Re: UHD release announcements

Much like "The Ten Commandments", I have "gift boxes" for this in a couple of formats, but I'm definitely ready to buy this one.

Re: UHD release announcements

In regards to Criterion and the possibility of 4K UHD releases, a user on CriterionForum posted earlier today that:

“I just got confirmation for a future Criterion 4K UHD release from a studio representative. I don't know if they want the title to be outed and I'm certain that Criterion won't be pleased if I said it outright, so all I will say is that this title is an American film made within the past 30 years”

It absolutely would be silly, Dan! You were right on with Tenenbaums. Hey! I know you, asshole!

"Color" me surprised. With it being on 4K and 4K being region-free, I'm now dreaming/hoping English subs will be on it. I'll gladly import.

Do French discs ever have English subs? I feel like it's not often. I'm mostly interested to know if these are new transfers. The 3 Colors films had some framing issues on blu and there were some questions about the color on Veronique. But oh my goodness, just the thought of Irene Jacob in 4k makes my heart go flutter.

Re: UHD release announcements

Doesn't Disney own Unbreakable? A 4k release surprises me. I assume it's an upscale like pretty much every other Disney release.

It pre-dates the digital intermediate era and was shot/finished on film, so I have zero doubt that it’s a true 4K remaster.

Really? I was a big Tom Green fan and even I think Freddy Got Fingered was one of the worst movies I have ever seen. I can't imagine that my impression of it now would be any different.

Re: UHD release announcements

I have bought The Shawshank Redemption three times (cardboard DVD, Special Edition DVD, and Special Edition Blu-ray). The 4K will be the last time that I'm buying it. It's one of my all time favorite movies.
