Eric B & Rakim would be funny given how most Hip Hop heads view that combo. No one thinks Eric B is an immortal.

Anyway, I'm rooting for Oasis and a Tribe Called Quest.

Eric B broke up with Rakim and would that compel them for a on-stage reunion if they got inducted?

I just want to see them selling this t-shirt in the gift shop

Eddie Trunk's 2024 ballot.
Callers on his show last Thursday convinced him to drop DMB and select Cher instead.

I'm all for diversity but few people have ever rocked as hard as Dione Warwick.

She, like several other inductees including Jimmy Buffet and MC5, weren't on the ballot.

The nominations & ballot are for the Performer category. Winners are:
  • Mary J. Blige
  • Cher
  • Foreigner
  • A Tribe Called Quest
  • Kool & The Gang
  • Ozzy Osbourne
  • Dave Matthews Band
  • Peter Frampton

However, there are some non-ballot "awards" that also give the winners induction. This year's award winners are:
  • Musical Influence Award: Alexis Korner, John Mayall and Big Mama Thornton
  • Musical Excellence Award: Jimmy Buffett, MC5, Dionne Warwick and Norman Whitfield
  • Ahmet Ertegun Award: Suzanne de Passe

I'm not going to knock the award backdoor approach since that's how Judas Priest was finally inducted a couple years ago and may be a way in for the likes of Styx, REO Speedwagon, Motley Crue & Iron Maiden.

It is silly to even call yourself the R&R HOF if those that you just listed weren't inducted on their first opportunity.

Congrats to Ozzy the only artist in that list that is in my album collection though I respect the others but Jane's Addiction should have gotten in over DMB.

I voted for them both. Different bands, but both great.
Oasis should have made it, but they'll have to wait for the second ballot, like DMB and Radiohead did.

At this point making fun of the RNR HOF isn't even fun anymore.

It's just a marketing scam at this point to keep the museum in the news.

I'm pleasantly surprised that Kool and the Gang made the cut. If all you know is Celebration, it would seem a poor choice, but they put on a hell of a show, and when you see them you keep thinking, "hey, I remember that song!" They had a much richer career than a lot of "serious" artists.

To me they are really a good example of a true crossover group where they have songs that border and even blur the lines of the R&B, Pop & Rock genres. I haven't delved deep into their catalog but any of their greatest hits compilations will easily show you that.

I freaking love their song Misled. Probably my favorite song by them and it was a minor hit.
