It's also marketing. He was trying to be an auteur of pulp cinema, and this appealed to the coffee shop, art school, record store crowd he thinks he makes his movies for.

Genesis definitely bucked the trend of prog bands completely falling apart in the 1980's. I actually prefer their 80's output to the Peter Gabriel era prog stuff.

The only thing that bugs me about this whole cloning storyline is they are trying to provide a rationale for the mess that was Rise of Skywalker.
