There's no "director's cut" of T2, just different "special edition" cuts.

Re: UHD release announcements

Paramount will be releasing a 4K UHD of Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters. It's up for pre-order on Amazon.
I finally got around to watching my digibook copy of the unrated bluray and really enjoyed it (it's about 10 minutes longer and fleshes out the film just enough). However, I'll have to wait and see if I decide to upgrade.

Note: I'm now reading that this will be the "Theatrical Cut" only, so that's made my decision.

Pretty much my favorite horror movie as a kid (probably due to all the cornfields at my grandparents), Children of the Corn getting a UHD release. Looks like a single disc in the US and a box set with 2 and 3 in the UK.

Re: UHD release announcements

Larry Cohen on UHD. What a time to be alive.
There are five or six of his films I’d rather see upgraded before this, but I’ll take what I can get.

Re: UHD release announcements

"God Told Me To" has really grown on me since the first time I saw it in a theater on the bottom bill so many years ago. I've become a big Larry Cohen fan over the years (a really great "Idea Man"). I never thought there would be a 4K version. It's a rough-looking film as I recall, so I'm curious about how it will turn out.

Re: UHD release announcements

Cool Steelbook, but A Clockwork Orange isn’t a film with enough replay value for me to rebuy. I already have it in my Kubrick Blu-ray set.

Re: UHD release announcements

Someone on Blu-Ray.com says he has a contact at Lionsgate and apparently they are not planning to release the new 4K edition of Basic Instinct here in the States.

That's a bummer if that's true. That means the only option is the over-priced UK edition that people are trying to sell for double and triple the price on Ebay. Amazon UK is completely sold out.

A small theatre about 15 miles from me is playing the new 4K transfer of Basic Instinct this Friday. It's a 3 day showing but Friday's is the only one at 730pm. The rest are too late at 1030pm. I'm debating whether or not to go. I currently have a ticket to see Black Widow. I could postpone BW to Saturday. I can't see BW on Thursday as I have other plans.

Re: UHD release announcements

I never saw Basic Instinct on the big screen 30 years ago. I first saw it on VHS. That's why I was interested, especially with the new 4K transfer. I have the most recent Lionsgate UR Blu-Ray, but I know that's not a great transfer.

I participate in their forums, but let me say if you base your decisions on what is said there, you wouldn't buy anything. That being said,I have the UK Basic Instinct and, yeah, there's some teal, but I thought it looked fine. On the other hand, I also have the Total Recall 4K and I found the teal bothersome.

Re: UHD release announcements

Well, if Lionsgate doesn't release a 4K disc, I'll take a digital release like they did with the new Limey transfer. I also don't think Lionsgate is releasing the 4K disc version of RAN. That, I will have to import.

Re: UHD release announcements

I just postponed seeing Black Widow until Saturday. I will be seeing Basic Instinct in 4K on Friday night. Ticket only cost me $7.29 after the $5 Fandango reward. I get to see Sharon Stone in her 33 year old prime.

Has Kurosawa’s Ran been announced yet? It’s now available in 4K on Vudu. I bought it, but I’ll buy the disc in a heartbeat if it comes out on disc.

Or you would buy everything based on the Day 1 posts on every single thing.
