The Digital Bits:
Looks like Universal is working to bring more Hitchcock to 4K this year, specifically Saboteur (1942), Shadow of a Doubt (1943), Marnie (1964), The Trouble with Harry (1955), To Catch a Thief (1955), and Family Plot (1976)—if European retail sources are to be believed. (And they're usually pretty accurate.)

I enjoyed it as I said in the thread in Movie Talk. But I don't think there's going to much demand for this on physical media, let alone a 4K disc.

I want to see it, but I have zero desire to own it.

Avatar should be a monster A/V disc.

GeekGab isn't a reliable source. I mean, with sequels on the way, I'm sure it's likely, but take anything they tweet about with more than a couple grains of salt.

Re: UHD release announcements
The first Hitchcock boxset on UHD was truly wonderful. Hitchcock films will look outstanding on UHD provided they don't "modernize" the color-timing, DNR, or screw them up by needless digital manipulations. His A-files all deserve to be released in the format. They'll look better on great UHDs than during their threatrical presentations, provided they're sourced from their OCNs or IPs. One notable UHD announcement film is missing, which would be a highlight in 4k; NORTH BY NORTHWEST.

I get the impression Cameron is going to go all Lucas on Avatar and tweak it for 4K. Disney et al will consider it an investment in the franchise since the sequels are coming.

Re: UHD release announcements
The second Hitchcock 4K volume looks to be official!
Potentially a May 10th release date. Includes Saboteur, Shadow of a Doubt, The Trouble with Harry, Marnie, and Family Plot. All are getting individual releases as well.
(That leaves Rope, The Man Who Knew Too Much, Topaz, Torn Curtain, and Frenzy for vol. 3.)

The replacement program for Psycho (1960) was a headache.
