ToO is a GREAT way to farm cruicible marks/rep. Each round counts as its own game. At the end of each round you get marks/rep as if you did a complete game of control/skirmish or what ever

There's one passage card full of losses. Got the Legs for my Titan which is nice. Even better once you turn in a full card, you can exchange it for a new one.

I feel like such an asshole. I thought you had to turn your card in before you got your third loss. Now I'm even more pumped to play.

Went ahead and picked up 8 engrams from Xur. Got an Apothoesis Veil, Glasshouse, Helm of Inmost Light, Knucklehead Radar, Mask Of the Third Man, Obsidian Mind (might keep the last 2 because I think they are better rolls than what I have). I will also keep The Ram and Eternal Warrior (2 of the 3 new helmets ain't too bad)

  • Strike is much much much better than Omnigul...fucking hate that strike
  • Looking forward to PoE. I didn't hate CE, except for the final boss, but this sounds better to me.
  • Upgrades for existing gear makes VoG and CE relevant again...still a reason to play them other than a slim chance a whatever exotic
  • I expect to see lots of mixes of armor rather than just whatever current raid set, which is great!!!

:
  • Something like 4 of 6 of the new story missions are rehashes of existing assets.
  • Seriously, more currencies? I thought we'd learned something. You can call it something besides another shard, but yeah, it's another fucking shard.
  • Nothing terribly consequential in the new gear. Will be running Fatebringer, Icebreaker, Black Hammer, Hunger or Ghorn most of the time.
  • Coolest new armor is PVP only?
  • Key farming
Etheric Light is the only thing keeping people being Level 34 immediately. They had to do something to keep people from instantly making it possible to rank EVERYTHING to max level.

And I wouldn't say the best armor is PVP only. The Celestial Nighthawk is something I'd never use in PVP, but could be useful in PVE. 1 Golden Gun shot with 6 times the damage makes it more in line with the Nova Bomb and Fist Of Havoc in terms of damage. But then, you killed your hunter. The boots adding an extra jump to either hunter class would help on at least one POE battle immensely. Even the new gloves are very useful by letting gunslingers go invisible. Invisibility is much more useful in PVE than PVP.

The new Titan gloves deal area of effect damage when you get meleed. Again, something that works in PVE and PVP. Hive levels in POE could make that useful. The new Titan boots suck no matter where you'd use them. The helmet is PVP oriented since most end game content you're better off playing as a defender.

The Purifier Robes for Warlock could be extremely useful in Prison Of Elders if you're the last man standing and you use Radiance to resurrect. Blinding the enemies around you to save the rest of your team? The Ram gives you increased armor and life steal, both useful in POE and PVP. The gloves are probably more PVP focused, but I don't use scatter grenades. And again, for most endgame content you'll play as a Sunsinger, so anything Voidwalker oriented would be used less. But a second grenade (even scatter) could be useful.

Re: Bungie - Destiny

coolest =/= best

I dig the Egyptian themed stuff.

Edit: And I got an Etheric Light from my Titan's nighfall, so both Warlocks are 33. Assuming I can get them both through 34 PoEs this weekend, they should both hit 34...unless I'm missing something.

Get a flawless 9-0 victory on ToO you get to access the Lighthouse on Mecury. Looks like one thing in Destiny I'll never access, unless to people carry me there.

yeah, with just a 3 person team I don't think its possible to get carried. I'll consider it a good day for myself if I win one round of ToO.....ever....

Re: Bungie - Destiny

I finally got my Awoken Hunter to the City yesterday. Haven't bought either of the expansions yet, as I plan to upgrade either to an Xbox One, or maybe a PS4. I figure may as well buy the expansions after I upgrade.

Re: Bungie - Destiny

Well, shit. Recall how I was bitching for being stuck on level 27 for more than 10 hours of playtime? Well, I just went from 27 to 31 in less than 3 hours, pretty much doing what I always did. I did finally jump up to Vanguard 2, but mostly, I just got lucky, where I had previously been unlucky. I'd say that's a pretty deep flaw in the game's leveling system.

Nice!

Yeah, the absolute randomness of loot drops, etc. really does make it hard.

Right now this key for the Prison of Elders chest is pissing me off, haha.

Re: Bungie - Destiny

Three 34s.

The two Warlocks are sharing armor for now, and I rolled the dice with a weapon and armor core and got boots for my Titan with a pretty nice roll.

Did 28, 32 and 34 PoE on all three, and did 35 with my main. Still 2 more 35s to go, and after already maxing Fatebringer, I'm thinking maybe Black Hammer, VoC or Hunger of Crota next.

Edit: Did all three 35s. Sitting on Etheric Light for now...see what reef dude brings next week for armor.

Re: Bungie - Destiny

Chest piece with all strength from Variiks this week and fusion rifle
proving to me inventory is not totally random

chest perks: increased armor when fighting hive in the prison of elders, increased melee recharge when fighting hive in the prison of elders, extra special ammo, extra pulse rifle ammo.
fusion perks: arc, high impact, accelerated coils, bonus damage vs shanks

Nightfall - The Devil's Lair

Epic - Heavily shielded and highly aggressive enemies appear in great numbers.
Nightfall - If all players die, your Fireteam is returned to Orbit.
Lightswitch - Minions of the Darkness deal much more melee damage.
Angry - Minions of the Darkness won't flinch, even after massive damage.
Brawler – Guardian melee damage is increased by 300%

Weekly Heroic Strike -The Shadow Thief

Heroic - Enemies appear in greater numbers and are more aggressive.
Specialist – Special weapon damage is doubled.

exotic not guaranteed in chest of PoE lvl 28

Absolutely nothing I can do with this. Probably just burn an Etheric Notshard on my Titan helm from CE so I can use Ruin Wings.

Once you've gotten the ship/shader from your first 35 PoE, is there any advantage to using your keys on any particular level? I seem to keep getting the same scout rifle and sniper rifle, and I'm wondering if it's because I'm only using my keys on 34 and 35. So far, that chest has been complete garbage for me...9 keys...2 exotics (P&T and 4th Horseman)...and a bunch of garbage legendaries.

And I guess the weekly routine is now a 34 and 35 each week on each character along with Nightfalls...at least until you get enough Etheric Notshards to ascend everything you want ascended.

Overall, I'm more and more happy with the update. Of course, I differentiate between the DLC and the update, where the DLC is pretty decent and probably worth the price of admission, but them fixing their [shit] armor/weapons upgrade system is the real star of the show. As a fairly dedicated early player and the first person here to finish VoG by several weeks, I found it completely insulting that they made all of that content and loot (and the raid itself) irrelevant, and kudos to them for finally fixing that. Incidentally, the guys from NeoGAF who I did the early raiding with are back on Destiny, and I was able to return the favor by helping them get caught up, including a couple of Crota runs for gear.

As for the new "raid", PoE isn't nearly as interesting as VoG, but it's a lot better than CE and plays to the game's strengths with a kinetic stand up fight rather than a boring Crota cheese fest. I think it might turn into a bit of a chore having to run the different levels of PoE, but the variety between 32, 34 and 35 is awesome.

Fun weekend.

Rough week.

Trickle shouldn't be too bad on 34 boss...just hop and shoot, but Arc on 35 means a stand up fight with Skolas...loadout something like Fatebringer/Vestian or P&T/Thunderlord.

I'm sure I'll find better weapons as the game progresses, but so far I'm loving the Sniper Rifle. One shotting enemies is awesome.

The 34 boss last week is now the 32 boss. The 34 boss this week is a new one.

wonder how 3 hunters going in and out of invisibility with 365 P&T might work
or 2 Hunters with P&T and a WOL bubble bro with P&T
