Re: Borderlands
Mordecai is so far the only character that I've gotten to level 61 and finished Knoxx with, but one thing that frustrated me with him was he had no passive healing skill. With the others, I could always phase, berserk or toss out a turret to heal me (provided I had points in the appropriate skills). But with Mordecai, if I ever was left low on health at the end of a fight, I had to wait until my next fight before I could use my bird to attack, then heal me.

Re: Borderlands
All four characters are good with specialized weapon mods and special ability.
I think the SMG is the best all-around weapon in the game especially the Hellfire's and Siren takes full advantage of that with her SMG mods. With 61% SMG damage with 41% with Elemental she can do serious damage. Throw in the another mod for 61% Weapon damage plus elementa mods...unstopable
But Modecai has adavantages of shooting up close and distance. Allot tend to forget Pistols but he's just fun with his insane 95% Pistol fire rate. he has up to 100% Sniper Critical Damage but his maexed out Bloodwing is simply deadly for up close and distance.
But don't toss Brick just yet. Most look at him as just going around and beating up things and using rocket launchers. He has a 61% weapon damage mod but I think his shotgun mod, Olge, is his best and most underated. It's default can max at a impressive 80% firerate and 42% Material Effect. Plus he has the Warmonger Mod that has up to 42% Team Grenade damage.

Re: Borderlands
Try another playthrough before you write it off as monotonous. You can start a character at any time and you don't have to finish playthrough 2 just because you started it.

Scott, this is what I did but it really depends on just how much you intend to play the game. As I've mentioned before I basically "staggered" or some call ladder my characters. Pretty much keeping them anywhere say 10 to 20 levels apart. By using the Bank at Moxxies I was able to just hand down weapons to next character in line. It also helped when I came across a "Elemintal Artifact" or a weapon meant for another character. I just pick it up and take it to the bank.
I know some like to finish one all the way and then start another. There were times though I felt like, "Hey, I just did this part a few days ago with one and now again with another". It's really up to you.

Re: Borderlands
Start a new character or stick with the current. It really doesn't matter and it's whatever you want to do. I started my Brick character many months ago, got bored with him and played different characters (as well as several different games) in the meantime. When I wanted to go back to him, I respeced my character for a nominal fee to the skills I now wanted and picked up from where I left off.
And, I must say, as a solo player on the PC, I'm a little jealous that you console users can split-screen your characters and swap weapons. There's no equivalent way to do this on PC, so my weapons either fit my current character or they're wasted. But I've had no problems equipping each character with some awesome stuff without that feature, so I guess it's no biggie.

Re: Borderlands
so is there a fast way to level up on 2nd playthrough? i did a few missions already, killed nine-toes again and xp only went up like a quarter between killing skags, him, and anything else in site. very slow progression and i thought people mentioned leveling up much faster.

Re: Borderlands
You level up faster when you go against harder enemies and that's the way it is. The main difference is money where you see it right off the bat. The other part is continuing your side quest like enemies killed using such-&-such weapon, elemental effect where you can get 20,000 XP. The second time at Dr. Ned's can help a bit but the bulk is at Knoxx. You can always look for someone who is about five or more levels ahead and tag along.

Re: Borderlands
You just have to play through the main missions long enough to get to enemies that have a level higher than you, then the XP starts adding up. Skip all the side missions at the Bounty Boards and plow through the story missions.

Re: Borderlands
You may be able to get XP by replaying the area just before the vault in Playthrough 1. Those Guardians can be worth a lot of XP. But, I don't know if 42 is too high to get much out of it, and that won't get you any farther in your second playthrough.
I just got my Siren (who maxed out before Knoxx raised the level cap) from level 50 to 54 by replaying that area a few times in Playthrough 2, in preparation of bringing her into Knoxx.

Re: Borderlands
The Bank is at Moxxies via the DLC pack. Once you get Moxxie' you have full access to "The Bank" where you basically have extra slots to store your weapons. Higher level...= more slots and you can also buy more.
The best way is you just fire up a extra controller, create another account and do a "split screen" game with who else...you. Just hop in with your dummy character and head to Moxxies where even your dummy character gets a bank slot.
There take out what you want to give to another character, drop it and have your "dummy" player pick it up, hold it or put in bank. Quit out and then start with the other character you want to have the weapons and do a split screen with your 'dummy" character. Head to Moxxie's and the have your "dummy" character pull and drop the weapons given earlier and presto...your character has the weapons/elemental artifact/mod.
I've got three "dummy" characters in Siren, Modecai and Soldier. Any good SMG's go to the Siren Bank, sniper and pistols to Modecai Bank and assault rifles and shotguns to the Soldier Bank. Now your main characters get allot of spare slots and the "dummy" ones don't since they're not leveled up.

Doesn't feel like this sale is in anticipation of an announcement? Whether that's a "GOTY" edition or an additional DLC package (as hinted by twitter) or both.

Oh I'm sure it is Pinata especially after I buy the DLC. That's when they'll announce the Super Mega Awesome Edition with loads of free shit!

Keep going with the same character.
