Re: UHD release announcements
There’s a (sort of?) sequel coming out in November. Maybe they want to release the Dragon Tattoo UHD on the same day they release the Spider’s Web UHD.

Re: UHD release announcements
They're losing the digital copies as well. I'm sure the discs are identical to what we have now.
The annoying thing about Suicide Squad is that it says EXTENDED EDITION in huge letters, and you have to read the tiny text at the bottom to find out that the extended edition is Blu-ray-only. That's technically no different than the current edition, but the packaging seems really misleading to me.

Few movies like The Abyss aside, it’s really sad so many of us expect some kind of “extended/directors” cut. Rarely these days does any fan expect what we see on the big screen to be the same thing we get on the home video release. Of course so many directors do this, so it’s as much their and as it is our expectation.

What's sad is that we still have to wait for the fucking disc release to see the full length version of movies. Fuck the cut down version for theaters/ratings, and fuck the theaters. They're an outdated shit show that's not necessary anymore, and they don't deserve the ~6 month monopoly they get on new movies.

Same, I love the theater experience. Hardly outdated, especially with things like Dolby Cinema screens and new technology, and shit show obviously depends on area and personal experience.
But... that's just another Viper cursing rant.

The theatrical experience still trumps all.

American Psycho was released today. According to posters at blu-ray.com, it's a very big step up from the blu-ray. Being sold for around $17 at some retailers, too. Apparently movies distributed by Lionsgate get a deeper discount in the future so maybe wait for Black Friday?

^. I wonder if they’ll add something about it being the 40th Anniversary of the movie at the bottom.

Re: UHD release announcements
In not-announcement news, the UHD BD of Christopher Robin has vanished from the schedule. Apparently it was being considered as a Disney Movie Club exclusive, but it seems that there just won't be one at all.
Early preorder links for Crazy Rich Asians on UHD BD have also gone dark. Looks like just DVD/Blu-ray on November 20th. Hopefully that'll change.

They can make money on music concert releases as long as they don't over produce and figure out what's in demand.
That's one reason during the day that made laserdisc popular because Pioneer had an exclusive contract which permitted only laserdisc releasing of their music titles.
Movies and movies and more movies.
That's why one reason people have stopped going to the movie theater.
A lot of movie genre's are running there course(see zombie, haunted house, action ,etc) and UHD think there is a market for new releases. Only time will tell.
I usually jump on the bandwagon for most any new music or video format but so far haven't been impressed with UHD. Esspecially the prices and selection. Plus no music titles. No thanks.

I have it on dvd (somewhere). Never upgraded to Blu-ray. I’ll definitely be getting this to add to my 4K collection.

I'm in the exact same boat. (For whatever reason, I never bought the '89 Batman on Blu-ray either, so I'm hoping for the same there with its anniversary next year.)
