like doing the hard Vault Of Glass at 28, maybe 29.
so word is there is a random chest spawn at the beginning of the new raid that can get you an exotic (old or new) and you don't even need to fight anyone ... chest respawns in a different spot after each wipe (orange light above the door of the path it is in) but you obviously can only get it once per week with each character

Re: Bungie - Destiny

I went home for lunch and was able to do the first mission from Eris Morn...solo at Level 28 with my titan. Interesting and yes....take one bad ass Arc Fusion rifle if you have one. Didn't do the second one yet and got two of her bounties done. Best to do the first mission on the moon when the Hive comes barreling out of the doors to get the Fist of Havoc seven kills. Just die and repeat getting the seven rapid melee kills. That's a tough one with the Warlock...haven't been able to do it yet.

I went ahead and grabbed some of the new gear offered by the Vanguards....limited to the Boots and Pants for now but the Light Level does max at 33. Better than anything I have for my Hunter and the standard boots on my Warlock. Can't touch any of the new weapons till you hit "Level 3' with your Vanguard points

They're charging the people who are still addicted to the grind for the ability to be able to keep up with everyone else who's still grinding.

I was very much into Destiny for the first month after it was released, but I'm extremely glad I broke the cycle and moved on to other games. There hasn't been any update yet that has made me think "I really want to get back into that!" Every bit of news has had the opposite effect.

Re: Bungie - Destiny

raid completed in 6 hours by first group to complete it
shows 7 players but 1 probably dropped out at some point (don't read too much into the number of 29's ... the team equipped newly earned raid gear at the end lowering their levels)

Re: Bungie - Destiny

It's a drag that your raid armor basically becomes obsolete as soon as you start with the DLC, that is, if you want to level past 30. I ended up buying new gloves before I even did my first mission.

I think I played through all of the single player missions since the next quest in line is to do the strike. Might be wrong, though. It was a decent few hours, but not worth the price I of admission just yet. I'd like to get some of those new weapons unlocked and have a crack at that raid before making any judgments.

Re: Bungie - Destiny

Not feeling this either. Pretty disappointing that all the time and effort put into leveling up vanguard and raid gear gets you 2-4 shards. And that's it.

Not. Very. Happy.

Re: Bungie - Destiny

Fucking told you guys.

Bungie have no clue what they're doing or how to welcome new players without kicking their current players in the crotch. If I were to start playing today from scratch, I could have as high level a character as any of you could possibly have in 8 days...less if I ran two characters or got an exotic armor bit from nightfall. And the new basic Vanguard gear is better, quite a bit better actually, than the raid gear you worked so hard for. And you have to wear it, even though it looks fucking stupid. You're welcome, suckers.

Have everything I need for 31 on my Warlock. Got a Dragon's Breath from an engram. Got crap from the new Nightfall, which sucked by the way.

Re: Bungie - Destiny

the last upgrade slot for light level 33 armor should have required a raid or Iron Banner shard
only aquired by breaking down a fully leveled piece of raid or Iron Banner gear

I'd be worried about the breaking down of Iron Banner Weapons / Gear. From what I understand you get squat. No ascendent materials at all.

You pretty much hit this on the head last night and I'm sure it hasn't quite sunk in to a lot, lot of players especially those who have ran multiple RAID's a week just to get the armor so to make it to Level 30. All that time, effort, PITA frustration since doing the RAID all thrown under the bus. If anything, the consolation prize was getting Shards & Energy and maybe some decent Raid Weapons.

Instead of giving everyone who fought just getting Raid Armor the shaft Bungie should've offered "upgrading option" like they're doing the Exotic stuff. The Raid Armor is beyond rare and not something easily acquired in the first place. They should install another tier within the upgrade so if anything bump the Raid Armor to a Light Level 35+.

Yep, Scott confirmed that last night during our session when he broke down one of his.

I picked up some gloves and chest armor. I agree that the new armor looks pretty dull. I do like the fusion rifle that they give you completing the missions. We knocked out pretty much all of the new DLC in one sitting. The only thing left to do is try out the new raid and I guess there is another strike on Mars? I'm guessing that is the PS exclusive one?

Re: Bungie - Destiny

Did they upgrade the raid rewards for Vault of Glass or does the armor you receive there still cap out at light level 30?

We would have gotten a loot drop if we made it across that bridge in the raid last nite. Soooo close guys. From the little I have read on it, we were doing it correctly. Have to run like hell and it would help if a titan could bubble on that platform at the end while the bridge is building.

So how's the new DLC, guys? I haven't played Destiny in over a month, because I'm addicted to COD. I'll probably buy the new add-on for Destiny but just wanted to get some info in it from those that have stayed the course

Yeah that third or fourth from the last try was the closest. Pathway opened less than 5 sec after Scott died.

Agreed. Pure cash-grab from Bungie/Activision. No new areas, no new enemies. Same old shit, just again - it's basically re-playing the same things you already have, and not even with a new coat of paint.

As someone who I starting a new character today, would you explain the math here? Is it just getting the vanguard marks to buy the new stuff? I want multiple characters, but don't want to deal with the grind of getting them up to level.

That's exactly what it is. Everything you need to get to 31 can now be bought, and everything you need to get to level 32 is dropped in the new raid. It's like the last couple months all over again, just to reset when the next expansion comes out next year. Which is really starting to make me wonder why I keep pouring so much time in this game when I have 10+ PS4 & XB1 games from Black Friday that are more deserving of my attention.

Screw that. I like the asthetics of my IB gear and feel like I earned it. Might consider breaking down the Raid gear only if armor gets a bump in the old Raid. Not gonna break it down otherwise.
