I'm sure he would have wanted a lot more. He wasn't wholly ignorant of the value of the contents of the box; he even remarked "We don't get Exile in too often" when I pulled that one aside.

More importantly, I'm a lazy lazy man, and they'd likely languish in the box for months or even years before I ever got the initiative to post them on E-bay or get a table at a record show. But I'm happy. Got some records I've been searching for on my record shop excursions (particularly Exile on Main St), and I'm sure the rest will eventually find good homes too.

Re: The VINYL Thread!

Guys that don't deal in records usually will take lump sums to get rid of boxes. Sounds like he was a record guy. (Thrift Stores that try to be record stores are really annoying. You're a thrift store, put $1 a record on the box.) And if I got the box, I'd take the good stuff and then just take the rest to a record store and take whatever they give me or throw them out. I'm not interested in eBay or hassling over them either.

It's not good to stand on them like that.

Belle & Sebastian announced a reissue series today. All albums and comps out in October, with the exception of Storytelling.

Re: The VINYL Thread!

Nice, but I already have my two favorites on vinyl (If You're Feeling Sinister and Dear Catastrophe Waitress), and they both sound great.

Re: The VINYL Thread!

I have Sinister but think I'll pick up Catastrophe and Life Pursuit. Love those two.

Maybe BBC Sessions. Only one I don't own on some format.

Re: The VINYL Thread!

I have every Belle and Sebastian album on vinyl except the BBC and Push Barman which I will be buying as soon as I am able. Dear Catastrophe Waitress and The Life Pursuit were not available on vinyl for quite some time, each of them garnering near $100. Dear Catastrophe Waitress will have new artwork - and it's not a waitress.

"The Model" from Fold Your Hands Child is the greatest B&S song ever.

At least that's my feeling this week. All their albums are great - except Third Eye Center, which I'm not crazy about. But it's B-sides.

Re: The VINYL Thread!

Put in a pre-order today for the remastered reissue of Coheed & Cambria's In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth:3

If ordered directly from them it's grey marble vinyl. On their upcoming tour they are offering exclusive peach marble vinyl. Record stores will be getting plain black vinyl. All versions will be 180g.

Not sure if anyone else here is a Coheed fan, but I'm pretty excited so I wanted to share.

I didn't catch that.

Also, I saw it mentioned on a Coheed fan forum that the two colored vinyl versions AREN'T 180g. What the...?

Edit:
Upon doing some more research, the dude who posted it on the forum works for Evil Ink Records, so he is in the know. So...either you get a collector's item colored lightweight vinyl, or you get the plain retail release that is 180g.
Seriously, that's weird.

Re: The VINYL Thread!

Well then, I'm waiting until the standard retail version hits if that's the case.

It's now up for pre-order on Amazon for $39.98

Also, the new Foo Fighters album, Sonic Highways is up for pre-order on Amazon for $23.98

If you care about which of the 9 album covers you get, it is on their site for the same price. Ordering though the band's site is the only online option that allows you to pick which cover you get. All other retailers will just send you a cover at random.

Re: The VINYL Thread!

I was thinking about getting the Chicago cover, but I like the full cover better.

But, I will buy it on Amazon and take my chances .. Foos are charging 7.67 for media mail shipping. F that, off to Amazon.

Re: The VINYL Thread!

Yeah, I went with the random one from Amazon and also pre-ordered the Coheed and Cambria one from Amazon, too. Fuck, that one is a tad steep, so here's hoping the price comes down a bit.
