What's with the colors in that trailer? Weird green tint over a lot of it, other colors artificially pumped up. I hope that's not really what the remaster looks like.

Yeah, the darker/night scenes do seem to have a green push to them. Not sure what's up with that. It's been so long since I've seen the movie, I don't know if that reflects the color timing of the prior versions or not (my guess is "not").

Re: UHD release announcements

Was there an official date yet for Blazzing Saddles? I'm glad it's getting a new remaster and not being buried by the studio for political correctness reasons.

Re: UHD release announcements

Is the negative for a movie released in 1949 still in good enough shape to be remastered for 4k? Does it just depend on the condition of how its stored?

I would figure they have to clean up the negative no matter what.

I think negatives have to be stored below a certain temperature to keep them preserved.

Storing them in a cool, low humidity environment slows down the chemical deterioration process that turns the acetate into acid (vinegar syndrome).

This video goes into film deterioration and preservation a bit:

Major studios store old film stock in mines, due to the constant low temperature and humidity. Iron Mountain stores a lot of them.

Re: UHD release announcements

Though already available overseas, we're getting a domestic release of Drive courtesy of Sony on 8/27:

How could you not want to upgrade to see Jennifer Anniston's nipples in eyepopping 4K on every episode?

Re: UHD release announcements

I don't really know who would be asking for Friends in 4k? Maybe for the people who were mad about the extended episodes not being included on blu-ray? I could see the demand for a show like The X-Files on 4k but not Friends.

I can't even begin to fathom how much this set will cost.

EDIT: 250 bucks, based on the Amazon link

Re: UHD release announcements

If I was a Friends fan and had them on DVD then 4k is worth the upgrade.

Re: UHD release announcements

And we still don't have Seinfeld even on Bu-ray. I guess we're never getting that set. Has to be residuals involved in that case by the primary players preventing a possible release.

They could sell a disc of nipple compilations.

You've seen the 4k already? Or are you assuming?

Gruv has it for $200. Less if you have a coupon. I was able to prebook it for $170.

Re: UHD release announcements

Vinegar Syndrome has two UHD releases from partner labels this month: The Sadness (which is selling so quickly that the LE will probably be gone this weekend) and Supermarkt.
