I have a Siren in the 40s as well.

For you Covin your best bet is get with Level 57-61 players, let them host and you tag along in Knoxx, that is if you want to level up fast. Or just go with them and take on Crawmax a few times. Of course you could take a longer route, host and have higher level players tag along to help you run thru the missions.

For you Starman having a Siren in the 40's you can do the above but in first playthru or do second playthru while hanging way, way back....
You also may get a few level ups tagging along someone higher level and just doing the very last mission, second playthru, in the normal stroyline over a few times.

I've done it both ways, doing the missions and a higer level person helping and tagging along with higher level players while hanging back. I much prefer the first since you can actually do something. The later you can level up super fast but you feel more helpless since it's like shooting "cotton balls" instead of bullets.

Re: Borderlands

I really don't get the desire to simply level up your character to 50/61 as fast as possible by "tagging along" with higher-leveled players. Why would you purposely NOT play the game just to get 4 maxed out characters that have nowhere else to go?

Re: Borderlands

? Hope you don't mean me, I'm just looking for others online to play with, who will hopefully tag along on my missions.

Yeah, I get that. I've warned people of too much gun duping and things like that too. I mean, I've done it, but you can easily kill the game by losing any sense of accomplishment.

I assume you are talking about me.

Since I got the game late I've been perpetually behind in this game. I got Zombie Island when every one else was starting Knoxx. I've basically run through Knoxx and have about 10 side missions (+Craw) left so I have quite a ways to go.

I'm good just playing in someone else's sandbox to get some XP and have some fun. I'd like to make it to 61 before the next DLC which should be any day now. I don't really want to run around in SP to go from 52 to 61. I mean, I will because I love the game, but it seems like it would be faster with more people.

Re: Borderlands

No, I'm not talking about "anyone". It's just every time this thread is bumped there's talk about power-leveling for the sake of leveling. I just don't get it.

Just like I never understood modding weapons for a cooperative game against the computer.

Maybe it's just me, but leveling is a reward for playing the game. I just don't see what's fun in turning a level 1 character into a level 20 character in 15 minutes of standing at the spawn while a level 61 runs around killing tough enemies.

In your case, you're talking about taking a level 52 up. You didn't ask to join 3 level 61st so you can just sit on your ass and watch. Even so, it wouldn't be very productive versus actually playing at that level.

You merely asked to play. So, no, I wasn't talking about you

Re: Borderlands

I guess i need to clarify...

I did play the game...not just get it and say...hey guys, level me up. I went thru with my Hunter and Siren and got help with the Brick and Soldier simply to have them. Twice thru with one character is enough. twice with two is plenty but three is pushing it. For some one will probably be it but all four....For someone who is say a Level 49-52 playing with a Level 59-61 I don't think it's that bad. But if someone is a Level 25 in their first playthru...yea, it's a overkill.

As to "dumping" it has it's pros and cons especially the "Pearls" but as you progress you do need them or at least they come in very handy. But I also bought plenty and gained them the old fashion way. I staggered my characters and just passed the weapons down in Moxxie's after leveling up

The game is really meant for co-op and it clearly says, "more players = better chance at more money and XP" hence faster at leveling up but it's still good in single player, Just takes a bit more time and effort but that's the fun of it.

Re: Borderlands

I know, I know! I'm not chastising or preaching at all!

It's just something I've noticed as time goes on and I truthfully don't understand. I mean, I got my Siren to 50 then 61 with my one co-op buddy and we dabbled a little bit with other characters. I have a Soldier in the mid-30s, but I just stopped.

I'm just confused why people recommend getting maxed out characters without actually going through the game and becoming adept with their specific skill trees.

Que sera sera and to each their own.

Re: Borderlands

I still haven't fully played my characters since leveling them all up I've got plenty of Level 55 and up weapons I haven't really had a chance to use and try. I've got close to 915) Rocket Launchers for my Brick character that I've hardly used. Even more so with my Soldier who has severl new weapons i haven't even touched.

That's why sometimes I just throw my name out in case anyone needs company so I can actually use stuff. I wouldn't give up mainly because the fun weapons are the Level 54 and up ones. Throw in your characters mods and it can be fun and funny.

For awhile there we were trying to come up with weird co-op stuff where everyone had to use say just one weapon type or everyone the same character. I wanted to but never happened was get four players, all Brick characters and use fists and Rocket Launchers only. Or use the Hunter with just Pistols and Bloodwing.

Re: Borderlands

Went through Circle of Duty last night. The last round glitched on me twice at the end forcing restarts. It would show one guy remaining on my radar but he must have been stuck behind a red barrier. I couldn't see him. Pretty annoying.

Thanks vball for the weapon hook up. I browsed through them all and I can't use any yet. They all look sweet though. It definitely gives me more incentive to level up though. You mentioned one was a mod, didn't you? Which was it?

i'm not sure on the pearl assault rifles. everything else is legit. i've just never used the pearl rifles to care enough to find out. i feel confident that everything else is good though. matches up with the "best found" variants on the gearbox forums or i found them myself

Oh, I got stuck in Circle of Duty, 3?, in the first playthrough , and that's when I decided to continue with my second playthrough.

Maybe it's time to go back now that I'm level 55.

Ha..Ha..Ha....well actually the idea of the 'Rocket Launchers' goes back to Halo online with the MP mods including the insane 'Rocket Area' mod which in a close quarters map was just that...insane and pure laughable. But the thought and hearing four Bricks growling and laughing while beating the crap out of everything ....well you get the point.

Re: Borderlands

Sorry to bump the thread, but I just bought this last night on clearance at Movie Gallery. Thing is, the game just came in a paper sleeve, no case or manual. Is the manual really needed? Didn't know if I needed to try and find it online.

I haven't touched the manual (well, for any game) for years. You don't need it.

Yep, I just opened the game a couple weeks ago and didn't need the manual. Built in tuturial is there too.

Re: Borderlands

I finally made it to 61. Piece of cake once I jumped back into Playthrough 2. I still have Crawmerax to do and raid the vault one more time. How much XP does Craw give? Since I'm so late to the party, I might wait until the next DLC to tackle him so the XP counts for something.

Also, as I mentioned way back when I had been playing solo co-op so I could use the +24% XP mod on my secondary character. He's now a level 56 but something I found interesting is that the whole time I left the SMG equipped on him. So my secondary character has a level 44 SMG (w/o firing a bullet) while my main character is a 24. The 44 has some kick as stats, but of course, my Siren is more balanced between weapons.

In lieu of that, I decided to turn that idea on its head. I booted up my secondary to run through the campaign with my Siren as the co-op partner, to try and level up my SMG some more. Needless to say, the bar hasn't moved since I'm on Playthrough 1. It's been quite an easy run through just the campaign missions with a lvl. 56 character. Pretty fast also. In just a couple hours I'm already at Crazy Earl and the Trash Coast sections.

Re: Borderlands

Crawermaxx is level 64 so you won't have a chance unless you're maxxed out or just making it harder for some tough guys to ***-boost your character by not playing.

Re: Borderlands

huh? I said I hit 61. You have a real hard on for how others play this game.

I'm just messing with a second character and weapon skill levels now.

Re: Borderlands

Ha! I actually skimmed and assumed you meant another character for the "XP to count for something". My bad, but my point still stands for the concept!

It's been a shitty day at work and I'm already 3-deep in my Dos Equis Amber to counteract. So it's all good

I'm with pinata on gaming purity. Speaking of which, do you want to get on and play some Halo 3 tonight and get some slayer achievements?
