Re: UHD release announcements

I haven't seen any of the Bourne movies. But the first three are on either Netflix or HBO Max. I guess I can start.

The first 3 are great, the last 2 can be used as coasters.

That's encouraging. Maybe I can catch 'em sooner than later since I subscribe to those two services.

Too bad these aren’t updated remasters, especially for the first two.

Yeah I held off on these because reviews weren't too favorable. A shame they didn't update them.

Jason Bourne isn't that bad. It's a decent flick worth watching. You get more of everything you love from the trilogy. It's only real failing is that there's no reason for it to exist story-wise since Bourne's story was wrapped up so it just comes across as a rehash and kind of a pointless add-on.

I saw Jason Bourne in the theater and almost fell asleep. It was such an incongruent bore. The trilogy for me and that's it.

Was really surprised that this didn't already have a UHD release.

I guess the premium cost is from the signed exclusive poster that comes with it. I'd rather just have the disc, though.

I see they're pushing a coupon code for it, but it doesn't say how much you would save with the coupon code. Or if it did, I must have missed it.

Wow, yeah, they're really trying to understand how much people will pay for boutique releases now and we need to hold the line and not pay that much.

Discussion on Home Theater Forum claims that coupon code InvadersTCM2022! gets you free shipping within the domestic USA.

To be fair, it seems that Ignite Films put a significant amount of work into restoring the film from problematic elements. The movie was originally printed in an obscure color process called Super CineColor that's apparently very difficult to emulate today. Ignite Films seems to be a small outfit, and I'm sure this project was quite an investment they need to recoup.

That said, I'm not sure that a very small limited run with a high markup was the right way to go about it.

Re: UHD release announcements

This excites me.

The British Film Institute has detailed its upcoming Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray release of Mike Hodges' classic crime thriller Get Carter (1971), starring Michael Caine, Ian Hendry, Britt Ekland, John Osborne, and Tony Beckley. The two-disc set will be available for purchase on July 25.

Description: Jack Carter (Michael Caine) is a cold-blooded London gangster, and not the sort of man you want to cross. When Carter's brother winds up dead, he travels to Newcastle to arrange the funeral. Convinced that his brother was murdered, Carter questions local thug Eric (Ian Hendry), who eventually leads him to kingpin Kinnear. From there, Carter carves a bloody trail of revenge through the seedy underbelly of Newcastle in search of his brother's killer.

Special Features and Technical Specs:

The other big event this coming weekend is the mighty Texas Frightmare Weekend! Flying in from Paris especially for the event will be the legendary Brigitte Lahaie. We’ll have the very first copies of what will be two of our mid-year sale titles for her to sign - FEMALE EXECUTIONER (Blu-Ray) and FACELESS (Blu-ray AND 4K UHD!). Brigitte's table will be adjacent to the Severin booth. We have lots of other exciting news about TFW to share soon, so keep checking back this week!
