Re: UHD release announcements
^After rewatching all three recently, I really would only want to rewatch the first one again. The second one is interesting because it takes their story in such a strange direction. I saw the first two in the theaters when first released. I know the second one gets a lot of love but other than a few parts, I find it tedious and slightly dull. The third one is pretty much shit.
Luckily you can buy the first one by itself.

I am happy with the Blu-ray set I have that is missing part 3 and it has better artwork.

More anime 4K UHD from Aniplex Japan. English subtitles are included for all three films. It's not clear if someone like Aniplex of America will release any of these films here.

So Amazon has the Mexico trilogy box listed at $99 which is way too high for what's in it. Even at 50% from one of the sales only puts it closer to what it should be in the first place.
I'll be holding off until a better price comes along.

The Furiosa 4K steelbook is down to $34.95 on Amazon. I think that's the lowest it will go, so you better get in on it before the pre-orders sell out like that Dune Part 2 steely did:

I haven't seen it yet but plan to on Father's Day weekend when I visit my son. If I dislike it, I will just cancel the preorder.

The steelbook has been on Gruv at that price for a few weeks, if you can find a coupon to apply there, it could be a better deal

https://motion-gallery.net/projects/red_spectacles
"Red Spectacles'' is the first live-action film directed by Mamoru Oshii, director of "GHOST IN THE SHELL.'' We would like to restore the 35mm negative film that was salvaged from the now-defunct Tokyo Film Institute in 4K quality and preserve it for future generations.
●●● To those living overseas ●●●
This project reached its goal in just one day after launch.
Since then, we have continued to receive support that far exceeded our expectations. As a result, we were able to achieve more than three times the original target amount.
We are sincerely grateful for the very passionate support from all of you.
After discussing with the film’s director Mr. Mamoru Oshii, we have decided to hold a "Big Thanksgiving Festival for Early Achievement"!
1)We will be adding the following rewards:
・For those who applied for the Blu-ray disc reward, we will add a 4K UHD of “Red Spectacles” (changing the reward to a 2-disc set of Blu-ray and 4K UHD)
・We will produce a behind-the-scenes video (expected to be included in the Blu-ray disc)
・We will be adding English subtitles to the video
2) (→new rewards for Japanese residents)
3) We will also add a second stretch goal:
・If the support amount reaches 35 million yen, the standard disc case will be upgraded to a steel book (steel case).
4) Due to the increasing number of inquiries from overseas, we have decided to add rewards for overseas residents.
There will also be a reward that includes discs autographed by Mamoru Oshii. (This course will open after 13:00 on Monday, June 3rd. (JST))
We have one unfortunate update.
The production is falling slightly behind schedule particularly due to the additional rewards. The new expected delivery is December for Japan residents and January 2025 for overseas residents. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Thank you again for everyone’s enthusiasm and we look forward to your continued support.

I really liked Can't Hardly Wait. I still have the old special edition DVD that I re-watched during the pandemic. Not a movie that screams needing a 4K upgrade. I think I'm going to pass.

Can't Hardly Wait is a great little underrated/under-appreciated gem of a movie... but yeah, don't really need a 4k.

I guess Sony/Columbia is entering the no regular Blu-ray with 4K releases now... I love Can't Hardly Wait. I've seen it about 20 times. I'd be up for buying it if the picture quality is good.

Re: UHD release announcements
I've never seen Can't Hardly Wait even though I probably should have as i was in high school when it came out. Of course it was referenced in Not Another Teen Movie and that's a movie I'd buy on 4k as I still only have it on dvd.

And that’s been remastered in UHD too, so we might see it one day! Believe it or not, Sony listed Not Another Teen Movie in a survey for a Columbia Classics collection.

I just checked Vudu and it had Not Another Teen Movie for sale in 4k. Damn you might be right maybe it will get a 4k disc release at some point. It being surveyed for inclusion in their Classics Collection is just as hilarious.😂
