Re: Borderlands

I thought all the levels would scale to you so I did the DLC at level16... got out at level 22 and am now doing all trivial missions, eve in the 2nd area. Its a little annoying.

I actually thought the game design was good in that if something was too hard, I found it was always because I was using the wrong weapon or tactics. I liked that I had to constantly swap weapons and mods and vary my tactics to suit the circumstance.

You only get one life through the whole game. Once your character dies, you have to erase the save file and start the whole game again. You must be more careful and plan strategies for every area of the game. The quest i was on earlier took nearly two hours to complete. I always make sure to stock up on plenty of health packs. It makes for a much more intense experience.

Sounds like something I don't want to take part in. Sounds harder than beating Rush'n Attack with one life.

House of Neds and Jakobs Fodder. Weird thing is it was splitscreen co-op and I was player 1. I could understand player 2 having the achievements glitch, but it happened to me instead. Hopefully the rest unlock. Didn't have time to play it today.

Edit: Checked the official Gearbox Forums and the glitch is known.

Issue: Both players do not always receive achievements when playing splitscreen in the Zombie Island DLC
Status: This issue is under investigation
As far as the balance mentioned by slop 101, maybe it was because I played the whole game co-op but I found this game incredibly balanced and never was frustrated at any time playing it. I died from time to time, but I always found a strategy to complete a mission and I found I didn't have to do any side grinding. I leveled up right along with the difficulty curve of the game just doing all the missions. The missions can be challenging at times, but I found them all very fair.

Spoiler:
where there's three, increasing difficult battles - in Rust Commons East, I think - you have to "survive" the last round. We were playing offline co-op and one or both of us died in the last round. We respawned and went back in, the door shut, the music was still in battle mode, and the quest was still active. But there were no more baddies. So we couldn't finish the mission. This happened at least twice, maybe three times. We had to save/exit and reload the game in order to restart the mission.

Has that happened to anyone else?
Happen in a game I was playing last week.

Had this one as well. The way we got around it was to kill one of us and when that person respawned and returned to the arena they dropped a final group of enemies and we cleared the mission.

Gearbox Software Trademarks Borderworlds
By Bryn Williams | Dec 4, 2009
Borderlands developer Gearbox reserves the name "Borderworlds" via an official trademark.

VG247 is reporting that Gearbox Software has trademarked the name "Borderworlds" in North America, presumably for a sequel to the popular RPG/shooter Borderlands. As noted by sleuth-like blog Superannuation the trademark gives rights to the developer to produce software and electronic games bearing this name.

The more optimistic among us might take the word "worlds" as a hint that any new project in the Borderlands universe could arrive in the form of an MMO-style game rather than just a straight sequel. Time will tell on this one.

Re: Borderlands

I've got a small favor to ask. If anyone is willing and has time I need to do a "weapon swap" with a couple of characters. My primary one, The Hunter, seems to constantly find great SMG's and Machine Guns/Rifles and I'd like to give them to my Soldier and Siren. I find New Haven a good choice for a swap meet.

Also I've got a few missions left in Zombieland and if anyone needs another just to go thru and get some stuff let me know. I should check in about 4-5 pm central to day. Thanks.

Re: Borderlands

After getting bored and frustrated with the main game I decided to head on over to the zombie DLC, and holy hell, it's pretty awesome. I'm enjoying this way more than the main game - the missions, the maps, the enemies, the overall story (the story's still minimal, but way more interesting than the main game's story) - everything is better in the DLC. And it's not short either - and it looks like it might take around 7 hours to do everything - not bad for a $10 DLC.

The humor makes it more memorable and engrossing 100 times over. Glad to hear you enjoyed it. I think there's a whole lot of awesome packed in there for the price point.

Re: Borderlands

I finished the DLC in less than 2 hours so not quite 7 as you said, but the humor is the best part about it and makes it worth the 10 dollars in my book.

How was it possible to finish all the quests in the DLC in less than 2 hours?! I can't even see that being a possiblity. I know there's not a ton, but the sheer amount of enemies I would think would keep that from being able to be the case.

Re: Borderlands

If you don't do the side quests, it wouldn't take very long. If all you're doing is running from point to point. You certainly couldn't get all 400+ brains required for that one quest path in just two hours.

Even with nothing but headshots, you'd spend more time running around and getting them to spawn and then heading back to T.K. to turn in the individual quests.

No fucking way you did all the missions on the DLC. I'm trying to dod all the missions - I've completed at least 6, have about 4 in progress and I don't know how many I have left to uncover, but I've put at least 5 hours (if not more) into it, and I'm not necessarily even taking my time, but I have been looking for some loot here and there. Now I'm thinking it might even be closer to 10 hours to fully complete the DLC.

Re: Borderlands

what is a permadeath run? Is this a quest or a difficulty setting for the game?

Also, how does the save work? Can you save anywhere in the game?

Permadeath...when you die, you start over...erase your save...so you keep nothing...

also, turn the game off, everything is saved except your location...you will reload near the nearest DNA post to your location when you turned the game off..with all your stats and money up until you quit....enemies will respawn...but that is good...more exp...

Re: Borderlands

Just wanted to say thanks toaagstn for helping me swp some weapons the other day. Also or doing a quick run-thru New Haven on a few missions.

I'll throw this in just in case anyone else is interested. I've got some missions in "Zombieland" to do and I think aagstnsaid he had the 'brains' to collect. If someone else has some to do maybe we can get three or four to run thru at once. With two or three players the more Zombies, the more "Brains" to fall. I'm usually on about 7-8 central.

Re: Borderlands

Well, I'll be getting that for sure. Doesn't sound like it'll be anywhere near as interesting as Zombie Island, but that's ok.

So, on the 360, this will be another 5 achievements, likely for the same 125G as before (1250 total). Didn't Microsoft lay down some laws recently about how frequently a game can be updated with new achievements? That might give us an idea of when we can expect this content.

Re: Borderlands

Interested in the arena DLC but I can't say that I'm thrilled. I was looking forward to more map areas and interesting and fun missions rather than arena survival.

Re: Borderlands

To be fair, they're probably still reeling from the overwhelming popularity of the title. I'm surprised we got Zombie Island only a month after the retail release. They could have easily waited 3-6 months for that. Hell, even a full year to tie in with Halloween if they wanted.

This Arena one has to be super simple to implement and can be used to fill time while they're working on the next big one.

Re: Borderlands

I understand and I'm not complaining but I also wouldn't mind for them to spread them out a bit to make them a bit better. The first DLC was pretty awesome but the second one sounds like a cash grab at 9.99 and being released so soon.
