Re: Star Wars: The Phantom Menace...in 3-D for 2012
There are legions of new impressionable fans thanks to the Clone Wars. They'll come out in droves to see this in 3D since it ties so well into the legacy they grew up with, not us.

The PT movies wil do fine. There is an entire generation that grew up with the PT movies. Many kids today view Anakin as their hero, not Luke.

Other than when he is a little kid, Anakin never comes of as anything remotely resembling a likable character.

I would guess when most kids think of Anakin, the one from the Clone Wars cartoon comes to mind....parents will have to keep an eye on the kids who think of mr. evil yellow eyes/wife beater/youngling slaughterer as their hero.

Except that before the Clone Wars he was a spiteful prick who always resented his best (and probably only) friend and then mercilessly slaughtered an entire clan of sand people (including their children) over the actions of a few. He was tainted before the show.

Anakin from the Clone Wars cartoons (at least what I've seen of them) seems like a completely different character from the Anakin in the movies.

Why Phantom Menace? If he had to convert one of his movies to 3D for theatrical re-release, Lucas should have done Star Wars (New Hope).

Unless Darth Maul got 90 minutes of screentime added to the movie, that is one very misleading poster.
As for Liam, wasn't he very vocal about how he hated working on TPM? I seem to recall his pondering retirement after making that movie.

I didn't think the movie was all that bad but since I could care less about 3D, and it would be a cold day in hell before I'd pay to see anything again just because they tried to pretty it up, I'll give this a pass. -kd5-

As for Darth Maul, maybe it has something to do with his return this spring on The Clone Wars. It seems like they're doing a big push for the character everywhere. His appearance on The Clone Wars will probably coincide with the release of TPM.
