The Power of the Dog (2021)
Beautifully shot and wonderfully acted.
Benedict Cumberbatch playing a role against type was quite a sight to see.

Heavy Metal (1981) — I know this has an incredible fan base and considered a cult classic but as someone who never watched this I don't have any nostalgia feelings for this. I found some of the animation to be pretty good while others, like for the segment, "Harry Canyon", I didn't care very much for (although it was my favorite one of the bunch, reminded me of The Fifth Element). The rest was watchable but not terribly impressive and the last, "Taarna" had good visuals but at that point I really was not invested.
I don't know, maybe if I had watched this at some point in the late 80s or early 90s, it would have a better connection with me, but I was more interested as it is, not sure I have much interest in revisiting. ***/*****

I saw that but forgot most of it though I think Dio Mob Rules was in the soundtrack
Guess it is not worth it to buy the steelbook that just came out

Netflix
It had Jeffrey Wright, Alexander Saarsgard, and Riley Keough but it was boring as F.

The music is good at least and there's ton of gratuitous nudity. Plus, the video and audio, at least on the first movie (haven't watched HM2000 yet), were both excellent.

The Northman - saw in theater - bloody good

Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread
I found this in the collection.
I remember I saw this in the theater for my brothers birthday.
I liked it and thought it was entertaining though I doubt he got into big martial arts fights that were like big film spectacles at a dance and a restaurant
Maybe they could do another movie but not with Rob Cohen the Fast and Furious guy as the director?
Lauren Holly was at her peak hotness in this movie and what a bod.
I have Enter the Dragon blu-ray still sealed that I need to watch this year.

HBO Max
It was not bad but did it really have to be 3 hrs?
Maybe this should be watched over two days and not in one sitting.
Wil revisit it again in a year or two after I get the Blu-ray.

It was good and I recommend it.
I don't know why I waited so long to see it or the black and white scared me thinking it would not be interesting.
Take a break from your super hero movies and watch this

Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005) — Been a long time since I last watched this and while not great, was certainly entertaining thanks to the charisma and chemistry between Pitt and Jolie and the action from director Doug Liman was well done. Kind of had a weird ending with no resolution with their respective agencies going after them. ***½/*****

Uncomfortable subject matter but worth a watch for Stephanie Beatriz's performance.

Except for looking at Eiza Gonzalez this was a bore and not fun hearing Alia Shawkat cough up a lung.

Purple Rain (1984)
It's on HBO Max right now, but is leaving after tomorrow. I just watched it this afternoon for the 1st time ever. yeah it's one of those 80s movies I never got around to.
If not for the soundtrack, this would have ben a pretty bad movie IMO. Prince is so-so as actor. Apollonia is smoking hot and has a pretty hot sex scene with Prince, but she's a pretty bad actress. Nice body though.
at the cartoonish villain played by Morris Day, who was playing himself. He's a terrible actor too.
The actual plot is pretty thin. "The Kid" wants to be a star, but comes from an abusive home and has to deal with his inner demons.

Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread
I did not see it until the 90's since it was rated "R" and it did not play on HBO in the 80' or any of the channels I had.
I own this and might watch them sometime this year just for the music.

Hulu
Maybe this was based on a play?
Probably one of the first movies to tackle Covid.
It had some moments but then got preachy though both leads excelled in their roles

Pierrot le Fou. I put it in the queue when Jean Paul Belmondo died. The reviews all talk about the plot, which is odd because the plot doesn't matter. It's a mishmash of old movie tropes that gets dropped as soon as Goddard has a message.
For example, "This is an age where every man is his own double. We won't need mirrors anymore."
Despite the sprinkling of clever ideas, we thought the movie was tiresome.

Hulu
Maybe if U like or love Ingmar Bergman U will love this film.
I am a simpleton and have never seen his movies.
Mia Wasikowska shows all of her assets which is a plus unless there was a double used in some scenes.
