For a average movie like Wyatt Earp the soundtrack from James Newton Howard made it feel like a important movie and it had a great underrated score

I remember watching a part of it on HBO back in 1995 when I returned home between classes at college.

Starz

Not great but not horrible either but a nice diversion (Don't expect Power of the Dog) on a Tues night and Stephen Lang was pretty good in this though the girl who played his daughter was not a good actress.

HBO

A good cast but a dull movie and a idiotic decision to not include subtitles during the Spanish speaking scenes

WTF?

Amazon Prime

Alicia Silverstone is still hot but the movie was boring

I did not know if the daugher with the Wendy's mascot hair was a little girl or a teenager.

Fuse

A doc on the addiction of collecting sneakers

Maybe had the urge to buy new sneakers after trying to quit though I try to limit Air Jordan purchases which is easy since they are hard to find and expensive.

Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread

The Forgiven - Bana did good at playing the total Ahole criminal and Whittaker did great as Desmond Tutu, I found the movie very interesting and well done

Days Of Heaven: Its considered a classic i know, and its not bad but I didn't think it was great by any means

Ava: Standard assassin gets framed and goes after people, shooting ensues and that's about it. Chastain looked great though

The Art Of Racing In The Rain: Its a Hollywood movie with a dog so naturally the dog dies. But it was such a sweet movie and some parts were both sad and aggravating but it really was so well done. I loved this movie.

The Clearing: So far I've liked every movie Redfords been in that I've seen and this is no exception. But I felt that this movie drags in places despite its small runtime

White Boy Rick: I didn't know a thing about this movie other then McConaughey being in it. He plays a good lowlife dad who just tries hard but the kid playing his son I hated him and rooted for him to be arrested

Proof Of Life: Great movie and Crowe did a good job. Its intriguing and tense and I really liked it

White Mans Burden: Interesting concept of the roles of Whites and Blacks being reversed in society. Travolta did good but its easy to see why this was kinda forgotten over the years.

Distant Thunder: I had never heard about this one and when I found a copy I thought it would be worth a view. Macchio does okay but this isn't his best work. Lithgow did fantastic as the troubled Vet. Its serious and dark but very good.

Scream: People get stabbed, people talk about movies, people talk about stab movies. more people are actually stabbed. twist ending. Its just like the first four movies nothing new. Its very underwhelming

Suspiria: I've never seen the original and this was just......strange but it held my attention and I was never bored so this was pretty great. Dakota Johnson did great and Swinton was so creepy.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: Its dated and campy by todays standards but I think its one of the best horror movies ever made.

HBO

It was ok though expected more since Jesse Plemmons was in it and most of the stuff he does or is involved with has some merit and value.

Netflix streaming

I only dived in since Dafoe was in it but he was only in 3 scenes.

If you are a Rapace fan she plays 7 characters.

Tropic Thunder (2008) — Still as funny as the first time I saw this, probably way back in 2008. Good send-up on war movies and just great comedic performances all around, but especially Robert Downey Jr. ***/*****

American Underdog (2021)
— Well made sports romance-drama with Zachary Levi taking advantage of his Shazam physicality to be a believable football player (and he bares enough of a resemblance to the real Kurt Warner as well). But the chemistry between him and Anna Paquin was wonderful. Just an all around nice movie that isn't overly sappy. ****/*****

The Replacement Killers (1998) — Not a great action-thriller (one of many of the East meets West team-up pictures of the late 90s/early aughts) but has its moments and liked the pairing of Chow Yun-fat and Bridget Fonda. Still relatively entertaining though apparently highly edited by the studio removing much of the romance between Yun-Fat and Fonda, with only little bits of dialogue left over. ***/*****

Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread

The 355 (2022) — Pretty lifeless global action-thriller where it seemed co-writer and director Simon Kinberg was attempting to emulate the Bourne franchise (the cinematography and score especially reminded me of that series).

The story is thin, predictable and really sounded familiar but can't put my finger on what (thinking Casino Royale with the short selling of stocks at least), but a thin story is fine (a few of the Mission Impossible movies didn't have the strongest plots or villains), if only the main cast had any chemistry which I didn't feel they did, despite a few of them being solid actresses.

This yet another film that filmmakers thought would be a potential franchise as it's left open ended for a sequel. I guess there was potential and maybe under a better director would've been at least an entertaining flick, but in the end I found it to be forgettable. **/*****

I own this

I wish they used the Scarface knockoff movie poster as the artwork

First time watching it in HD and it still holds up even though you know how it ends up.

It was amazing all the people they got for the supporting roles who now headline their own movies and TV shows like Idris Elba, John Ortiz, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and John Hawkes.

Ok it is not Power of the Dog but a good time killer with some laughs here and there though some parts were bad.

Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread

Dangerous (2021) — By no means great or even that good, but as far as these direct-to-video flicks go, it was entertaining enough though pacing felt off and the two elements of suspense-thriller and mystery never quite gelled (could partially be due to the initial production was back in 2015 and shut down due to budgetary issues and back in production five years later). And while he was a one day, one location shoot, Mel Gibson seemed to be having a good time (one scene his character is supposed to be hammered, it wouldn't surprise me if he was a bit drunk). Also, Scott Eastwood might not have his father's charisma, but he was alright in this one. **/*****

Scanners II: The New Order (1991)

The sequel plays more or less how you would expect, a Direct-To-Video version of the 1981 film.

It's a bit longer than it needs to be at 104-minutes but has some fun FX work and a nutty performance from Raoul Trujillo.

Cinemax

At first I thought it was Bill Hader doing a Pacino impression in the beginning of the movie

HBO Max and Hulu

Watched the first half of HBO Max before lost the internet connection and had to go to Hulu since HBO Max app would not work

At first I thought wow Del Toro and his wacky mind came up with this until I realized it was done before in 1947 with Tyrone Power

Kind of a Twilight Zone type ending with a twist.

Still a fun watch with great performances and maybe tempted to buy this on Blu-ray.

It is not a action movie and don't be fooled by the poster

I remember when this was a early premiere on HDNET before it became Axis in 2012.

Dafoe was great as usual and more of a drama.

Sucks the Tazmanian Tiger is extinct.

Showtime

A good doc if you are a fan of 80's rap and all the classic Def Jam artists like Beastie Boys, Run DMC, Public Enemy etc along with the photos of the famous artists he covered back in the day.

Bummer he died.

RIP Ricky.

Showtime

If you are interested in the unseen underbelly of the crime underworld in Maine with shitty acting this movie is for you.

Kirk Fox or Sewage Joe in Parks and Recreation was the only name I recognized
